Mozilla Firefox 7.0 not compatible with Norton

Not an expert on computers, and as this appears to be the only folder on HTF where you can ask computer troubleshooting questions, I thought it best to start this thread in the Forum Help folder.

Recently I decided to upgrade from Mozilla Firefox version 3.6 to version 7.0.1. Now initially, some things had changed. However there have been improvements, like HTF page loading up times being quicker. The Rich Text Editor problem has been solved by the looks of it (changed to BB Editor, and now back again). However Firefox version 7.0.1 is not compatible with Norton IPS 1.0 and Norton Toolbar 3.7.2 (noticable difference is the disappearance of the Norton Web Safe symbols beside web search resuts (like the tick symbol in the green circle) and the lock symbol).

What do people here suggest the best thing to do? Revert back to Firefox 3.6 and re-install version 7.0.1?

Have used McAfee in the past but had problems with that. Hadn't had any problems with Norton, until I upgraded to Firefox 7.0.

I'd kill Norton too.  Garbage.   Lots of infinitely better stuff out there.  Hell, I'd take Microsoft's Free Security Essentials ahead of Norton.

Yup, that's what I use. It's surprisingly good for free, should be bundled in with the OS. The ONLY thing I use PCs for is game boxes and MSSE has never caused me grief with games. Can't say the same remotely for either Mcafee or Norton.

Anyone else been having problems with Firefox 8.0 (pages downloading slowly)?

At last. Norton is compatible with Firefox (latest version being 9.0.1).
