Reputation questions

I've got a couple of questions about the reputation icon(s) (which look to me like Oscar statuettes):

1. When was that/were those implemented?

2. How many posts does one need to attain the various rep levels (I'm on the Second Unit, last I checked)?

I haven't been involved in implementing "Reputation" myself, and don't know all the details, but basically it is a way for members to give feedback to one another by giving a "thumbs up" to individual posts. Positive feedback gives you "reputation points". The system only went "live" a couple of days ago.

As I understand it, post count was one factor in doing an initial sort, as we didn't want to start everyone at zero points, but not the only one. Going forward it will be "thums up" and points that determine the result. I believe the system is still being fine-tuned, so members may see their categories change as the mods work to make it better.

I'll ask Adam, who is adminstering Reputation, to give you a fuller explanation.

Regards,

Joe

It's pre-sorted by post count for now, but the thumbs up gives positive ratings to posters.    This is supposed to be a good guide for people new to our forum to find resources and posters who's opinion is respected or may have knowledge on a topic.   As the community grows, it's good to have an easy to understand resource and to encourage people to post more - and more informative - content.

Ben-

Full details will be coming shortly but here are the answers to your questions:

1) The statues which may look similar, but are distinctly different from the trademarked Oscar statue smiley_wink.gif were turned on Monday.  The underlying data (from the thumbs up button) has been on the site for several months.

2) Great question.  Here are the levels:

Extra 5-15
Agent 16-25
Stunt Coordinator 26-50

Second Unit 51-250
Supporting Actor 251-500
Screenwriter 501-1000
Producer 1001-3000
Lead Actor 3001-6500
Executive Producer 6501-10000
Studio Mogul 10001+

Reputation points are based on the number of thumbs up your posts get.  As mentioned, we did do an initial "load balance" based on posting history.  This is a one time adjustment, and the reason for it was reputation has only been on for a short while which penalized long term members, the group that would have the highest reputation.  Overall we did a good job, but I think we need to make some tweaks.

This is something I wanted to know as well. It's been strange (but not in a bad way) recently with these new tweaks to the forum. Thanks for the explanation Adam.
