I wouldn't classify myself as a "hater" or my behavior as "hatin". I once thought The Office was the funniest show on American television. Maybe not quite as funny as the original British version, but still better than anything else on TV at the time. Now, however, I find it almost unbearable to watch. First of all, there are way too many characters on the show and as a result the writers have lost focus on tight storylines because there are too many people to worry about. An ensemble cast is one thing, but they've just kept adding people over the years and it's to the point where the number of cast members is almost laughable. They need a Sopranos-style trimming of the fat....whack a couple of the useless characters that are just taking up space. There's no need for someone like Gabe who brings absolutely nothing to the show. Tobey is no longer needed either since the only thing that made him funny was Michael's abuse of him. Finally, picking Spader to replace Carell was a huge mistake IMHO and they should find a way to write him out of this show immediately.

Bottom line is like many others here I'm watching the show out of loyalty because I once thought it was gold and hope it can someday reach that level again, but realistically it won't ever be that good again and as a result I find myself not even looking forward to it anymore.

I have never watched either version.   But I remembered Ron pronouncing it "dead to him" in a fashion this year when I noticed this article today.

which goes out of it's way to praise the new, different 'Office'

The horse grave jokes were pretty funny.

It's only holding onto me by a thread.

Sad to say but I feel similarly. Never thought I'd say that.

I'm still enjoying as well - I do hold out hope the Spader's character can come in to his own tho...

Well, I think this was the episode that finally killed the show for me. When I watch an entire 30 minutes and don't laugh once that's when I know it's no longer even worth the time. I'll gladly go back and re-visit seasons 1-4(when the show was actually brilliant), but going forward I'll no longer be tuning in to something that has essentially become a shell of its former self. Good luck to those who keep watching.....you're gonna need it. smiley_wink.gif

The video about the "Battle" of Shrute Farm was pretty hilarious.

Gabe Lincoln saying he was going to the theater and the kids saying "Nooo!" made me laugh.

Gabe, being a horror fan, I expected him to be over the top when Lincoln got shot. Really just watching out of habit now. We typically watch Parks and Rec and the Office together on Friday nights.

I have been watching this entire season so far...in hope of it getting better. 3 quick observations:

1) Without Michael Scott, the writers should have had a better story arc lined up for this season.

2)Does any actor get to write an episode? a few episodes back the girl that plays Erin wrote an episode(is it in their contract when they hire on that they get to write an episode?)

3)James Spader-IT would have been so much better if he were just the boss, and not the CEO. Maybe then his character would have been more focused, and interesting. As of now, whenever he appears on screen It almost feels like a schizophrenic frenzy. Quick cuts, and character wise no value whatsoever. What a waste of a great actor.

Oh, and Andy sucks as the boss.

Sad to say being the biggest fan of the show that I am officially done watching it.

Similar to Paul Lieberstein (Toby), B.J. Novak (Ryan) and Mindy Kaling (Kelly), Ellie Kemper is an actor and a writer/stand-up/UCB theater member so that's probably why she got to write an episode. I think Rain Wilson and John Krasinski have been directing episodes for the last season or two (which seems to be a normal way to keep actors happy after being on a sitcom for a long time).
