No Season Five thread yet? I thought it was pretty good. But I'll wait for the official thread to comment.

Tah-dah!

I thought both episodes were good.

They were good enough for Kirk, Crunch, and Kangaroo and so they were good enough for me.

I was laughing so hard when Penny and Amy went screaming down the stairs after discovering the "thing" in the chair, I could barely breathe. Apparently just fleeing the apartment wasn't enough, they had to actually flee the building itself. laugh.gif

That was funny, but I was a bit bummed by it. I wanted Penny to be right and Sheldon to be wrong. It was unfortunate he was proven right in the end :)

Thanks Pat!

I liked the joke about AT&T! Funny how Sheldon is using an iPad given his earlier disdain for Apple.

I guess Leonard's relationship with Priya will continue to try the long distance thing. But I imagine they'll drag out the Penny longing for Leonard plot a little longer.

The Captain joke was good too!

In the only scene Bernadette had with Raj, it was funny that she seems to continue to use that voice like Howard's mother when she's angry. I wonder how far that will go.

Strong opener to the season with both of these episodes. The scene with Raj and Howard on opposite ends of that ungodly contraption was probably both the most revolting yet hilarious thing I've ever seen in a modern sitcom or, well, anywhere lol.

What's funny for me about the creature living in Penny's chair is that I had just watched Night of the Creeps recently so to me that thing in the chair will always be a space slug. laugh.gif

While I can't stand Priya she looked damn yummy in her video chats and she's got a crazy sexy voice. That said she can appear on the computer all she wants but I hope she stays the hell away from the rest of the group.

Single funniest moment for me was Sheldon's reaction when Penny opened the door holding the cushion. laugh.gif

They're functional and aesthetically pleasing.

The first three have all been good. Almost too many things in all of them to comment on. I can only say, "I want Howard's light saber!" (And I mean that in a totally heterosexual way. smiley_wink.gif)

Regards,

Joe

I've got three of them on display lol...

Loved this weeks episode! For a second there I was sure something was happening between Leonard and Amy but she made it quite clear that she wants no part of it lol.

I was more than a little surprised at Sheldon's reaction to Leonard's night out with Amy, I quite frankly had no idea that Sheldon even had the capacity to feel jealousy or feel threatened in that respect. laugh.gif

It made me think to myself "Hmmm, did Sheldon watch 'Scarface' recently?"...

After Tony comes out of mama's house and Manny see's Gina for the first time...

Manny,
"She's beautiful. How co..."

Tony (angrily cutting him off mid sentence),
"Hey!! You stay away from her, man, you hear? She not for you."

"I guess I'll have to cut it myself." smile.gif

I'm wondering how far they will take Bernadette's continued path to become Howard's mother.

I was also surprised by Sheldon's reaction.

I take Sheldon's Jealousy as part of his Child -Like nature, it's his Friend and he doesn't want to share. Just as Spock had repressed emotions I think so does Sheldon...oh god the show is proving its point with me I'm a Geek...

I have to wonder if Wil Wheaton really was sincere in his attempt to mend fences with Sheldon. Seemed kind of out of character for the evil Wil Wheaton we've seen in the past. But he seemed really sincere! And I liked the change. It was fun to see Spiner now on Sheldon's list! It was rather predictable that Brent Spiner would tear open the package!

I liked how Leonard bargained with Spiner on the autographs. They still have quite a few Trek stars to do cameos on this show!

You're still not going into space!smile.gif ( i didn't know how to spell tookus)

The issue with Wheaton changing was that there was no wrap up.  I thought there would be some sort of reveal at the end, but instead it just fizzled out.  Maybe when he returns we'll discover the nefarious plan.

It's "tuchus".

It's so they could play off the "list" subplot some more, with Brent Spiner replacing Wil on his list of arch-enemies, probably nothing deeper than that.

I'm waiting for Lavar Burton to get picked on for Reading Rainbow in an episode.

Michael-

The discussion was Trek characters who came on board (Brent Spiner, Will Wheaton) Burton of cousre was Geordi in TNG, but this past year he's worked to try and organize these Reading Rainbow flash mobs (he was the host of Reading Rainbow for a very long time)    If the suggestion was, bring in another TNG character, I could just imagine Sheldon at a Reading Rainbow flash mob ;)

He did show up as himself on Community last season, so he's not against poking a little fun at himself.

Burton has already been on The Big Bang Theory. He had a 5 second cameo a couple of seasons ago.

That's right, I forgot about that..

Was that David Gerrold in the background at the party?

That was certainly another odd episode last night in that Sheldon is sort of out of his element again trying to figure out practical jokes.

They managed to squeeze every cast member in except Amy, in the pranks against Sheldon. I did like the joke of Bernadette sounding like Howard's mother when Sheldon visits Howard. And Sheldon's reaction when he learns it's Bernadette.

The storyline with Alice I thought was working, better then the Sheldon storyline. For some reason, the series seems a little off to me when they do these kinds of Sheldon stories. But the story with Leonard seemed more real and fun. At first I thought her forwardness with Leonard at the comic book store was a prank or she was setting Leonard up for something sinister, but it turned out to be a really nice connection. Is it the end for Priya finally? Somehow I think they won't quite end it yet. So will Leonard win back Alice? Or will Penny finally figure back into his life.

No comments on episodes 8-11? 2011 was a big year for me in terms of discovering TV shows. Dexter, The Sopranos, and now TBBT. This show has made me laugh more than any other show, I think. Sheldon Cooper joins the list of all time great comedic characters. Having some nerd/geeky characteristics myself, I LOVE the geeky/scientific dialogue. I'm wishing for a way to work in one of my favorite pieces of SF dialogue--"how to short-circuit the continuum on a 5 or 6 parsec level".

With respect to these last few episodes, I'm a little surprised at what Amy has evolved into. Instead of merely being a female Sheldon, it's apparent she is/was a socially awkward geek (is that redundant?) who WANTS to do all the fun things she's never been able to (unlike Sheldon, who seems stuck at having he emotional maturity of a 12 year old). Alice certainly looked like an interesting prospect for Leonard (imagine a beautiful comic book geek!), but it seems the writers would never let things be that easy for him. Will he eventually wind up with Penny? Neither of them has been able to find the right person. Penny realizes Leonard is a great guy, even if he doesn't fit her physical ideal, and she also realizes what bad choices she's made in the past. I for one am glad to see that these characters can experience some growth and change. Making them more dimensional makes them more interesting.

No comments over recent episodes?

I liked the Siri gag with Raj. Sheldon agrees to be Amy's boyfriend. Penny has the best line there, he's her boyfriend, yet doesn't do what boyfriends do. And Penny and Leonard are back.

5 or 6 parsec level Robert? Common lead would have crushed the vehicle...The whole thing hardly comes to 10 tons.

I've missed a few episodes and behind on the current one. The roommate agreement was really funny. And I love the Amy Farah Fowler; Miyam Bialik and the writers figured out the character last season and it's really working :)

Last nights episode was great, focusing on Sheldon and Kripke competing for a new office and Penny's apprehension at the gift from Amy.

"But, if you ever change your mind, all it would take is some warm, soapy water and a couple of sponges."
"You're talking about the painting, right?"

I dunno; I was mostly disappointed about last night's episode.

BBT works best when it's the core characters interacting and the laughs come from the dialogue. Last night's episode was almost a complete opposite - they tried too hard to make Sheldon and Kripke look incompetent in sports, Raj and Howard were almost afterthoughts, Leonard had little to do, and he guys and the girls were completely separate.

It was like someone wanted to showcase Jim Parsons and further the notion that he's the next Don Knotts. While a fine actor, I think he works best as part of the ensemble and Sheldon's nuances are less pronounced.

I'm finding the over exposure of Sheldon a bit much. I agree he's been the center of attention a lot recently.

I actually enjoyed the sequences with Penny, Amy and Bernadette more. The warm soapy water bit was good.
