Top Gun casting bits were funny.

Who's on Top was funny.

Crazy daughter and father was bizarre.

Tony Bennett was game.

I thought the sequencing of those two skits was itself funny...

Who's on Top? Maverick or Goose? laugh.gif

I thought it was a very good show.

The Top Gun casting bits were well done.

The Tony Bennett, "I used to call him my hebro" had me laughing out loud.

McCarthy's performances harkened back to John Belushi's "go-for-broke" style, it was fun to watch.

I thought she was going to hurt herself trying to pop those balloons.

Did anybody see Ben Stiller on SNL? I wasn't really impressed at all, but Steffan was funny.
I was not at all impressed with Ben Stiller. I think the only real chuckle I had was the Deep Vee digital short.

Foster the People make Vampire Weekend look like Mastodon. I bet even Coldplay thinks they're a bunch of pussies.

(They brought Kenny G out to jam with them. That's the only argument you will ever need for anyone who disagrees with the above.)

I'd like to nominate last night as "Worst Episode Ever".

I agree..... Anna Faris kept looking at the que cards. It was very distracting.

The only skit I found even remotely good was the song routine with all the ladies singing "tell him" (don't know the actual name of the song).

I did notice that Vanessa Bayer was utilized 100%. She was in everything. This is not a bad thing, but it seemed like she was the guest host.

It still wasn't as bad as the episode that was hosted by January Jones.

That one will live in infamy.  That at Kei$ha trying to sing.. woof, that was painful

French Dancing Sketch.

I demand they openly tell me they will not do this sketch again before I bother to tune in.

Dear god, it's painful

Chess sketch, eating glass segment; was that

Olivia Wilde?

That was indeed.

I think that show closing was the first time I've ever seen Muppets with their puppeteers.

hmm - I kinda liked that one...

The sexual harassment sketch killed me.

Is it just me, or is SNL leaning too far on sex jokes? I heard several on Steve Buscemi's show. These things don't offend me personally, but it just seems like SNL has stopped trying to be entertaining and wants to "shock" people. I just think back to the '80's--which I consider their prime, and wish some of that would come back.frown.gif

Having watched the show from the start I would not agree.

They sex abuse sketch had me laughing none stop.

Who is Robyn? I never heard either of those songs, and she looked ridiculous in those shoes! I don't really have any feelings about Katy Perry except, why blonde hair? The show was boring to me.redface.gif:o

I have never heard of her either. I wonder why Katy Perry didn't want to perform as well.

Just how many different hair styles/wigs was she wearing in the episode?

Robyn is fairly popular in the UK and Europe. I've listened to some of her music in the past and it just doesn't grab me. She does have one song, tho, that I think is terrific called Dancing On My Own. I was really surprised to see her on the show.

Thought it odd Perry didn't perform.

Here's the track mentioned above. Personally I prefer the Rex the Dog remix but that may be too techno, but you can see that version here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT3qZ8JnAXk)

Swedish artist Robyn had a Top 40 hit in the '90s called "Show Me Love." But then she "reappeared" several years later somewhat made over as an edgy, dance pop diva. On her most recent release "Body Talk," which is a collection of tracks from three volumes of EPs, she is definitely at the top of her game.

She and Perry were on tour last year, which seemed like an odd pairing, but I guess SNL didn't think so.

One of my faves is "Call Your Girlfriend," which also has a pretty cool, "one take" music video.

Does anyone else have a problem with the Audio in the opening sketch? For the last 4 weeks, the opening sketch had low audio on the actors. The crowd laughs were loud, but the actors audio was barely audible. The last 3 weeks, half-way through the opening sketch, it suddenly got fixed, This week it didn't get fixed until the opening credits. It is like someone is screwing up the mix. I can see it happening once in a while, but 4 weeks in a row?????

- No problems with the opening sketch sound mix here (chicago)

- I focused away after Weekend Update so didn't realize Robyn performed Dancing On My Own as her second number. I wouldn't have expected it since the song came out 18 months ago.

I forgot Matt Damon and Val Kilmer in the digital short. How weird was that??
