Two And A Half Men season 9 thread

Charlie Sheen's winning strategy has gifted the viewers of "Two and a Half Men" with Ashton Kutcher joining the cast, and the character of "Charlie" will be written out of the show (permanently, so it seems).

The show returns to its usual Monday night 9 p.m. EDT timeslot on CBS.

I'll be watching out of morbid curiosity tonight because I have nothing else on for the 9 PM hour. That changes next week with "Terra Nova", so I'm one and done for sure.

The whole episode was a Charlie-bashing fest. They were having quite a bit of fun with it.

I liked the Dharma & Greg cameo.

Ashton Kutcher? Meh.

This show "jumped the shark" several years ago, IMO. I watched last night out of curiosity (flipping to a boring Monday Night Football game during the commercials). I didn't see anything last night that will get me to watch this instead of MNF again. As Greg said, there were a few interesting cameos, but otherwise a bunch of tired old jokes, and I've never thought Ashton Kutcher was very funny.

Not quite feeling the chemistry between the Ashton and Jon for now.

Have the same general feelings as others. Right now Kutcher's character seems kind of 'wooden' or incomplete. And while it was neat seeing all the women at the funeral and the cameos, the flow was definitely off with Sheen's absence. Unless Kutcher's character improves, I can see this show fading REAL fast.

Perhaps Sheen does turn Lorre's tin cans into gold...... smile.gif

And while on the subject, I think it'd be in Lorre's best interest to quickly move away from Charlie bashing (more Sheen than Harper) otherwise he'll quickly turn into the 'bad guy' in this little soap opera. Sheen has started his image rehabilitation with the 'I'd have fired me' and kind words and attaboys to Kutcher, so it'd be smart for Lorre to at least move on.

Wow, the ratings for this premiere were through the roof for a sitcom: 10.3/24 (27.76 million viewers). I know the curiousity factor was high, but doubt if the ratings can sustained in the coming weeks. But still pretty impressive.

I liked the funeral scene, but the show really ran out of steam after that.

I may give it another week to see if the chemistry improves, but it's not likely to become appointment TV for me.

I think it's telling that no one has commend on this show since 9/20. The replacement for Charlie can be summed up in one word for me: boooooring! I can appreciate they felt the need to do something totally different, that they had to have a completely different type of character. Unfortunately, they forgot to make him funny and interesting.

Doing a quick search, it doesn't look like there's even been a thread for the show since season 4.
