The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Why is Disney cheaping out with their DMR coupons lately? They used to give out ones good for $8 or even $10, but their last couple of titles have been good for only $5. frown.gif

Regardless, Dumbo will be mine come Tuesday. I just hope The Lion King will have one good for at least $8.

Thanks Mike.  We have a good piece coming on the restoration of Dumbo and the preservation efforts Disney is taking next week to coincide with the release.  No need to go to Target to get the activity book.  Here are some Dumbo activities courtesy Disney:

Download Printable Activities!     Download Printable Activities!     Download Printable Activities!

A quick plug for the Inspector General from Shout! Factory.  It was directed by Henry Koster, and his son Robert Koster who contributed some home movies is dad shot on the set and a commentary to match is a HTF member.  Ken recently reviewed it.

Bridesmaids is delightfully raunchy.  My wife (who works in HR) has sight unseen planned to have some co-workers over to watch it in a few weeks.  Can't wait to see how it goes over....laugh.gif

I have The Others coming from DeepDiscount's Labor Day BOGO sale, but probably nothing else during release week.  May eventually pick up Breakfast at Tiffany's if/when I see a great price on it.  Don't know that I'll bother to upgrade Dumbo at all unless it's at a great bargain price (like I've done w/ most other Disney/Pixar titles).

Probably put Bridesmaids on my (currently suspended) Blockbuster Online queue likely for viewing during the holiday season or so (when I'll reactivate the account).

Hmmm...  I may get around to picking up the X-Men First Class BD from BB at that $17.99 price since I still have a $5 RZ GC to use.

Thanks for another WRU, Mike.

That's still $5.00 more than most studios will give you toward upgrading a title...

Thanks as always, Mike, for the Roundup. Hope to have the review for Les cousins up later today. Dumbo and Modern Family will be later in the week.

I'll be getting the Bridesmaids (easily the funniest movie that I've seen this year) and Dumbo Blu-rays this week.

Thanks for the prices! smile.gif

I'm getting the giant (& expensive) Lion King 8 disc trilogy box set & they better have at least a $10 coupon for that puppy. Thanks as always for the roundup, Mike. Nothing for me. Liked Bridesmaids, but not enough to buy. Got the Mexican Dumbo blu ray last year so I have all this week & next to Star(Wars)Gaze. Not buying the movie only Transformers next week.

Amazon's price for the Dumbo Blu-ray is down to $21.99 (I pre-ordered back when they had an $8/off promo when buying another Disney Blu-ray - I preordered TLK 2-disc). Just crossing my fingers that that promo ends up being the same as or less than the B&M deals with the DMR coupons smile.gif

Thanks for the roundup!

Breakfast at Tiffany's. At some point if not this week.

Tiffany's and Dumbo, and the Criterions later.

The Inspector General has been included in several PD "Shovelware" Packs for quite some time now. (This release probably has better quality however.) Once, while researching material for a Term Paper when I was in School, I came across an Advertisment for The Inspector General on a Newspaper Ad I was looking at. It was playing along with another Movie (Double Features were the norm then, a newfangled device called "Television" was just beginning to emerge, but most people went to the Movie Theatre to get their "Fix" of Entertainment. I'd like to see that second Movie that accompanied TIG on DVD. If I could travel back in time this particular Motion Picture would be the subject of a Time Traveler's "Practical Joke" as it was remade in 1980 (With an "R" Rating). Imagine what would happen if I were to get a copy of the remake, travel back to 1949, find a Theatre showing the Original, and SWITCH THE COPIES on the unsuspecting Audience! laugh.gif

And what was the name of that "B" Movie? I'll let you find out for yourself! biggrin.gif
post #18 of 36

At BB today I got the last copy of the Dumbo Blu-ray whose slipcover wasn't popping open from insufficient gluing.  Also sprung (sprang?) for the Lion King "collectible case" a.k.a. steelbook, and Platoon on Blu at the $15 sale price.

The season for poverty has barely begun.

Casey, Junior comin' 'round the bend...

I'm Christian first and foremost (or so I tell myself smiley_wink.gif) ... biggrin.gif  then Chinese American (whatever that means laugh.gif) ... smiley_wink.gif  but all that is probably neither here nor there... tongue.gif  The most important factor in this equation is the WAF me thinks... and I do want to have a home (and some hot supper) to return to should I go and do yet another upgrade that my better 1/2 feels unnecessary... laugh.gif  It's probably a good thing that she never looks at my DVD Profiler to see just how many BDs we own now tongue.gif -- not that anyone really needs to be all that certain once they get a gander in person over here... laugh.gif

Actually, the wife does enjoy and can appreciate the higher quality of these BDs and is probably more supportive of such than most.  We are very blessed men in that way among others me thinks... in case they're looking... smiley_wink.gif  J/K of course... laugh.gif

Enjoy Dumbo on BD, Mike!  I may have to do so vicariously through you -- both wrt the BD (at least for the moment) and your great love of such Disney classics...

Cheers!

Wow.  That looks like an exceptional deal.  And, you get HP and the Philosopher's Stone (sted Sorcerer's Stone).

I'll buy Hawaii 5-0 if they promise to use the $50 to buy sandwiches for Grace Park.

Looks like I can get Dumbo and Spooky Buddies plus the Dumbo toy at BB for a total of $30 after the $8 and two $5 DMR coupons. Plus the DMR site says you can send away for a free Buddies plush too. The Buddies flicks are decent kiddie fare, and my kid loves 'em, so it's probably worth it.

I noticed that my local Best Buy ad shows $44.99 for the Hawaii 5-0 Blu-Ray set.

I believe that is correct, Aaron.  The price I had must've been a typo and has been corrected.

laugh.gif  I am a firm believer in the "system" of checks and balances.

I write the checks (post the WRU) and you readers keep it in balance (let me know when things are wrong!).

Looks like Toys'R'Us may have the best price at the B&M stores with $19.99 less the DMR coupon bringing it to $14.99 plus tax. If you're after both it and Spooky Buddies, you might want to try price matching at Target for Dumbo; then you would also save the $8 for buying both bringing the cost to $24.98 plus tax after also using the $5 coupons from DMR for both films.
