Premiering Tonight

Sarah Michelle Gellar makes a return to the screen playing twins where one takes over the life of the other

Kinda soapy for a first episode, but I'm hoping it gets better.

I really enjoyed it.  Probably the most I've enjoyed a new debut since Twin Peaks.  I hope it keeps up the pace.  Just not that many series that intrigue me anymore.

I enjoyed this a lot more then I expected.    There is some work that needs to be done but the concept is potentially interesting in the way that Nikita was.   I'll give it a go for now and see how it plays.  Luckily, it's in a timeslot that is normally open to me.

I wasn't bowled over by it. Just got the time to watch it today, and while I will likely stick around for another episode or two, it'll have to pull me in more than the pilot did for me to stay with it.

I liked this movie when it starred Bette Davis and was called "A Stolen Life." It was alright, and the "shock ending" will bring me back, but it was the soapiest thing ever. A twin nobody knows about? Check. A girl cheating with her best friend's husband? Check. A pregnancy that causes all kinds of complications? Check.

The show needs not assume the audience is totally hip and now, though. I have no idea what that thing was that got the girl kicked out of boarding school. It looked like one of those Trojan "vibrating massager (wink, wink)" things they advertise on TV, but I guess it was drug-related since the junkie sister reacted so strongly against it.

The not-so-special effects were a little painful to watch, even in standard definition (my CW affiliate doesn't broadcast in HD).

It was pretty soapy, but I will stick with it as long as I can stand the lye(s). :)

Generally, a vial with white powder in it as a means to get kicked out of school is a "Dead Ringer" for what it is ;)

It just looked like a red-tipped thing to me. I didn't rewind or anything, but it didn't register. Then again, my grandmother once had a roach clip because she thought it was a pretty barette, so maybe it's in the genes.

The premiere episode is being shown again tonight on the CW at 9 p.m. EDT.

Second episode was significant improvement over the pilot.   I'm actually kind of getting into the story now.

Yeah, there was no boat scene. smile.gif

Nice little nod to "Rope."

Yeah, this one was pretty good. I like how Reed is starting to fall in love with "his wife" again, thinking she's changed for the better. I just hope he's the one nice guy on that side and it isn't going to turn out he's doing his assistant. His displeasure at seeing her behind his desk seems to indicate that he's not. Bridget should have immediately and should now say, "I hate to say it, but I had my period. The doctor made a mistake."

Yeah, that's going to hard to fake for long; but you're right, she should just go with that.

I thought the scene between her & the daughter-in-law gone rogue was a pretty good moment.   I think the interesting thing we are building toward is if she really assumes Siobahn's life, how does that all turn out?

It has SMG, so I'll give it a go. So far, so good. I don't think SMG has found the style fully yet for playing both sisters, but with some time I think she can pull it out.

Yes, she definitely should own up to a "mistake" by the doctor as soon as possible, The moment with the daughter-in-law and then Reed seeing them together there was very good. The title of the episode was "she's ruining everything" and I did like the scene at the end where that occurred. There is still a bit more soap than I would like, but I'll stick with it for a bit longer.

I was thinking that Siobhan and Bridget didn't feel like a pair of names that would be chosen for twins (Siobhan sounds more exotic than Bridget), but they are both Irish names.

It's kind of telling, in a Dickensian sort of way, that those who know Siobhan best call her "Shiv."

I think the potential fun in this is whether or not they can make themselves plausibly into something else; if Bridget can take over Siobahn's life to the extent that Siobahn finds herself boxed out, foiling her plan.  I think that's a great potential bit of storytelling, because it sets up role reversals all the way through..

And there goes the emergency bank account. I was wondering if Siobahn, in TV fashion, had planned for Bridget to take over her life. It would seem not completely. :)

This show has definitely built itself from an "eh" start; I like how this went last night.

I was disappointed that Bridget is still going along pretending she is pregnant. Now that Shiv knows she is pregnant I wonder if she is going to change her plan (which somehow includes making people think she is dead, but other than that ...??).

I think Shiv's plan is pretty straightforward; she had a large rainy day fund, she was going to liquify that and she had some sort of deal overseas where she could move from one situation to another.   You're right, the longer this goes on with the pregnancy the harder that gets.. then again, in the timeframe of the show this whole thing has been about a week, not the three weeks it's been for us.   So we have to consider that too

Damn did they raise the stakes fast!

I was wondering when people would figure it out, but I was surprised that Bridget just busts it out on Jemma, who is furious.

Unbelievable moment: leaving cell phone on counter in front of FBI guy and walking off.

Great moment: that slap in Jemma's room.. Ka-POW!

Yes, things have started to spiral out of Bridget's control. I found it more unbelievable that she and Henry were talking about their relationship where Gemma could overhear. Meanwhile Shiv has found a new source of money to do whatever she is planning on doing. We still don't know who it is she is working with and whether she really needs Bridget dead (and presumably everyone to believe that she, Shiv, is dead).
Yeah, this show has a lot of fun cliffhangers. I knew Bridg was going to tell Gemma the instant she was shown behind the door (another fun twist that wasn't hard to see coming), but it was still kind of neat. It's good for Bridget to have a sudden confidant. I'm not sure why they tried to create suspense with the Coast Guard recording. The moment the guy mentioned it, I flashed back to her frantic call from the boat. I guess they have to assume a lot of viewers don't remember every detail (which, I forget most things, but not that).
I can't help but thinking that Shiv is going to get mistaken for Bridget at some point by the gang leader or his men and she will die for real.

That was a surprising episode! Whedon-esque in its twist! I'm impressed and hope it continues apace.

Yeah, I wish this was doing ratings better, because this has gotten much better from the premiere, and the base concept is in fact a lot of fun.

Was this episode written by whoever wrote the pilot, because I think I can no longer in good conscience make fun of my mom for watching soap operas. "You bitch! You slept with my husband! I'm going to tell Andrew!" "I'm Bridget! You can't tell anyone!" "You will sleep with my husband or I will tell Andrew you're not Shiv!" laugh.gif It would be awesome if the DVD came with an "old-timey soap organ" option. Seriously, because the loud rock music was annoying the hell out of me last night.

"I hate her because she sleeps with married men!" Audience assumes she means Gemma's husband. "Her mother told her we slept together before I was divorced." Well played, writer. Well played. I fell for that one. It was also a logical way to bring the daughter back from kind of warming up to "Shiv" to hating her again. I don't know if there's a long-term goal for this show, but it seems like eventually Andrew and the daughter will find out she's Bridget and come around to, "Well, good riddance! You're a major improvement!"

I know the gangster thread is extremely important or none of this would be happening, but I'm bored with the whole "tortured sponsor" scenes.

By the way, the CW picked the show up for a full season.
