I second that!

Maybe someone will have it as a "Loss Leader" on November 25, the "National Day of Insanity" laugh.gif

Like many here I'm sure, I got mine locked in at the $140 price that was offered just a little bit ago. Still a little steep for me but I don't have too many left I really need, and this is high on my list.

Not exactly a steal at $140, is it?
I've been wanting this program for a long time but it's a No Sale unless and until the price comes down to earth.
I will need to wait until next year when I get my income tax return and see if I can afford it. By then it may have come down in price. I hope so. I have a homemade set that is atrocious.

I'm in. dance.gif

Regardless of the price...I AM GETTING THIS ONE!!!!!!! blush.gif

I have decided to lop some titles off of my XMAS TV DVD gift list to make room for this collection!!!!!

As with you, smithb, not many TV DVD titles are left for me to get, admittedly...but this is one I want and one I am going to get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It Takes A Thief: The Complete Series tops my XMAS gift list!!!!!!! This will be the jewel underneath the tree in a few months!!!!!!!! biggrin.gif

Considering how much work it probably took to come up with remastered prints for this DVD set, and the time this show's been off of the cultural radar, plus the fact that the complete series is being offered for sale, I'd say that the price is reasonable, and that you are lucky to be getting it on DVD.

I am not saying the price isn't reasonable, only that I cannot afford it and hope to get it with my income tax return. And hoping the price comes down isn't unreasonable either.

The price went up on Amazon. Hope it goes down and gets competitive on release week. I would be surprised if Best Buy even stocks it.
I'm sure that the price will come down, even if it takes 4-6 months. I'm happy with the quality and the cheaper price of the Madman releases (even with shipping factored in), so I'll be sticking with them.
Well I bet it comes back down and also if Barnes and Noble is competitive - and has a good coupon, that could be a deal...

I have not posted anything in awhile to any of the threads due to it being summer. I have pre-order this show as i love Robert Wagner acting and i hope this means that more hart to hart can come out. I never seen this series before so it will be great watching it for the first time.

Hmmm I saw the re runs this fall and spring on RTV 8.1 ota here in L.A. county Ca. It was fun catchy show but not $179.00 worth of fun. If I droping that change I save a few more $$$ and get the true gulity pleasure box set of the Six Million Dollar Man . LOL biggrin.gif

If you think the price for It Takes a Thief is bad have you seen what the entire series of Law and Order will cost? eek.gif

How much were those Sky King sets again? laugh.gif

I cannot address Sky King, but there's no analogy between It Takes a Thief and Law and Order.
It Takes a Thief lasted 65 episodes over three seasons 1968-1970.
Law and Order lasted 456 episodes across 11 seasons 1990-2010.
That means Law and Order will fill more discs, need a bigger box, and cost more money.

Law and Order was a fine program I watched once in a while, but I have no interest in owning it.

Most TV programs are priced about $30 per season, which is not unreasonable.

At $140 or $180, It Takes a Thief is over-priced and outside the range of most consumers.
When the price comes down, and it will eventually, it will sell more units.

At $258.95. Sky King is currently the most expensive DVD Box Set for a Complete Series (And Individual seasons are NOT available for this one) I do not count entire seasons where all seasons are available individually (For example, the Star Trek Series. Sky King's record will, of course be broken when Law and Order becomes available, which is why I joked about the price of Sky King vs Law and Order! laugh.gif

That doesn´t mean that more "Hart to Hart" Seasons are coming out at all.

"Hart to Hart" has nothing to do with the release of all "It takes a thief" Seasons because Sony Home Entertainment has the rights(Hart to Hart) and we´ve been waiting for six years that there´re continuing with Season 3 but they´ll probably won´t do it.....

1) selling numbers of Season 2 were too bad?

2) music rights?

I don´t know what the reason is....

I think people worried about the cost of this set should relax. Both the Abbott & Costello show set and the Ellery Queen set from E1 came out priced around $60 and were selling around $20 last Christmas. I bet that you see this show at least 50% off by the end of the year.

I think that's a very astute comment.  I know I'll be waiting for a major price reduction on this set, and with E1's past history I'm sure I'll see this set come down a good bit.

Gary "I'm almost certain it will be discounted 50% or more by Christmas" O.

I had been recording them off a RTV a few years ago, but the quality was not very good, and then RTV became worse because their screen presentation is all messed up.

In any case, this is an all time favorite and am looking forward to it.

I loved the show . So i will buy it at some point . Just not at $200 for 66 ep .When it comes down to a more reasonable price , like $100 or lower , i will buy . Maybe Sam's or BJ's will carry it at a reduced price ? smile.gif

That's right, Joe!!!!!! I am confident that the price issue will, indeed, work itself out in time when it will matter most, IMHO!!!!!! smile.gif

I bided my time on Ken Burns Baseball when it was re-released on DVD last year with inclusion of The Tenth Inning. I ended up getting it under the tree at 50% off!!!!!!!! smile.gif

Nonetheless, It Takes A Thief sits atop my XMAS wish list!!!!!!!! The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. sits alongside the top of that very list as well!!!!!! smile.gif

I'm not "worried" by the exorbitant price. Put off, yes, but not worried.

If and when the price comes down to earth I'll buy it.

I'm particularly interested in watching the third season again, which as I recall from about 40 years ago, left the studio backlot and went to Europe for extensive filming. The third season had a very different quality from the first two seasons. Of course, that's just my memory from a long time ago. I was like 10 years old when I got hung up on this program and I haven't seen it since.

While I'd *love* to get a copy of this, with 65 episodes the *top* price I'll pay is ~$100 but I'll wait/hope for a lower price as I try not to pay more than ~$1/ep. for hour programs. My ideal price point would be in the $60-$70 range which is the "just order it" point. Like Gary, I feel this will go at least as low as $100 sometime during the 2011 Christmas season.

That's my feeling too . I'll keep an eye out online smile.gif

I've been waiting for this one, but I'll keep waiting until the price comes down, or my standard of living comes up. If I had to bet, I'd bet on the former.rolleyes.gif

Diehards with spare cash will go ahead with this as-is, but I can see I'm not the only one for whom the current price is a deal-breaker. Look forward to it… when I can justify it.
