I want to thank member AnthonyP for this information.

Paramount does not send out press releases regarding

Walmart exclusives so basically one has to stumble upon

a title on the retailer's site to know that it's about to be released.

In any event, I am very proud to notify members that

Little Big Man is indeed coming to Blu-ray in November.

This was expected and the HTF membership should be

thanked.  Members were polled on what films they would

like to see released to Blu-ray and the studio listened.

With the upcoming release of Scrooge from the CBS library

it was only a matter of time that Little Big Man would also

be culled as well.

This is very exciting news and my thanks to Paramount

to listening to members and releasing these great catalog

titles.

Oddly, I was just thinking about this film for the first time in years.  Incredible news, especially following on the heels of My Fair Lady, Mutiny on the Bounty, West Side Story...

I hope more of the titles requested see the light of Day.  There were some obscure films in the bunch (Waterloo) 1971.

Glad to see Parmaount is respecting the CBS catalog

A rare few of these Wal-Mart exclusives have had newly produced extra content. I wonder if any chance here?

Awesome another DH classic performance

I don't believe these are Wal-mart exclusives.  "Scrooge" was listed at Walmart first only to turn up an Amazon later that week

The brick-and-mortar exclusives tend to be priced low.

LOVE this film! I hope that Paramount takes the time to do the Blu-ray release properly. If so I'm in.

For those of you anxiously awaiting - I have an early copy and will be viewing it today - just picked up The Big Country so I will use it as a comparison. As for Special Features - the only extra is the theatrical trailer.

I finally finished watching LBM and thought it looked pretty good for a film from that period. I read that it is 35mm so comparing it to The Big Country which I viewed beforehand it was not quite as sharp on outdoor scenes in general. Indoor shots were nicely saturated with above average detail, as were the various night scenes.I did see a few white specks showing on some of the night shots, but nothing distracting. Closeups held up nicely as well. It lists the audio as 5.1 but most of the sound was spread across the front, I heard the rears lightly during the various raids and the Custer battle. The soundtrack came across clearly, music and dialogue was easy to follow with good separation. I had the volume at a lower level and had no problem - the music at times was actually fairly loud during action scenes and sounded reasonably dynamic. One last thought regarding the image - it may not have looked the best in terms of being the most detailed ,and some scenes, such as later in the film , it was lacking and looked somewhat sub par, were few thankfully. For the most part it was very good and held up quite well. It appeared to retain the look of film and I could not discern anything noticeable in terms of EE or the like. Keep in mind that it was shown on a 128" 2:35 screen. I hope we will see Mr. Harris' viewpoint soon and a more expert opinion on the actual film elements - until then I hope my thoughts on what I saw are of some help.

Mr. Harris' viewpoint for the moment is that spoilers should be removed.

For bonus content, they could have included – supposing it even exists any more – a documentary on Penn made at the same time as LBM, and which features some footage of Penn directing Hoffman "on set" (Alberta location). It's called Arthur Penn: Themes and Variants, and was originally seen on PBS. Fascinating document.
