Oh, yeah. This looks f'in right. Liam McIntyre has Andy's look, and I'm confident he'll bring the rest.

I'm there.  The first season was one of the biggest suprises in terms of quality and enjoyment I have ever had in a TV show.

Hell yeah....I've been waiting for news about the new season. Looks GREAT!!

I still say he looks a heck of a lot like Ange.

Finally, it's back....I've been waiting for this show for quite awhile. In the trailer, they show Gannicus in there. He has a large sized role in the real story so I'm happy they brought him back. Also, the shots of doctore (Oenomaus) being whipped looked like he was being whipped by Ashur?? So many questions from the teaser, I love it.....Can't wait for tonights show.

When setting up my DVR to record this series, I saw an On Demand special called "The Women of Spartacus." Imagine my disappointment when it was rated TV-14. biggrin.gif

You can watch the first episode on Starz website...

Watched it yesterday and thought it was excellent. Liam did a great job IMO.

Yea I watched it and thought it was entertaining.

This show usually is.

Theres a dedication to Andy after the credits.

For those confused, it premieres on TV on Friday. I'll wait until then.
I didn't realize that it wasn't "officially" out until next Friday until this weekend. Sorry for the confusion....DirecTV has a channel (500), I think, that was showing it early. It was still a good episode though. I liked the dedication to Andy at the end, it was very nice of them.

Great start to the season.   I loved the season preview afterwards also.   Looks like a good romp ahead!

Solid return for this stylish soap opera for guys. smile.gif

Great episode and a truly heartbreaking scene with Aurelia at the end. I will miss her character. I think Liam shows really good emotional range and will be a fitting replacement for Andy (May he rest in peace).

Pretty much what I expected. I wish they would write some Roman women (not slaves) who are not complete harpies.

I did think Liam did a fine job in his first episode.

Pretty solid start with some great scenes. LOL at the guys trying rob Doctore, I guess they didn't realize he is the guy who trains the gladiators how to fight.

It's gonna take a few episodes for me to get used to the new lead but I thought he did a good job.

Crixus was right about not killing Glabor, they are just barely on the radar now but killing Glabor would move the close to enemy #1 and the Romans would send thousands.

Good start, but as usual, I have a lot of trouble understanding half the dialogue. I don't know if it's the sentence structure or the delivery, but I usually either have to rewind a little or just piece things together from the context.

When Spartacus was talking to Aurelia under the moon, I first thought she was talking to that Roman pipsqueak's sister. "No wonder she's so amused by the death of her brother's men." Her promise request at the end brought her back around to her original opinion of Sparty.

Is there a more detestable character on TV then Asher?    Such a set of brutal scenes on the whipping post.. and such a great last half of this week's episode..

Asher's the cockroach character.
When Asher cracked that smile to Crixus it was pretty damn funny. smile.gif

I love how they're making Ashur such a villain. He plays the role so well, too. I'm curious as to what is going to happen with Crixus now as it's different fromt he original story. I really enjoy that part so it gives us something to look forward to instead of knowing everything that will/should happen. I'm still loving the show as much as ever. The change to the new actor isn't as big a deal as I thought it would be after the first episode. Can't wait for next week.

I don't know who the new blonde former slave is, but what a knockout. Liam does alright, but I really need to see Andy giving these rousing speeches, damn it.

Wow is Peter Mensah having a hell of a career year.  He's been cast as a role in the upcoming season of True Blood.   So, he'll go from Spartacus to True Blood on pay cable nets ;)

Pulled some rabbits out of thin air, but I really liked this episode.   And now the fight amongst the women gets truly brutal ;)

I'm cooling on the season. Not because of the new lead but simply because the formula is getting really threadbare for me: the gore is more and more over the top (and where else can they go with it since they've done just about everything possible already), the orgies are variations on the same theme, and the brutality predictable.

I don't mind a lot of the same ol same ol, but it is taking me time to get used to the new lead, the new Naviea I do not like at all, the original one was so hot.

Stupid nitpick - How are all the Gladiators and most everyone else in such little clothing? They are about as far from the equator as San Francisco, it's not like they are more south like Hawaii. I know it's for the show but at least once per episode I am like WTF, they should be cold.

I guess I have a very different take on this.   While it seems like a lot of "same old" I find that it's slowly being melded into a background, very effectively, that the expectation is for it to be going on.  And that makes the ordinary - the intrigue - a lot more stunning.   I love how Ilithya is using the sex and spectacle as a distraction to provide her room to maneuver the chess pieces around; she has to keep upping the spectacle to move her husband away while she makes moves to both rid herself of a child, and an encumbrance with a husband she doesn't believe will go very far.

The bloodshed is the bloodshed, but what while it's gore, it's been used with good craft and it whittled down Spartacus to a point where his enemies have now seen him as in some way imbued by the Gods, as Asher alerted the Romans telling them not to go back, because the frenzy of the Gods was upon him and he wouldn't be stopped.

Actually, I thought the gore/sex in the last few episodes has been done far more effectively and with a better point to moving the drama along then in some other episodes.  *shrug* but that's me.

Has anyone seen any ratings results on the season thus far? I haven't read a thing about the size of audience it's drawing this season.
