VERY Annoying Audio in Advertisements

Guys, I realize you have to generate revenue here at HTF with ads. It's just the way the web works anymore and I've got no problem with you doing what you have to do. HOWEVER, could I ask you a big favor? Could you PLEEEEEEASE do away with the ads that start blaring audio the second your mouse pointer happens to touch them? You know which ones I'm talking about. The cereal ad, the "saving money is as easy as pie" ad, etc. It's become so bad that I literally have to mute my computer audio when I'm using HTF now.

 

Can you dump these jerks? Pretty please? With sugar on top?

I find the audio advertisements annoying as well. Thanks to the powers that be for looking into it.

Mike beat me to it.  As a general rule, we don't allow "intrusive" ads like ones with forced audio, popovers etc.  Sometimes the ad networks try to sneak them in and when they do we try to kill it.  If you see one again can you try to note the product?  That will help us track it down sooner and kill it.  We don't like these types of ads any more than you do!

 

Note we do make occasional exceptions like with an Epson campaign we ran a year ago that was a popout once a day.

Thanks, we have been going through what the networks have been sending us trying to track it down.  Its a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack, but we are still looking.  If it happens again please let us know.

One of the offenders just popped up again for me Adam. It's from "feedthepig.org" and appears to be a public service announcement about saving money. The obnoxious audio for the ad starts playing as soon as your mouse pointer touches any part of the frame. If you need additional info please let me know, and thanks again.

Sorry I missed this Doug.  We have done a lot of work with our networks to clean these up over the last week (we were able to find a few).  Let me know if you see any more.
