The Chief: The Complete Fourth Series

Heartbeat: The Complete Fifth Series

Spooner's Patch: The Complete Series

Monday 25th July:

French Fields: The Complete Second Series

Lollipop Loves Mr. Mole

No Job for a Lady: The Complete Second Series

Monday 8th August:

The Good Companions: The Complete Series

Maggie and Her: The Complete First Series

Oh Please Yourselves: Frankie Howard at ITV

Stay Lucky: The Complete Second Series

Monday 15th August:

Heartbeat: The Complete Sixth Series

The Strange World of Gurney Slade: The Complete Series

The Persuaders!: The Complete Series (Blu-ray release).

EDIT: Due to the recent events in London, future titles from Network will understandably be delayed.

Some unfortunate news from Network due to the riots in London:

Due to the civil unrest in London and the resultant fire at the Sony storage depot at Enfield, a large amount of DVD stock has been irretrievably damaged - including a large number of Network titles. As a result stock availability will be limited for the next few weeks until normal service is resumed. This will also affect new titles due to ship over the next few weeks - these will, of necessity, be delayed. When we have more information on stock availability and new release dates we will update accordingly but, in the meantime, your patience is appreciated.

We’d like to thank all those customers who’ve contacted Network to express their concern at our wellbeing - please be assured that we’re not going anywhere.

Any unshipped orders will be refunded straight away and the shop will be open for business again as soon as the stock and distribution situation is sorted out.

The Persuaders! 40th anniversary event on the 10th of September will be completely unaffected by this situation.

When I saw Enfield mentioned in the news I thought of Network.

Encouraging news today from Network:
'On behalf of the whole team at Network I'd like to thank everybody who has contacted us following the fire at the Sony distribution warehouse on Monday evening with messages of goodwill and support. We are genuinely moved.

Whilst the loss of stock (and mercifully only stock) is regrettable, I'm happy to reassure everyone that the interruption in supply will be short term and is the only aspect of the business affected.

Whatever was lost that night is completely replaceable as we have asset backup for all our projects. As the manufacturing base is elsewhere, replication is also unaffected but it will, however, take a while to replenish the catalogue. As you will appreciate, demand for services is currently at a premium but the staff and management of Sony are working tirelessly to action their contingency plans to restore all services as quickly as possible in what are exceptional circumstances. We are very happy to pledge our continued support for them.

I am pleased to say that, although ironically we don’t have any stock ourselves, one of our most eagerly anticipated releases, The Strange World of Gurney Slade, will meet its release date next Monday and you can order it from Amazon, Play and other online retailers. It is an incredible series, worth waiting for, and would urge you to order it now as stock is limited for the time being.

Elsewhere in our company it is business as usual as we continue to work on our forthcoming titles for the remainder of this year and beyond. The release schedule is always full and your continued support allows us to ensure that it remains so; in fact just this week agreement was reached for a series of titles that archive television fans will be thrilled with. I was going to hold off on The Strange World of Gurney Slade until it was on sale: considering the events of the past week I went ahead and ordered it from Amazon UK.

A news update was posted on Network's website last Friday. Below is the portion of the update to do with Network's website and service:

Network is pleased to announce that our webshop will be re-opening on Friday 9 September. The hiatus has given us the opportunity to revamp the whole site, the range and facilities - some of which were in the planning stages before the unfortunate events that halted the service earlier in the month. These exciting changes will be introduced gradually over the coming months and should be complete before the end of the year.

Please note that those new titles which have become available while our webshop service has been turned off are all obtainable from other online retailers. If anyone has any questions on either this or orders that have been unfulfilled due to the civil unrest they should contact us at shop@networkdvd.net.

Network's website is back up and running as of today.

I had been considering getting their DVD set of the 70's cop show The Sweeney, which contains the pilot Regan, the four series and the two spin-off movies. However, on Network's website it says they're releasing in October on Blu-ray the pilot Regan.

I wonder if there's any chance of an upcoming sale? There are a couple of titles I'm interested in, but wonder if they might have some price reductions in a couple of months for the holiday season.

Fingers crossed there will be a sale before and during the Christmas and New Year holidays. I'm hoping the complete series set of The Sweeney (the pilot Regan, the four series and the two feature film spin-offs) is in a possible future sale. I got fed up of waiting for Joker's Wild: Series 1 to come down in price, so I ordered it.

My only complaint is that you can't pre-order titles on their website. You can add titles to your wishlist, but that option is not available at the moment.

It really seems that they have pretty much come to a halt with the ITC shows that were seen in the American market. No more Fury and they still haven't touched The Gale Storm Show, which I would love to get ahold of. Even something like Seaway, which was produced in Canada but did air in the US.

Along with Network's 40% off everything sale, some very interesting sounding early news of a couple of future titles from Network (towards the bottom of the main page on Network's website):

Edgar Wallace Mysteries (from Merton Park Studios)

and

The Human Jungle (from ABC TV).

Is the former title the TV series The Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre? Did an IMDb search for 'Edgar Wallace', and among the search results was The Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre.

The Human Jungle aired between 1963 and 1964 and starred Herbert Lom. Haven't seen him in very many straight acting roles.

The Human Jungle is a good show, quite similar to The Eleventh Hour and Breaking Point, which both aired in the US around the same time. I've got a bunch of them from 16mm but it will be nice to get the full run.

I just notice the thing about Love Story coming in April. Is that the Paramount produced anthology series from the mid-70s or a Brit show with the same title? I've only got a couple of the American ones from when TV Land ran it and its a pretty good show with great guest stars so here's hoping.

It's a UK series with the same title, which aired between 1963 and 1974 (the IMDb says the last episode was shown in January 1974). It's only available for DVD pre-order on Amazon UK at the moment, and in it's product description for this title it says there will be eight episodes in the set, originally screened between 1963 and 1973. There is temporary front cover artwork up on the Amazon UK pre-order listing page. The title hasn't been passed by the BBFC yet.

Nice to see Scarlet Pimpernel in there as that is one of the last remaining period pieces that Network hadn't done yet. I'm still hoping that some day they will get around to Halls of Ivy and The Gale Storm Show but they don't seem to be too interested in the series that were made for the American market. Same holds for Seaway, made for the Canadian market. By the way, I'm still waiting for Hawkeye to reappear. I know that went away when the rioters burned down their warehouse but I would have thought by now it should have been enough time to re-press the discs.

Have updated post #23 with the release date for Undermind: The Complete Series, changing the release date to the one given on Network's website. However, I've added a "(TBC)" beside it as, after checking the release dates on Network's Forthcoming Releases page for just the TV titles (not the film titles) with the updated posts (post #23 and #25), it's only Undermind: The Complete Series whose UK release date isn't the same as on Amazon UK.

Did email Network recently about different release dates on Network's website compared to on Amazon UK, adding that I thought the earlier release dates on Network's website could be because they will be Network web exclusives for a few weeks, before becoming available on Amazon UK and other DVD shopping websites. Their response was that the release dates on Network's website needed to be updated or would be updated (the titles which I remember had an earlier release date on Network's website, compared to the updated release dates on Amazon UK, were the first two Edgar Wallace Mysteries volumes).
