Ad bar on right side of screen changing height.

Hello,

 

I am seeing an issue at least in Firefox 5.0 where the narrow bar of ads on the right side of the screen keeps changing height.  Specifically, it seems the bottom most ad, which is blank for me, every 10 seconds or so will expand, then contract and repeat.

 

The result of this is all the posts below this ad will shift up and down on the screen.  When the ad expands, it forces the immediate post below it to re-size to allow room on the right for the bigger ad.  Then vice versa when it contracts.

 

So if you are reading posts that are below the ad bar, they "bounce" up and down every 10 seconds, even when the ad bar is not even on the screen anymore.

 

Very distracting.  I am currently experiencing this issue in Robert Harris' Lord of the Rings thread in the blu-ray forum.

Actually, I had noticed this for quite some time now w/ *both* IE8 and Firefox 3.6.  But I've been too "lazy" tongue.gif to complain report about it here.

 

Thanks for starting this thread as that resizing/shifting behavior does get quite annoying at times...

It's fixable.  We've had it before and got it fixed so we'll get it done again.

 

I think the problem is caused by different banner heights in the rotating promotional banner at the top of the right-hand column. 

 

Like Man, I had noticed it but hadn't gotten around to pointing it out to anyone.  But, I'll do that right now!

Yes, I rebuilt the WRU post and forgot about the impact.  I'll look at it now.

OK I think I got it fixed.  Sorry about that.  Let me know if its still an issue (looks OK to me now)
