SYNOPSIS

From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg, the Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy is one of the most successful film franchises in worldwide box-office history. On a remote tropical island, an amazing living theme park becomes a game of survival for humans foolhardy enough to set foot on it. Meticulously recreated dinosaurs spring to astonishing life as the film's breathtaking special effects and thrilling action sequences keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Each chapter of the history-making saga delivers even more action and spectacular visual effects than its predecessor, as nature's ultimate killing machines once again rule the earth. Almost 20 years after its inception, the Jurassic Park Trilogy remains an unmatched cinematic experience.

Jurassic Park

A multimillionaire (Richard Attenborough) unveils a new theme park where visitors can observe dinosaurs cloned using advanced DNA technology. But when an employee tampers with the security system, the dinosaurs escape, forcing the visitors to fight for their survival. Sam NeillJeff Goldblum and Laura Dern star in this thrilling, action-packed blockbuster from acclaimed director Steven Spielberg and based on the novel by Michael Crichton.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park

Four years after Jurassic Park's genetically bred dinosaurs ran amok, multimillionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) shocks chaos theorist Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) by revealing that Hammond has been breeding more beasties at a secret location. Malcolm, his paleontologist ladylove (Julianne Moore) and a wildlife videographer (Vince Vaughn) join an expedition to document the lethal lizards' natural behavior in this action-packed thriller.

Jurassic Park III

In need of funds for research, Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) accepts a large sum of money to accompany Paul and Amanda Kirby(William H. Macy and Tea Leoni) on an aerial tour of the infamous Isla Sorna. It isn't long before all hell breaks loose and the stranded wayfarers must fight for survival as a host of new -- and even more deadly -- dinosaurs try to make snacks of them.Laura DernMichael JeterAlessandro Nivola and Trevor Morgan co-star.

I'll wait till only the first film is available.

I will probably use the same strategy I used for Back to the Future and The Magnificent Seven, and wait until the set drops to around the price of a single film release. I do not care for the sequel films for any of these sets, but will sacrifice a little shelf space for a larger box once the price drops to that of a single movie.

I guess I'll get this.

I enjoy all three movies and will pick up the whole set.  I'm very excited that Jurassic Park is finally coming out on Blu-ray!

Having titles like this come to Blu-ray is definitely good for the format and any Spielberg movies coming to Blu-ray is cool but these are two of my least favorite of his movies (the one he didn't direct is easily my favorite of the series). My guess is that this will be on sale at some point during the holidays so I'll hold off until then.

I hope they do something about the green tint in the first movie.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Universal just sent us over this image of the Limited Edition Blu-ray Trilogy Set

I'm in!

I like all three films...but seeing as how I just got the BTTF Trilogy for $14.99...it'll be hard to spend too much more on this particular set.

Some more...because I like this trilogy more.  But I'll still be looking for a deal.

What a nice year for releases this is turning out to be.  Some exciting stuff.

Definite purchase for me. I'm not too crazy about the second film - it feels oddly out of place, don't know why. The third one is loads of fun.

I enjoyed 2-3 on varying levels, so if the street date price is right, I'll buy this set.

I enjoyed them all.  And despite people who think otherwise, the special effects from the first one still work for me just fine.. :)   I will be eager to see the creatures in (non-cable) HD..

Great news, but I'll probably be waiting until the price drops or until there is a single film release of the original.  I love the first film, but could live without the others.

Loved the first one and really liked the third one. Didn't like some of the characters in the second one and that ending seemed desperate to me.

I just picked up the Back to the Future set for $15, in a standard 3-disc case with no digital copy discs. I'll pay more for the Jurassic Park movies, but I'm prepared to wait.

Very excited about this release, but with all of these

Blu-ray boxed sets being introduced, I am not rushing

out to buy them (Lord of the Rings included)

I am going to wait for Black Friday or Amazon Gold

Box deals.

I'll buy the "no junk" version, put the Blu-rays into a three-disk case and, of course, send the digital copies to the landfill, though they might make nifty-looking coasters!

As much as I'd love to say I'm gonna wait, I probably won't.  Especially if the swag version comes in cheap.  Something about the bookend/maquette entices me right now.

It's due to Julianna Moore being insanely hot she distracts from the dino action.... :P

I'll buy this eventually. Not with that stupid looking statue though. It looks like a cheap toy in the picture.

Same here.

I loved all 3 JP films and will get these. Same with the LotR trilogy. I'm in no hurry though and will wait for pricing on this set to decided if it's worthy of per-order, the LotR's can wait until a deal can be found.

I'm in with many here. I love the first one to death as it's a timeless classic well done for the sake of art... the other sequels... they suck so hard it could blow the gravitational force of a black hole out of the water. I hope they release a digibook of the first movie like they did with The Matrix (though I bought the Ultimate box nonetheless) as I plan not to buy the trilogy. Just give me the first one please...

Jeff, I don't think they have announced

Reading that from Universal always makes me worry. I just got the BTTF trilogy for $15, and considering the results, I think that was the right price for the set.

Hopefully Spielberg's clout will force them to do it right.  If they do a good job with it, I'd be interested in the first one, mostly because of the historical significance of the special effects.

At least this time I can buy a plastic toy dino and not get stares.

I'm in!

All three of these movies are on my "must own on Blu" list, so I'll probably be pre-ordering as soon as Amazon posts it up!

It's kinda' *shocking* to me, though, that we're getting Spielberg's self-avowed "Jaws" sequel, *before* the Real Thing!

The YouTube trailer doesn't look waxy, and given the likelihood that Spielberg will be personally involved with the transfers in the same way as CE3K, I'm not worried.

I gotsta say, I've never quite understood the love/praise heaped upon the first Jurassic Park, beyond the fact it was the first to believably portray CGI dinosaurs on the big screen. Don't get me wrong I think it was a damn fine popcorn flick with some nice moments and set pieces in it, but I always thought the pacing was off, and Spielberg's heart wasn't entirely in it (not surprising in that he was also working on Schindler's List at the same time). The first hour really drags too and as for those kids......! At times it really does feel like a theme-park ride too (the irony!), instead of a movie. I greatly preferred the original novel which was paced a lot better.

I much preferred the sequel - the pacing was far better, and it contained some absolutely classic Spielberg moments for me i.e. the whole van dangling off the cliff with Julianne Moore (hmmm!) trying not to move and crack the glass. Brilliant suspenseful moment which was pure Spielberg through and through - a very hitchcockian flavor too! Loved the effects and it just felt like a more exciting and visually spectacular film to me - and I love the huge wink/homage to Kong and Godzilla at the end of the film with T-Rex stomping and chomping its way through San Diago. There's also a scene with Japanese tourists looking on at T-Rex - it's obvious where this film is coming from and I love it's B-movie throwback moments - Jurassic Park comparatively took itself a little too seriously in places. I also preferred this film being centered around Malcolm and - frankly - thought Sam Neil's character was a little dull in the previous film. I also loved what John Williams did with this score, sending it in an almost jazzy direction at times. Perhaps it lacks the almost stately reverence to dinosaurs (at least when they're first viewed in the film) displayed in the first film, but The Lost World is a gloriously OTT, FUN film with it's tongue stuck firmly in cheek. I'm not claiming The Lost World is a masterpiece or anything like that, but I just think it's far more fun than the - at times - ponderous first film. There's no pretension there it's just a great ride!

I still haven't seen Jurassic Park III, but it looks pretty decent from the trailers I've seen. Anyone care to comment on its merits/demerits?

I think I'll have to get this set once it's down around the £30 mark here in the UK.

I'll pick up the whole set. Loved the first one, loathed the second one, and I was quite surprised by how much I enjoyed the third one.

I think the problem with the second movie are the leading characters. The film is written to portray Malcolm and his company as the good guys who are morally superior to the EVIL CORPORATION Ingen, yet they constantly do things that make matters worse which ends up getting a lot of people getting killed. What was Ingen doing that was so evil that it's worth jeopardizing the lives of all those people? Oh, they were just capturing dinosaurs to put in a zoo.... Isn't that what we still do today?

Part III was a refresher. I loved Grant's line when he's trying to answer questions at his presentation. "Are there any questions that don't involve Jurassic Park? Or the incident in San Diego, which I did not witness." And thank god you didn't Grant.
