HTF Search: Are you getting the results you want?

Hello,

 

We have had a lot of feedback from users about the search feature on HTF.  Huddler is very interested in addressing users opinions of how the search functionality works on HTF.

 

We would like to have some examples that HTF users are doing and if they are getting what they are looking for in search or if they are not getting what they are looking for in search.

 

We have added a poll also.

 

If you are not getting the results you are looking for in HTF search, please reply to this thread with the search text and what you are really expecing to see from the search results.

 

For example:

 

HTF Search phrase:  Sonos S5 review  (please include the URL that is used after the search)

 

What you really wanted:  Include the URL for the place on HTF that you really wanted to get to.

 

You can also compare the result with Google Search and let us know if that returns the result set you are expecting.

I've found HTF search to be almost completely useless in the past every time I've tried using it.

 

The search criteria seems to ignore my requests for title only searches, and if for example you ask it to search two terms it will give you every thread that contains any of them.

 

Will play around with it next few days and see how it looks today.

I haven't used the search in a bit of a while.

I was a big grumbler about this last year. I've found it much improved lately. I'll try to pay attention to some searches to see how well it's working for me, more specifically.

I was trying to find the current thread for How I Met Your Mother and wasn't having much luck. When I put the terms in quotations it got a little better, but the thread was still towards the bottom of the second page of results. 

 

I don't use search very often (I think), but I am beginning to use Google to do the searches and have added a bookmarklet to my browser to make it a little simpler.
