The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

I saw the photo and then the date and eek.gif.

Thanks Mike!  Some Like It Hot and The Misfits for me.

Just as a refresher here is Matt's review of the Alien boxset.  It is applicable for the movie only versions streeting this week:  http://www.hometheaterforum.com/forum/thread/305336/htf-blu-ray-review-alien-anthology

Claudette Colbert in THE SIGN OF THE CROSS.  The one woman who could make me straight!

Thanks for the info..have been waiting forever for this movie to break free from the expensive DeMille boxed set.  A definite purchase.

I'm thinking that renting Blue Valentine will be it this week.  Thanks, Mike!

As was scrolling right back up as soon as i read the words don't click!

Ahhh, the pre-Hayes Code days.

Another slow week for me. I may give Blue Valentine a rental but that's it.

Thanks for the prices! smile.gif

I didn't know My Little Chickadee was coming out in a separate release.  Sextette a few weeks ago, and now this one.  If only someone would put out The Heat Is On, we'd have all the Mae West films on disc.

Not sure who lives by a Fred Meyer, but they have two advertised specials this week that are pretty good:

$9.99 titles on Blu-ray: RED (Special Edition w/ Lossless audio), Eat Pray Love, Karate Kid (remake), Alvin and the Chipmunks (Squeakquel), Black Swan and Grownups.

Selected Sony Blu-ray and DVD titles B1G1: Over 160 titles.  Pictured titles are Year One, Mall Cop and Step Brothers.

Red and Black Swan for $9.99 are too good to pass up if you don't have them.

Nothing again this week. No Strings Attached and Some Like It Hot are somewhere in my Netflix queue, I'm sure. Thanks Mike!

Aw shit, I'd love to get Black Swan for $9.99, but I've never even heard of a Fred Meyer store. frown.gif I mean, it'll be selling for ten bucks by the end of the year somewhere else, but I'd love to have that movie right now.

Thanks Mike for the Colbert You Tube link.  Two kitties drinking from the bath at the end of the clip.  Subtle. smile.gif

Mike, thanks for the heads-up on the BB Trade & Save program. Amazingly enough, everything went completely smoothly at the store!

Give up some details Tim.  smile.gif

How many titles did you trade in and what did you pick up?  Any good deals listed?  I haven't checked out the list on the website.

I've got a lot of stinker titles that I think I'd be doing well to get $5 for...  biggrin.gif

Thanks for another WRU, Mike.

Not much of interest to me this week other than that BB trade-in deal and maybe The Illusionist and Something Wild on rental and/or if/when their prices come down a lot -- well, guess I might be interested in upgrading Something Like It Hot if/when its price gets slashed deeper as well.

I'm a little confused by the wording of that BB trade-in deal though:

Quote:
Not valid with any other discount or package.  Markdown taken from original price.  . . .  Not valid with any other offer.

That whole thing (including the sentence I emphasized) reads to me like you wouldn't get whatever current sale pricing (vs BB's regular non-sale pricing) when using the coupons, but then the actual listed sample cases would seem to have the coupons applied to current sale prices.

So would the coupons be applied on top of whatever current sale prices?  Perhaps, "original price" just meant the current sale price for each of those select titles?

Anyway, the BB site seems to have a full list of those qualifying titles at this link, but no prices are listed for them:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Movies+Promotions/null/pcmcat240800050006.c?id=pcmcat240800050006&h=387

There are some interesting titles there.  Anyone know the details of that 1-disc Hereafter?  Didn't know there was a 1-disc version (and not sure I see it listed on BB's site).  Is it just exactly the same as the BD in the combo pack minus the DVD and digital copy?  For instance, does it still include all the extras, including the relatively lengthy doc on Eastwood?  I rented it from Blockbuster, but only got the movie-only rental exclusive version.

Thanks again...

I love Home Improvement but I never bought any of the DVDs. Now with this Limited Edition Toolbox set AND Amazon's promotional $20 off the current $89.99 price (code: HOMEIMPR), you can get this entire set for $69.99:  $8.75 per season plus the extra stuff!  It's still expensive overall, but this deal is too good (unless the price goes down even more after ordering it).

Bieber Fever Time!

(not for me . . . for my daughters)

Amazon has matched BB's and Target's $19.99 price on Justin Bieber: Never Say Never (Blu-ray + Combo +Digital Copy). I just pre-ordered my copy using the HTF link above.

Thanks as always for the WRU Mike!

And, based on the above discussion (and the YouTube clip), I have added Sign of the Cross to my Netflix queue.

I just traded in four old titles from my big stack of DVDs I haven't watched in years and years. I picked up The Dark Knight at $14.99-$5= $9.99, Predators at $19.99-$5=$14.99, Matrix Reloaded at $14.99-$5=$9.99, and Book of Eli at $14.99-$5=$9.99.

In response to the questions regarding pricing, the list of 153 or so Blurays is set for the life of the promotion (ends 6/4/11, I believe). They are all tiered at $9.99, $14.99, and $19.99, and the $5 off is taken from those prices. Some of them are sale prices at those tiers, and some of them are not. Regardless, the $5 off is taken from that price. Please be aware that the $5 off is NOT stackable, so you can't trade in four DVDs and get a free $20 Bluray. Other than that, if you're like me and need to build your Bluray collection, there are some deals to be had. Tears of the Sun, for example, is priced at $9.99-$5 for a total of $4.99.

BTW, just noticed that FoxConnect.com actually has these 2 for $12.99 each -- and you can probably find a 10%-off + free shipping coupon somewhere to use for the order.

Never saw The Misfits before, but I'm tempted to get either or both to go w/ a few others that are still sitting my shopping cart there, eg. Benny & Joon ($9.99), Death at a Funeral (UK version, $12.99), maybe Anastasia ($14.99).  Blu-ray.com has a review of Some Like It Hot (w/ screencaps) up now.

Check amazon cause I think the four Alien movies are $14.99 each or were yesterday.

With that BB trade-in program, do you have to trade in the DVD version of the same movie on Blu, or can you mix and match?

Reading the Trade & Save more carefully, it seems like I can trade in any DVD (except adult content) for a $5 coupon towards one of those Blu-rays.  The DVD does not have to be one of the movies on the Blu-ray list.  Is that anyone's experience?

That is correct.

I have made 2 trips and turned in a total of 8 DVDs.  In both cases I went to the customer service counter gave them the DVDs they scanned and gave me coupons to use on any title on the approved list.  At my store they didn't even open the cases they took the titles set them on the counter gave me coupons and sent me on my way.

To give you an idea what I turned in:

Arthur

Neverending story

soylent green

Batman return of the joker (Original DVD not the re-released PG-13 DVD)

Gamera the giant monster (a 2 dollar new alliance DVD)

Second trip:

Scooby Doo and the Cyber chase

Galaxina

Scooby Doo the Aloha adventure (Something like that)

Picked up the following:

Inside Man

American werewolf in london

Rundown

Unstoppable

life as we know it

Faster

Office space

The Town

I would probably have gone back for a coupe more but there isn't anything on the list that needed or didn't already have.  This beats turning them into a local used store for a buck or 2 a DVD.

Hope this helps
