I first found out about Odeon Entertainment's DVD releases on a DVD news website, and was interested by some of the titles they've released and are releasing. They're a mixture of British and Hollywood movies. The link to their website is below:

Do they sell movies that you can play on a regular dvd player or do you need an all region player to play their dvds ?

I have the DeMille's NORTH WEST MOUNTED POLICE with Gary Cooper from them and it's region 2 so I would assume you would need a region free player. It's a nice and vivid Technicolor transfer though.

They have a licensing deal with Universal UK which allows access to that company's holdings, hence the Universal and RKO titles. Of late, they've been doing some good stuff. Not up on their own site, but coming in May from them are Hawks' The Big Sky and Tourneur's Experiment Perilous

I have The Locket and Scarlet Street from Odeon, both are not region coded.

I haven't got any of their titles yet so I can't answer your question at the moment, but Assignment Redhead (which I'm interested in seeing) is released in the UK tomorrow.

Even though they are listed as "region-free" they are still PAL format discs so you would need a player that cna convert PAL to NTSC.

Has anyone here got Odeon's 'digitally remastered' release of the Robert Redford film Tell Them Willie Boy is Here (1969)?

I'm surprised this news about The Big Sky hasn't received more discussion or is there another seperate thread on this film's release?  There have been a lot of people waiting for this DVD release. The release date has now been put back to 8th August.  Would be good to see a review to determine how this differs transfer-wise from the previously released Spanish and French versions?  Sadly this UK release is the cut version as the film's duration is 122 mins approx. Has there been any more recent news of The Big Sky getting its long-awaited release on DVD in the USA?

The Universal MOD of this title is one of their better transfers.  That is after you get past the titles in Windowbox.  The film color is as it was during the time of the release and the transfer is anamorphic.

Good list of titles and going to go for a couple, but I'm going to hold out on a Falcon Collection from Warner Archives.  The George Sanders Saint Collection was outstanding.

I'm interested in the following titles from the list in post #13:

Armoured Car Robbery, The Body Snatcher, Cornered and The Narrow Margin.

Shall be interesting to see how the Odeon release of Experiment Perilous compares to the Warner Archive disc.

The BBFC have added a couple of new listings for Odeon Entertainment titles, for Promises! Promises! (1963) (starring Jayne Mansfield) and Outlaw Women (1952). The former title was added yesterday and the latter title was added today. Both have UK release dates of Monday 10th October.

Couple more new listings added to the BBFC website today for Odeon Entertainment titles, Four Fast Guns (1960) and Portland Expose (1957). They have UK release dates of Monday 17th October and Monday 10th October respectively.

Stranger On Horseback has long been readily available in the U.S. via VCI Entertainment.

But new to Region 2 (UK) DVD.

Four Fast Guns and Stranger on Horseback are coming out a week earlier on Monday 10th October, as part of a boxset of three westerns, the other film in the set being Outlaw Women. The set's name is called Darn Good Westerns Set #1 (release date of Monday 10th October).

Another forthcoming Odeon Entertainment title (but not yet passed by the BBFC for DVD yet) is The Emperor Jones (1933). Release date of Monday 17th October.

I think considering a lot of VCI titles being released by Odeon, the transfers are going to be identical and Stranger on Horseback will use a BFI print.

Odeon's own website has a listing for Darn Good Westerns Set # 2 (Hellgate, Panhandle, Shotgun) for October 17

An Odeon rep has said in a Facebook post that they are currently looking at releasing 40 more RKO and Fox titles next year.

Shotgun (1955) was passed by the BBFC last Wednesday (31st August). That had a UK release date of Monday 24th October. Hellgate (1952) and Panhandle (1948) haven't been passed again by the BBFC yet. Darn Good Westerns #2 is available to pre-order on Amazon UK. There is now front cover artwork for the first Darn Good Westerns set on Amazon UK:

That's welcoming and promising about further RKO and Fox titles next year.

Both Darn Good Westerns sets are available for pre-order on Amazon UK

Like I said above, Odeon's own web site has artwork for all these releases, including The Emperor Jones and Darn Good Westerns #2

You'll find that Renown is listed as the studio for Darn Good Westerns #2 on the Amazon UK listing page, when it's available to pre-order on Odeon's website.

Two new titles being released by Odeon Entertainment in November (source: Amazon UK):

The Comeback (Digitally Remastered) (1978) - Monday 7th November (previously released on DVD in the UK by Anchor Bay Entertainment)

Caught in the Act (1997) - Monday 7th November.

Also, the BBFC passed Odeon's DVD releases of The Emperor Jones, Hellgate and Panhandle on Tuesday, giving each title a 'PG' certificate. The release date for The Emperor Jones on it's new BBFC listing page is Monday 17th October (which is the same on it's Amazon UK listing page). The releases for Hellgate and Panhandle (Monday 24th October and Monday 17th October respectively) contradict the Monday 31st October release date on Amazon UK's listing page for Darn Good Westerns #2.
