There are several different Astaire/Rogers sets available. Can anyone suggest the one with the best picture quality? Thanks!

As far as I know, the DVDs have all been repackaged with the same sets.  I haven't heard of any remasters of these.  Being mostly RKO titles, the prints vary a bit from movie to movie, but are usually very good.  The Complete Film Collection is the same as the Vol. 1 and 2 sets, just repackaged into a sturdier box with the discs placed into thin cases.

Agree, this is just about a good as they will get, unless Warner decides to go Blu-ray on a title or two.  And I don't think that will happen

In this 2009 article (

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/David_Krauss/Warner_Brothers/Industry_Trends/Blu_About_The_Slow_Release_of_Classic_Titles_On_Blu-ray_Take_Heart!_(UPDATED)/2502) George Feltenstein was taking about doing a 1080 scan of Top Hat and releasing A&R titles on Blue Ray in 2010.  That didn't happen.  I think I also recall an article where he indicated he wanted to release all of the A&R titles and the Thin Man series on Blue Ray at once instead of dribbling them out.  The latest New York Post interview with him indicates that classic titles have not done as well on Blue Ray as he would have liked.  My guess is that A&R titles will make it to BR, but they may wait until more classic fans have upgraded their home media.
