The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Fry's Electronics' Friday ad (for Houston, at least) featured the A.I. Blu-ray available Tuesday for $9.99. That may be it for me this week.

Thanks as always for your hard work compiling these updates.

The Fiddler and Arthur blu-rays are both on their way to me via Amazon.

I hope Fiddler looks/sounds as good as I imagine it might.  And, finally...a widescreen release of Arthur.  I can't believe that Arthur was released on DVD in 1997 (according to amazon)!  Yessir...a pan-and-scan snapper case effort from Warner!

Wow the deluxe package of Tron is cheaper at Best Buy, plus you can use the Disney coupon for another $5 off.

Thanks for the prices Mike!

Nothing erally for me, although I might check out TRON at one point...boy, do I remember all the hoopla over the special effects when the original came out!

Thanks, Mike!

Best Buy has the Rush: Moving Pictures Deluxe Edition (remastered CD + Blu-ray) [or remastered CD + DVD] out this Tuesday for $19.99 and $17.99, respectively.  Amazon.com says they're releasing the CD/BD combo on May 3 (!) for $26.51 (updated: now $19.99; still May 5).

As usual, awesome work Mike!

I'll pick up Taxi Driver this week. I think that A.I. will be on sale at Best Buy or Target soon so I'll just wait on that.

Thanks for the prices! smile.gif

Taxi Driver, more than likely, since I'm never seen it.  (I know, I know)  Return of the Joker and AI at some point, but not right now.  And I've already gotten as much Tron as I have interest in with the soundtrack to Legacy.  I'm getting off easy this week...

For those thinking of getting the 5-disc standard packaging of TRON/TRON: Legacy set at Best Buy, you may want to consider purchasing the titles individually.

5-Disc Combo Pack (includes TRON on BD only): $49.95 - $5.00 DMR coupon = $44.95

4-Disc TRON: Legacy Combo Pack: $26.99 - $5.00 DMR coupon = $21.99

2-Disc TRON BD/DVD Combo Pack: $24.99 - $5.00 TRON: Legacy discount = $19.99

Total Cost: $41.98 (plus you get TRON on DVD)

Adam posted a grid of what each version contains here.

Or better get it at Target if you have one available (assuming BB doesn't  change its prices to match Target on Tuesday like they often will)

4 Disc  Tron: Legacy  24.99

2 Disc  Tron Classic  19.99 - $8 combination purchase

Total Cost - 36.98

If you have the Target Bunny Munny coupon if you can get one and you should be able to get at least another $5 discount -- 31.98 (+tax)

There are possibly some other coupon combinations that may work to bring it down further.

Or just take the Target ad with you to BB and request price matching. smile.gif

This is a pretty busy week as far as DVDs go for me. Narnia and Little Fockers for the wife; Taxi Driver and Fiddler for me.

Car 54 next week.

I believe the Return Of The Joker Blu is not the uncut version (and not in widescreen), so I'm definitely passing on that.

One of the reasons I'm waiting on reviews.  However, the cover art on DVD Empire shows a PG-13 rating on the BD.  It also says very clearly at the top of the cover: "The original, uncut version."  So unless someone in marketing totally fouled this up...  The back cover is here for anyone interested.

World's Finest gives the disc a very positive review.  This the uncut version based on what I'm reading.  As for the video, I think this is the same thing we went through with Justice League, right?

I just popped the DVD in and...dear lord...it looks terrible.  Dreadfully terrible.

Possibly, but so many BB will balk at PM with extra discounts and then coupons too.    Lots of variables which makes this such a weird release to find

the lowest price.

FYI amazon dropped the deluxe collector version of Tron to match everyone else to $64.99. if you ordered it when it first went up you also get another $5 off from amazon.

Huh.  Well, they SHOULD be on their way to me.  But amazon says, instead, that they will "Ship Soon."

I wonder what's up with that?  confused.gif

Bah!  I'm really back and forth on this.  I'm away with the kids on spring break and was planning on hitting a Best Buy and picking this up.  I have a $25 general gift card, $5 rewards coupon, and the $5 disney coupon with me which would bring the price down to $7 for me.

With the Target deal, I have the Bunny Munny coupon at home which would make the set still only cost $7 (with said gift card), but I'd get to hold on to the rewards coupon for something later on.  My concern is if I wait until I get home Target might be sold out of the sets.

Hmm.  I see Target and Best Buy are right next door to each other here.  Maybe I'll grab a flyer from Target, run over to Best Buy and try and get a price match.  Then it'll only cost me $2!

Wasn't Return of the Joker made for television several years ago? Why would it be widescreen?

My review of A.I. on blu is now posted...

Oh, don't tell me that.  I keep hearing wonderful things about Taxi Driver and I want it to be everything I've heard.  (Plus my partner loves Jodie Foster but has never seen her in this.  I want his mind to be BLOWN.)

I think the director's cut was widescreen while the edited version was fullscreen, if the IMDb is to be believed.  Quite frankly, Warner is giving this movie the same treatment is gave Justice League and I have no problem with that.  If Mask of the Phantasm or Mystery of the Batwoman are released in 1.33:1, then we have a problem.

Just got back from Target and the $5 Disney Movie Rewards coupon worked on top of the $8 discount. Total for the 4 disc Tron Legacy and 2 disc Tron classic...$31.98!banana.gif

Jason, I think you will love Taxi Driver! It's one of the films from the 1970s that come to mind when you think of that era of filmmaking. It is an excellent movie and a classic!

Tino,

I can confirm that worked for me at Target, too!

Target has a "save $8" when you buy both Tron and Tron Legacy that they will allow you to combine with Disney's $5 off coupon for the 4 or 5 disc set.

I got the

--4 disc Tron Legacy 3D/2D/DVD/Digital set $24.99, minus $5 coupon = $19.99

--2 disc Tron Blu/DVD combo for $19.99

then got $8 off for buying both, and paid at total of $31.98 for six discs.

That is one disc more than the five disc complete combo set, which is listed at $49.99.

That's what I'm banking on, Eric.  Scorsese, DeNiro, Foster and a lot of people who love it.  The worst that will happen is $12 for a movie I don't like.  Been there, done that before!

I was wanting to check it out in the theater a few weeks back, but other stuff kinda got in the way.

At Best Buy, Tron came up like this:

Tron Legacy Blu/DVD $19.99

Tron Classic Blu/DVD $14.99

Pleasant surprise!

I went with the 4 Disc  Tron: Legacy  24.99 & 2 Disc  Tron Classic  19.99 at Target, out the door for $35 and change.

Used the $5 Disney reward and got the $8 combo discount.

Not bad, considering I was going to buy the 5 disc for $50 at Best Buy...getting the separates gives you a regular DVD of Classic Tron that's not included in the 5 disc set....and $13 cheaper when all is said and done.

Take 'em back and go to Target if you have one near you. You paid $34.98 for 4 discs and at Target you get SIX for $31.98. Every dollar helps right?smile.gif
