Which actors or actresses should stop making movies?

This could be interesting.

What actor or actress do you detest so much

that you refuse to watch any of their films?

I have two actors in particular that I wish would

stop making films altogether....

Basically, these two actors have a lot in common.

They are what I consider to be "one hit wonders"

where they play the same lame type of role time

and time again.

I don't think Will Ferrell bothers me as much as

Jack Black, who single-handedly ruined the film

King Kong for me.   Still will never understand

how Black was cast in such a huge film like that.

So, do any of you have similar dislikes towards

a particular actor or actress that you totally avoid

watching their films?

Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robins.  While great actors, I can't stand every time they get the spot light they use it to force their political views down our throats. You're not special, we don't care what you think, just act.

None.  If someone wants to hire them and others want to see them, that's fine with me.  Just because I don't like someone doesn't mean they shouldn't make movies any more...

I completely agree with Ron on this one.  The first name that came to my mind was Will Ferrell but Jack Black is not far behind.

It's the movie and not the actor for me. For example, I hate Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore but I'm glad that I didn't institute a no-Sandler policy because he's great in Punch Drunk Love and Funny People.

Agree on Sandler.
Don't agree on Ferrell he makes me laugh.

Yeah, Adam Sandler is tied with my top two choices

as well.  Can't believe I forgot about him.

I won't even look at an Adam Sandler movie.  He's

not funny....period!

I'm with Travis.  Adam Sandler has been in some really stupid movies, but he's also been very good in straighter roles (Cf. films like Spanglish or Funny People).  Personally, I'd be more inclined to avoid particular writers or directors than actors.  And even then I don't think there's anyone I would write off entirely.

Jack Black and Will Ferrell have done some good work, but they've both made a habit of doing caricatures of a recurring shtick.  There are only so many times one can watch the same thing, I guess.  But I won't write off a movie solely because it stars someone like that.

While I don't care for the in-your-face politics of people like Sean Penn or Susan Sarandon, if they're in a good movie that's fine by me.

I wouldn't shed a single tear if I never saw Jennifer Aniston do anything in any media again.

My number one vote is the guy whose making those jack ass movies... such a waste of time of life!

Next I would vote JLo.... She should just stick to making music videos half naked...

You know what? My choice isn't someone I hate. It's someone I used to love. It's someone who holds a very dear place in my heart.

Harrison Ford

My wife and I watched "Morning Glory" last week and he slept walked through the entire thing. It was ironic how the character he played, a former anchor who's phoning it in to fulfill a contract, closely mirrored his performance in the movie. Harrison Ford has growled his way through every one of his performances for the last ten years. He's obviously over the whole thing. It's time for him to retire.

I agree with most here.......Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Owen Wilson, and Ben Stiller are all pretty grating to have to watch on screen.  Ferrell and Sandler are the worst tho, I don't remember the last movie I saw with one of them in it.

I agree Chad about Harrison Ford, I get uneasy and a little embaressed ever since I saw the made for TV movie trailer with B. Frasier.

Will Farrell (Farrell has never made me laugh. Not once)

Seth Rogen (who has played the exact same person in every movie Ive seen him in)

Russell Brand

I'm also sick of John Depp and Robert Downey jr

To add to this. I hope Rob Zombie never makes another film.

Agree on Adam Sandler.....but I love Jack Black. At least some of his stuff. School of Rock is one of my modern favorites. He OWNS that role.

Sean Penn is another. Not sure I remember paying to see a film of his.

Seth Rogan is simply unfunny to me. I'm sure he's a good guy etc...but just don't like his films. He irritates the heck out of me.

Chris Rock too.

Harrison Ford still has great potential if it's the right role. But there are a few....

If I never see any of the no talent Karsashins again it will be too soon.

Jennifer Aniston is another good one. If you haven't even heard of 'Management' there is a reason. Holy cow.

Kathryn Heigl is one of the mist embarrassing one note actresses to get gigs. Outside of Knocked Up, she's been awful. She has no depth at all.

Ashton Kutcher is last on my list. Please go away.

I don't have strong opinions about major actors. But I groan every time Ivana Miličević shows up in a bit role, and it is too often for my tastes.

I don't like Olivia Wilde. I didn't see Tron Legacy because of her. Not too fond of MATT DAMON! either.

Zach Galifianakis.  One note has been.

Adam Sandler is a huge turn-off for me.  But I also really dislike (except for one case where he was "okay,") Tom Hanks.  Something about him just... eugh!  ("Okay" was Apollo XIII, where he sort of fit.)

I am surprised nobody mentioned Nicholas Cage.

There's a guy whose career ended years ago.

Can't believe the stuff he is doing these days.

Yeah I used to LOVE Cage. One of my faves. But wow....what has happened? Sad.

Generally, actors win an Oscar and become somewhat more discriminating in the roles they choose. Nicolas Cage won an Oscar and then seemingly decided to do as many bad movies as he could find. In his defense, I think he loves B-grade movies and enjoys doing those kind of movies but he's made some odd (read: bad) choices since winning the Oscar 15 years ago.

Cage has gotten a second wind, I'd say somewhere around THE WICKER MAN, from hipsters who have elevated him for his total lack of self-consciousness and willingness to play bat-shit insane, no matter the quality of the material. He also had tax problems, so that might have led him into doing anything that came across his desk.

The actors I hate are the ones who seemed to have gotten the big push in Hollywood for no good reason, and have proven to be crap in the films. So I present:

Shia Labeouf - He's been the same, one-note, mediocre panicked guy in every film I've seen of him. (I've not seen Wallstreet 2, I hear he's terrible in it.) "Disturbia" was a mediocre "Rear Window" remake that launched him in to the mega-hit stratosphere of "Transformers" and "Indiana Jones". So he's considered box office and seems to continue to infect way to many films with his horrid performances. Let's face it, Transformers and Indiana Jones were critic proof, people were going to see these movies. No one praised LaBeouf for his performances, hell, Lebeouf even admitted he was crap! No one has ever uttered the words "I can't wait to see what Shia Labeouf is going to do next. Hollywood, FIRE THIS MAN! (Plus his name makes my spell check go crazy, this fact should of been enough of a red flag to know that he should never of gotten the big push.)

Sam Worthington - The same as Labeouf. He came out of nowhere, starred in a guaranteed success that is Terminator whatever it was and Avatar, and now seems to be another go to star. "Clash Of The Titans" should of proved he can't carry a film since it did poorly with critics and audiences. So what does Hollywood do? THEY MAKE A SEQUEL? And keep Sam in the lead? "Just kidding guys! We know we know, that 3D Clash Of The Titans was shit, we're going to do it right this time. Seriously! You can trust us! So prebuy your tickets ok? Please?"

Yup, fire these two!

I agree with Seth Rogan. The only film of his I liked was "Observe and Report". It was also the only film he's made where he isn't a giggling pot head. His voice work is probably going to keep me away from "Paul" despite the appeal of Pegg and Frost.

You hear that Hollywood? Lebeouf and his weird name, Worthington and his face and Rogan and his giggles are keeping me away fro the movies! FIRE THEM!

And those three draw millions into theaters every year so the chances of Hollywood "firing" them are about as good as me having a threesome with Mila Kunis and Scarlett Johansson.

Having watched these three since the beginnings of their film careers, I think the extent of their political expression has been much exaggerated, but I guess it depends on one's sensitivities. I don't consider anyone to be in a position to "force" a political view down my throat, unless they wield genuine power, which actors most assuredly do not. So if one disagrees with an actor's political views, the best thing would be to keep them making movies so that they're too busy to do anything to implement those views (like, for example, running for office -- it's been known to happen smiley_wink.gif ).
