Fast-Paced Action Comedy Hits the Streets on Blu-ray™ for the First Time Ever

May 17, 2011 with Nearly an Hour of Special Features

HOLLYWOOD, CALIF. – The heat is on in the outrageously funny and action-packed comedy BEVERLY HILLS COP, arriving on Blu-ray May 17, 2011 from Paramount Home Entertainment.  Eddie Murphy stars as Axel Foley, a street smart Detroit cop tracking down his best friend's killer in Beverly Hills.  Axel quickly learns that his wild style doesn't fit in with the Beverly Hills Police Department, which assigns two officers (Judge Reinhold & John Ashton) to make sure things don't get out of hand.  Dragging the stuffy detectives along for the ride, Axel smashes through a huge culture clash in his hilarious, high-speed pursuit of justice.  Featuring cameos by Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot and Damon Wayans, BEVERLY HILLS COP is an exhilarating, sidesplitting adventure.

The BEVERLY HILLS COP Blu-ray includes a look at the phenomenon that the movie started when it was released in 1984, a glimpse inside the casting process, a featurette on the music, an exploration of locations from the film and commentary by director Martin Brest.

The BEVERLY HILLS COP Blu-ray is presented in 1080p high definition with English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, French 2.0 Surround Dolby Digital, Spanish 5.1 Surround Dolby Digital and Portuguese 5.1 Surround Dolby Digital with English, English SDH, French, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles.  The disc includes the following special features:

Great news.

Hopefully, we´ll get a better transfer than Murphy´s "48 Hours"....- but somehow I´ve got the feeling that the picture quality won´t be good!

I haven't been terribly impressed by a lot of catalog Blu's lately, particularly 48 Hrs. Some people believe that certain films of this era were just shoddily produced, used bad film stock, etc. I believe it's just plain laziness on the studios' part. Many are using recycled DVD transfers. Until I see a glowing review for BHC I'll just stick with my DVDs

Odd that they are not releasing the trilogy.  I'm waiting to see how PQ is since Paramount has not been good and catalogs and remastering.

It is odd that they aren't releasing the Trilogy.  I figure its the only way BHC3 would sell smile.gif.  Either way I am all over it.

This is a must-own for me, I just hope it looks as decent as HDNet's presentations I've seen.

Perhaps someone like Best Buy is going to sell the trilogy as an Exclusive.
