Editor or Reply Box problem? Please let us know! - Page 2

I'm on FF 3.6.11, but I'm experiencing little bits of new weirdness over the past several days.  I thought this was because it's taking so long for pages to load, but I'll click in the reply box to start posting, and either that or the first keystroke knocks me to the top of the page.

In similar fashion, clicking on "More" to display more threads on the home page does absolutely nothing until the page has finished loading.  For a while, several weeks ago, doing that was knocking me to the top of the page.  That finally stopped after a while and it's been behaving normally; i.e., clicking on it overrides whatever's going on and activates the "More"... which is how web pages have always worked, in my experience... you interrupt one thing by clicking on another.  Now the "More" doesn't work until it's damned good and ready.

Also, new behavior on my "Subscriptions" page:

When I read a thread and go back to the Subscriptions listing, the page no longer un-bolds the thread names that have been read.  This is because the page isn't refreshing itself like it always used to.  In other words, I can click on this thread, post this response, go back to the listing, and not only is the thread name not un-bolded, it also hasn't moved up from its prior position.  This started several days ago, and it only happens on "Subscriptions".  From the home page and I think all others, this stuff is still behaving normally.

I can't duplicate Charles.  I tried using the Subscriptions link in the upper right and the activity feed in the All Forums: drop down.  Every time I visit a thread via linking from my subscriptions and I go back to my subscriptions via either the the link or hitting the back button the title is unbolded.  I'm using IE8/win7 and I tried on two PCs.  Is is still happening and if so what browser and OS are you using?

Vista Home Premium, Firefox 3.6.11

My first suspicion with some of these things is that the browser is the culprit, and for that reason I'm usually reluctant to post them.  But yes, still happening, and it's just off this one page, using the Subscriptions link at top right.  And this is by using the Back button.  If I hit Subscriptions to get back, that refreshes the page just fine, as does manually refreshing it while I'm on it.

I opened a ticket.

I think my clicking in the Reply box only to find myself thrown right out of it is due to the page not having completely loaded.  They seem to be taking longer lately, at least for me, and I think it's the ads.  I'm not complaining about them (I disabled Adblocker for all of HTF, and this is one place where I do want to know what's there -- but boy, there's a wait sometimes.

Same problems as Sam posted on the last page, using Firefox 4.0 on Mac OSX 10.6.6. Switching over to the newest version of Chrome for Mac OSX resolves.

The editor has not been loading properly this weekend. As this screenshot shows, I have none of the controls and can't quote, add video, etc.

OS X 10.6

Safari (latest version)

Thanks, I got it reported.  Any other info that might help?  When did it start, is it intermittent, etc.

I've think it's been like this all weekend, since Friday maybe. I was away from my computer all week so I don't know if it would have happened earlier. It's always like this now.

Safari 5.0.5

OS X 10.6.8

I can't edit colour in the reply box. It gives me no options, just does this.

There is an information text saying "The rich text editor is not compatible with your browser. You may see some HTML source displayed. Any BBCode you enter will be converted to HTML when you save."

I'm using Firefox 7.0.1. this is the only website I've had an issue with. Using a Windows 7 home premium.

I'm also getting the pop up box when posting saying "please wait" that never goes away unless I click repeatedly around it.

Same with me. Ever since the latest Firefox update the HTML coding has been broken with that error message.

I have not been able to edit posts on my work computer for several weeks.

OS: Windows XP Professional Version 2002 w/ Service Pack 3

Browser: IE 8  (8.0.6001.18702CO)

When posting a new post (such as now) it ususally hangs up, but if I re-load the browser screen, the post goes through.  When I try to edit an existing post, it gets stuck in a never ending "Please Wait" mode.  It happens 100% of the time.

Starting today, every time i post, then hit submit, i get multiple submissions. As many as 5, but then if i refresh the page, it may only show 3 or 4...of the same post.

But i am only hitting submit once. Using Chrome on a Mac.

Thanks for any help!

And of course it didnt do it that time! LOL

I regularly have Editor/Reply Box troubles but generally get there. However, tonight I want to do the quick POLL on Hitchcock Blu Rays but the boxes did not let me entering the tick etc.

I've been noticing a new phenomena whenever I use the "Quote" feature.

If I click "Quote," it will reproduce the appropriate post in the Edit Box...but all the blank lines which serve as paragraph breaks go missing.  So all the text is lumped into one big mess.

Here's a visual example.

Here's the original post:

And here's what it looks like when "Quoted:"

That's been behavior for me for a month or more.

We loaded a new version of the editor this week.  Let me know if its cleared up any of these issues.

It hasn't had any effect on the issue I pointed out in Post #48 Adam.

All blank lines within text are eliminated in the "quote" feature.  It creates a real jumble of text which needs to be straightened out by the person who does the "quoting."

I missed that, but it seems to have put the empty line in your quote?

I know they did tweak the editor a few weeks ago to take out all the extra lines around the quote, but not in the quote.

Okay...that's just weird.  When I quote you (Adam) the blank lines are in place...but when I quote Rick, the blank lines disappear.

Probably my strangeness on this end.

My latest "new" problem is when i hit submit i get a box that pops up, it says, "i need to type something first". When i close that box, my post shows up. Happens all the time now.

Of course when i submit this post, it will not happen. smile.gif

Try clearing your cache and see if it still happens.  If it does, let me know your OS and browser versions.
