The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Thanks Mike!  I finally get to finish my Saw collection this week for about the same price as a ticket was going for around here.  I'm ready to have my overactive imagination screw me over while watching.

Maybe I'll use How to Train Your Dragon as the second film in the double feature.  Ya know...for the warm and fuzzies.  tongue.gif

Similar to my double feature today of The Road and Disney's Aladdin. biggrin.gif

I will also likely be completing my Saw series at that price.

Oh man, Malcolm, I braved The Road once...don't think I could EVER do it again.  Unrelenting gloom and doom, not a ray of sunlight...I'd need a bright, sunny, warm day to counteract the negative vibes from The Road!

I really want to see Waiting for Superman, but I'm not sure what the repeat viewing potential is.  Then again, they will donate $25 to the classroom project of your choice via donorschoose.org so its kind of a wash.  I've never seen Chaplin and have only heard good things about it including Michaels review.  I would also like to upgrade my ancient Rain Man DVD to Blu-ray.

Definitely renting "Superman" as I'm a sucker for documentaries...

I'll pick up The Twilight Zone: Season Three Blu-ray at some point in the future when I see a sale.

Thanks for the prices! smile.gif

My review for Waiting for Superman will be up today. I am having trouble editing it down from the 4 pages I wrote (that's a little long for a review, I think). But suffice to say, its very, very good.

My review for the last SAW film should be up today also - that one...not so good.

I'm still kicking myself for not seeing Waiting For Superman in the theater.  I will see it now soon.  Although I am actually considering a DVD purchase rather than Blu just to save the few bucks.  As I agree with Adam's question about the likelihood of repeat viewings, I may also want to share with those non-Blu members of my family.  But I will wait to see Neil's review before making that decision.

I've never seen Chaplin...but have always wanted to.  My new found appreciation for Robert Downey, Jr.--combined with Michael Reuben's review--mean that will also be a title viewed sometime soon at my home.

And, I, too, will be curious to hear about the PQ & SQ of Rain Man on Blu.  There are a number of nice catalog releases on Blu this week...but this is one that really stands up for repeated viewings with my family.  K-Mart sucks.

Success at getting Salt for $10 ($13.99 - $5 coupon + tax) at Best Buy using the $5 manufacturer's coupon found in Resident Evil, etc. Didn't work at the register, but the Customer Service people let me, even though the coupon says cannot be combined with other special offers or discounts.

I went by Ultimate Electronics, and not only are they chapter 11 but they're closing the stores too. Current discount on BluRays is only 20% off, which isn't worth mentioning since they managed to reprice most of their lower priced discs at a higher price to make no actual discount. Maybe later it will be better. Circuit City II.

If you have any gift cards for Borders, I'd use them in the next day or two. They should be filing for Chapter 11 sometime this week, and no word if they'll honor the gift cards while in restructuring.

When my local Circuit City closed, the discounts were pretty good.  I got a bunch of CDs for $2-$3, plus some BDs.  The best deal was that John Mayer concert BD for 1 penny!

Anyone know if The Karate Kid (the new one) on BD is a "selected other" at Target?

Unless they're actually liquidating, I wouldn't be too worried. It would be a PR disaster for them not to accept them if they intend to actually remain in business.

That would be my take on it too. That being said, if I did have any Borders gift cards, I wouldn't gamble on my guess. smile.gif

Coupons.com has several coupons for dvd and blu-ray. check entertainment.

A handful interesting catalog BD releases this week.

Will probably (finally) pick up Chaplin (as I never bought the old DVD) and upgrade a few others sooner or later.

Thanks, Mike.

Yeah, noticed they have $5 coupons for Rain Man and Thelma & Louise.  Will probably drop by the local BB after work tomorrow for them...

BTW, is it just me or are we finally seeing Blu-ray following DVD's footsteps toward becoming more affordable on a regular basis now?  Well, at least the catalog releases are coming in at much more reasonable prices and/or come w/ nice coupons, etc.  And quite a few new/recent title releases also seem to get heavily discounted much sooner than a year ago -- IIRC, February last year was a pretty dead month for discounts and such on BDs.

Granted, there's no dot.com craze going on this time around, but otherwise, this is starting to look a bit like DVD during the post-dot.com-craze era...

Here's a link to the list of Borders stores that will be closing:

Articles about the bankruptcy filing indicate that they'll continue to accept gift cards as normal during the restructuring.

Thanks for the list, Malcolm.  Looks like the ones around me have been spared, thankfully.  I do prefer them to Barnes & Noble and actually do have a few gift cards to use up that I redeemed with some Discover points here recently.

Well, crap.  "My" Borders is one of the ones closing.  I do have a gift card to use still too.  frown.gif

Didn't make it out to BB this week.  Wonder if those BDs will still be ~$15 (or less?) next week.

The coupons from coupons.com seem to last about 4 weeks from the date you print them -- I even still have one for Dances w/ Wolves BD that's not expired yet although my local Target doesn't seem to actually carry it anymore (even though the website says others)...
