The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Thanks Mike!  FYI we are running a contest for one of this weeks releases: Beauty and the Briefcase on Blu-ray

For me this week you can't go wrong with Uncle Buck for under $10.  I've seen the trailer for Wild Target on multiple Fox BDs and it looks pretty funny, but I'll wait for Matts review before I do a blind buy.

Nothing for me this week.

Although some day I want to see Amarcord.  I was 14 in 1973.  The ads that ran in the newspaper--using the same logo in connection with the name as is used in the poster above--weighed heavily on this young adolescent's mind.  biggrin.gif

By the way, you guys were right about this headcold.  I'm now starting week two...and it's still giving me hell.  They make these things tough these days.

Wonder if Best Buy will actually stock those Classic Educational Shorts discs? The first 2 of those I had to mail-order since I never found them in any stores.

Nothing here, either.  If I was swimming in money, there are things I would pick up, but since the former isn't the case, neither is the latter.  smile.gif

Bambi BD is currently on pre-order for $24.99, Tangled BD $19.99 on BestBuy.com.  There's some deal when you buy two select Disney movies to save $10 on Bambi...but I think there's a coupon starting to float around for Bambi.

With all the great movies that aren't available on BR, I'm thrilled to see that Barb Wire is coming out.  No Fiddler on the Roof?  That's fine, Barb Wire will do.  tongue.gif

Oh well, I'll probably take the dive for A River Runs Through It and Thelma and Louise.

The River Wild is a great thriller, and I'm excited to see a Blu-ray release. Just another example of how Meryl Streep can play any part and make it completely believable.

Nothing for me this week either.

Thanks for the prices though! smile.gif

Just the two classic Doctor Who titles for me.  Thanks for the update.

Is it worth the upgrade from SD to Blu for "Uncle Buck"?  It is a guilty pleasure of mine and IIRC, the SD is AOR, unlike "Honeymoon In Vegas" where the SD was FF and the Blu is AOR.

For those interested, there is a $10 coupon available for You Again at youagain-themovie.com

It is good for the blu-ray combo pack version of the film and expires 2/13/11.

Not even much for me to rent this week!  I might check out the two versions of "I Spit..." at some point, but there's no hurry.

And Mike, I ended up on Cipro-something (prescription antibiotics) to knock that out of my system.  I'd try it.

Has anyone read a review for Uncle Buck on Blu-Ray? I like to read reviews before I buy Blu-Rays. Really want this on Blu-Ray. Thanks for the help.

Universal didn't send any of this weeks catalog titles out for review, so you will have to wait for Tuesday.  I went ahead and preorderd it .  Its one of my favs and for under $10 I'm willing to take the chance.

Mike Frezon is once again a trend setter.  He removed Ultimate Electronics from the WRU and now they have announced that they are closing all 46 stores and will be liquidating them.

Trend setter? More like HARBINGER OF DOOM!

Since UE took over the space where our old Circuit City was located, that lot is going to get a reputation as one of those place where a business can't succeed!

I hope Costco doesn't go under next!  eek.gif

Hey Mike, do me a favor -- add the New York Yankees to the WRU and then take 'em off.

amazon links seem to be out of order.

And now they work.

maybe it's my browser. Have been using Rockmelt.
When I click the links sometimes they work, if I click "open in new tab" it always works.

I haven't had the oportunity to actually watch it yet, but I can confirm that it is a BD50 and there is a sticker on the front claiming it has been remastered. Its interesting that they used a BD50 as it is 25.2Gig Sound is only DTS 2.0

At least they released the original Casablanca on Blu-ray before this Pamela Anderson remake. smiley_wink.gif

I will be upgrading my LD version of Barb Wire, just not at $15. Uncle Buck and Flipper made it to $10 this week.  Why can't Barb Wire and River Wild (hint, hint Amazon)?  I have to say I actually found the extra "unrated" footage at the beginning fairly boring after the first 45 seconds.  Come on, start the movie already!  I have a friend who worked on the movie and just rolled his eyes when I mentioned it was coming to Blu.

No back to watching season one of VIP which I just picked up for under $15....laugh.gif

Re: Barb Wire Blu-ray

Those Pamela Anderson Lee-lovers who want to see the "unrated sexy footage" won't get them on this Blu-ray. The movie is the R-rated version and has no extras on the disc. The DVD from Polygram Video has an additional 4:3 aspect ratio version (with the non-anamorphic 1.85:1 version), the unrated version containing "extra sexy footage (outtakes)," the theatrical trailer, a photo gallery and cast & crew filmographies. There is nothing specific for the movie on the BD-Live area either.

So if you only want an A/V upgrade and don't care about extras, you might want the Blu-ray. I don't know if the Blu-ray is suffering from the dreaded DNR (like on some other Universal catalog BDs), but the audio is pretty good for DTS-HD MA.

I would definitely want the rest of VIP on DVD. Maybe Shout! Factory can scrounge up the rights like they did for other great shows.

And as usual:  Excellent work, Mike!

Keith:

Thanks for that info!  And it's always a pleasure to see a post of yours anywhere on the forum.  Don't be a stranger!  biggrin.gif

Wonder why Universal didn't release the extra footage and/or features on the BD?

Mike:

You're welcome!  Lately, finding the time to browse the forums is far and few between for me.

Wasn't Polygram Video part of the Universal family?  If so, I also would ask why none of the extras are available on the BD.

Keith
