They join King Caspian (Ben Barnes, Dorian Gray) and a noble mouse named Reepicheep in a quest to rescue noble lords who had been lost fighting evil on another island. Considering Fox's recent titles, Im surprised there isn't an extended edition

We have representatives from Fox on this forum, right?

If so, can someone from TCFHE please explain how or why the aspect ratio is 1.78:1 for the new blu-ray release when it was a scope presentation in the theaters (2.35/2.40:1)?!?

So it was done with the director's blessing, which will satisfy some.  Personally, I still think it was a bad decision, and would like to have the option to purchase the version that Apted original filmed and released in theaters.  But I guess that's pretty unlikely at this point.

Because the director is a f#$%ing idiot, who actually thinks that somone watching a film can be "intimate" with it if it fills their TV screen.

Worst of all, how can it look intimate when many shots are simply opened up?

Question: Was Steven Soderbergh a f#$%ing idiot when he had the DVD of The Good German released as 1.33:1 despite the theatrical exhibition being 1.78:1?

Not that it makes any difference to your argument, but the theatrical aspect ratio of The Good German was 1.66:1

Wasn't that because many theaters (if not all) aren't able to project a 1.33:1 movie any more? That's not the case with 1.85:1 If a director wants an aspect ratio, then compose for that ratio and release it in theaters that way. Don't alter it for home video.
