Naked City, What was the original pricing?

I remember reading about "Naked City" on the forum here but being too late to the party I missed it (I really only started collecting TV on DVD in 2008 and it was already OOP by then). Recently, I stumbled across a new Set 3 in the Amazon market place for under $20 so I decided to try it out. It was excellent. So I decided to get more (used Set 1 and new Set 2 for around $30 each).

These are higher prices then I would normally go for, but I decided to make an exception based on the quality of the show. That being said, I am curious as to how much these generally went for when originally released?

I don't know what the original price was, That was a great price they are now selling for almost $100 new and $45 used (set 1)

Sweet.  Especially since I picked up two of the DVDs for (I think) $10 each when new, and neglected to follow through on the rest.

Brilliant move.  Just brilliant.

I just picked up three of the single disk sets new for an average of $15 a piece from the market place. The other three single disks are a bit more so I may have to get them used for around the same price. I'm waiting to see how "used" the set 1 I am getting off eBay for $30 is before continuing down the used route. Set 1 is definitely the most expensive now that it is OOP.

This really is an excellent show so even though I am currently averaging the original list price and may have to go a bit higher to finish it out, it is worth it.

Were the individually released titles not included in the sets?  I guess I never did my homework on that.

No, the individual disc releases were never part of the sets.    That's how the total episode total could be maximized to 60 overall.   (24 in individual releases, 36 in sets).

What's the likelihood of the Image individual discs and boxsets of Naked City being re-released? I'm a bit late into being interested in the series.

I don't know the answer to that. I imagine that Image's rights ran out and no one else picked it up. However, with it showing on RTV that might pickup the interest for someone else to give it a go.

I know I picked them all up after they went OOP, and they weren't really all that badly priced if you wait and regularly monitor the Amazon marketplace or ebay. I noticed right now that 3 of the 4 single disks releases can be had for no more then $10 each shipped. I think there is a time period after something goes OOPs that they are really expensive, but after a while they seem to come down as the demand doesn't meet the high pricing. i think i paid as high as $30 for the final 3 disk set I was looking for, but that was the highest I went.

It's only up on either servicer if the local affiliate is airing it on the main channel, and not the sub-channel

RTV's print quality varies - a lot of "noise" & "washyness" on many. - it seems that Sony May has supplied them with prints that were DIGITAL CONVERTED from the set of PAL masters made for Australia 15 odd years ago. There are episodes that are fine on DVD but look crummy on RTV!

I'd settle for one more DVD release with these four 1st season episodes....

(1) The Pedigree Sheet
(2) The Deadly Guinea Pig
(3) Bullets Cost Too Much
(4) Killer With A Kiss

I had been thinking the episodes on these single disc releases of Naked City were in the boxsets.

With some older TV shows on DVD, single disc releases contain episodes already released in single discs or in boxsets. Have got the Criterion disc of The Naked City, and so was interested in getting some of the TV series on DVD. The prices for the single disc releases are not too bad at the moment.
