The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Thanks Mike!  The Sherman Brothers, Waking Sleeping Beauty (DVDs) and Knight and Day, and Fantasia (BDs) are films I would love to have, but between buying a new TV and Black Friday I'll have to shake the piggy bank and see if anythign actually comes out....

Adam:

The Boys: The Sherman Brothers Story is already on its way to me from Amazon.

Richard & Robert Sherman are probably the closest things I have to heroes in the entertainment world.  I a huge fan of Disney music (film and theme parks mostly).  The Shermans, obviously, are a huge part of that world.  One of my joys is a framed copy of the sheet music to It's a Small World signed by Richard Sherman!

In fact, I found my way to the HTF via a recommendation made to me at Magical Music of the Mouse--the only other internet forum of which I've ever been a member.  I was advised to check out a discussion here on a thread involving a discussion on a soundtrack to a Disney film.

I don't pre-order many titles on a week-to-week basis...but this is one title I knew I had to have ASAP.  biggrin.gif

Some of those other Disney DVDs released this week:  Waking Sleeping Beauty and Walt & El Grupo look mighty interesting, too.  If you've never seen Frank & Ollie that's a must-have documentary for anyone interested in the history of Disney animation.

My family knows I'm a Sherman Brothers nut.  They couldn't believe it when I told them someone actually made a movie about their career!  laugh.gif

Leo is working on a copy of it now.  Seeing the YouTube clip was really intriguing...

Very interested story about how you came to HTF too thumbsup.gif

I will have the review of Have Gun Will Travel up later today.

I'll be picking up the Fantasia Blu-ray this week. The best price that I saw is Toys R Us with $26.99 so with the Disney manufacturer's coupon, it'll be $17.

Thanks for the prices! smile.gif

damn was really hoping for a fantasia ironpack

A few folks got the matrix collection (blu) for $26 at Ultimate Electronics, but none were left when I got there at 11am today (Sunday). They had the batman box for the same but I already have the ones I like.

Fantasia for sure with the Disney coupon.  What else?  I don't know if I can financially support anything else with Christmas coming and just getting back from Detroit for Thanksgiving.

I noticed the Target ad that I've seen shows the "Fantasia" Blu set at $29.99. Do we know for sure it's $27.99 in-store? Does anybody know for sure what price Wal-Mart will have the "Fantasia" Blu set for? Website says $28.99 but in-store can vary of course. Thanks!

^ Maybe it varies by region because it shows as $27.99 in the ad in the Philadelphia area.

Fantasia and the $10 off coupon at Target for me.

I was wondering if anyone noticed that the coupon that Disney Movie Rewards offers for $10 off The Sorcerer's Apprentice is for the red  box with the 3 disc combo pack; Blu-Ray,DVD, and Digital Download.  Not the blue box 2 disc combo pack. Will the stores hold you to the offer as shown on the coupon? Best Buy's ad shows the red box 3 disc  and it says that you can save $10 when you buy both Sorcerer and Fantasia Blu-Ray combo packs.  Could we also use the two $10 off coupons with the other store offer of $10 off?  This would bring it to almost $27.00 for both. That would be great.

Fantasia $10 Coupon: http://www.disneymovierewards.go.com/promotions/special-offers/fantasia-coupon

Sorcerer's Apprentice $10 Coupon: http://www.disneymovierewards.go.com/promotions/special-offers/sorcererlptw-coupon

The Sorcerer's App coupon specifically says the three disc combo pack

The Sorcerer's Apprentice is supposed to only be for the 3 disc, but there are always people who will use it for the other sets not that it's the correct thing to do since it's

questionable whether the stores get paid -- some stores are much more particular about being exact.

Whether you can use both coupons plus get the combination purchase -- at Target I'd almost bet on it going by past experience.   At Best Buy, it's seems to always turn

into a drama as some stores will allow it and other stores will decline.   If you start trying to pricematch then things get much trickier and many stores will balk.

Thanks for the links to those coupons, Adam!  thumbsup.gif

And...links to the HTF reviews for The Boys: The Sherman Brothers Story and Have Gun Will Travel: S5 V1 have been added to the OP.

I gather one cannot use the Disney $10 coupon to purchase the Fantasia blu-ray from Amazon? I guess it's not feasible to enter a coupon code for it. I see above Toys R Us has the best in store price when combined with the Disney coupon..

Most people haven't gotten Amazon to take the coupon.

TRU seems to be the best price if you just want Fantasia unless you happen to be in Nebraska Furniture Mart territory.

Thanks David. Fortunately there is a TRU about 2 miles away!

I live in the Nebraska Furniture Mart territory, and with price matching their ad ($16.79 for the blu-rays) at Walmart, plus the $10 off coupons, I got both "Fantasia/Fantasia 2000" and "The Socerer's Apprentice" for $7.97 each, or $15.94 total.  I wasn't going to get "The Socerer's Apprentice", but for less than $8, why not.

Do you feel the laser beams burrowing deep into brain.    I swear I'm sending daggers your way though the computer screen for posting such thing.   As much as I used to dislike the people who kept posting Fry's deals 2-3 years ago (not only posting, but laughing that evil soul cracking laugh -- you thought I couldn't hear you, but I could you know),  I think I'm starting to despise you NFM and Ultimate Electronics people more than that every single day.

HATE --HATE-- HATE you with giant purple skinned Tyranasaurus chasing an uncooperative dinner kind of hatred.

There now I feel better.

No I don't.    HAAAA-T-EEEE-E.   The meds were supposed to have worked by now.

Couldn't get to the store today & just called Target & they are out of Fantasia blu ray combo packs.   I called because I'd read on several sites of people having the same problem.   I guess none of them got a large quantity in.  Now I'll have to hit Best Buy tomorrow & pm Fantasia (from Target) down to $27.99 & get it & Sorcerer's Apprentice (hoping to get the $10 reduction + use both Disney $10 coupons).    I know a lot of people have trouble with Best Buy & Disney coupons but (knock on wood) so far they've let me use them.

I went to Target tonight.  They had several copies of the Fantasia blu-ray set.

Oh.  And I bought the Fantasia set ($27.99) AND the 2-disc Sorcerer's Apprentice ($24.99) (a blind buy).

Subtotal was $52.98.  I got the $10 off from Target for buying them both ($42.98).  I also used the $10 coupon on Fantasia ($32.98).  AND...the clerk scanned--and encountered no resistance from his register--the $10 coupon for The Sorcerer's Apprentice ($22.98 final total for the two titles).  thumbsup.gif

$11.49 per title.  Just crazy.  A very GOOD kind of crazy, mind you.  But definitely crazy.

I called Target again & they said they have another truck coming in tonight & it should be unpacked before they open.   He's hoping they'll have more Fantasia blu ray combo packs.  I plan on trying the 2 disc Sorcerer's Apprentice too (they've been working for everybody as long as the cashier doesn't read it too closely).

4 Targets last night and this morning, no Fantasia.  VERY frustrated.

I got Fantasia only at Toys R Us. And they took the Disney $10 off coupon.

Went to Target at 8am.   They did get a new shipment in.  In the shipment they got a grand total of ONE Fantasia blu ray.  OH, I thought hot damn, I got it at least.  Only problem was that they had ZERO copies of Sorcerer's Apprentice (2 & 3 disc).   At this point I had my first stroke.   I took the copy to the office where I was told that the next truck would be on Friday & they looked up SA.  They had TWO copies coming in.   I asked them to hold the Fantasia for me until Friday.  Sorry, Target policy says we can't hold an item for more than 24 hours.  BUT I said the copy of Fantasia will be gone when you finally get those big two copies of SA in.   She wouldn't budge.   So I said screw 'em & I went to Best Buy & shockingly I got them to take both coupons (& I got the 2 disc SA).   Total was $23.98 + tax.

THAT'S sticking to your guns, Bill.  Good job!

It's such a great deal, I'm surprised there's not more buzz about it.

I don't even hold out any great hopes for The Sorcerer's Apprentice...but now I've been reading some good things about it, actually.

=================

On another subject, it's pretty interesting that they released a 2-disc Sorcerer's Apprentice along with the 3-disc (+ digital copy).  And for $5 less.  I'm not sure that's a really good thing...or a really bad thing.  tongue.gif

I would probably go for the Disney combo deal if I didn't already spend substantial $$$ on BDs, etc. this past week-plus (w/ likely more to come). tongue.gif  But the Sorcerer's Apprentice just doesn't seem worthwhile enough (and my kids haven't been asking for it either) -- maybe I'll give it a rent.  Also, I'm not that keen on spending all that much to upgrade the Fantasia set either -- certainly not about to spend ~$18+tax for it.

Unfortunately, I'll probably have to pick up the Eclipse BD (as a present for my daughter), so that'll probably be it from this week's roundup...
