Patrick:

Awesome list!  Thanks!  thumbsup.gif

Excellent work, Patrick. The problem is, most of us have already bought the titles we want at much higher prices. Hopefully Amazon price matches, because at $5 I'd be willing to upgrade Batman Begins to BD, and at $10 I'd be willing to pick up Get Him to the Greek.

Some of these titles are also repeats from last year. I got both Batman Begins and TDK blu-rays at last year's Walmart BF sale. I also recall seeing the Harry Potter films.

Seems like maybe Amazon's already quietly started there BF sale via their Gold Box Lightning Deals section.  Just noticed they had a Yamaha RX-V1065 receiver going for a mere ~$280 this morning -- that certainly seems like a BF-type price to me given the model number unless Yamaha has seriously downgraded/priced their receivers of late...

Thanks for the info on Amazon Adam.

Hope you'll let us know if the Mad men discs end up on sale @ amazon.  I would LOVE to take advantage of that deal.  If I was an FB guy, I would definitely be one of the 50k.  Maybe I'll have to alert my family members to take part!  biggrin.gif

Does Wal-Mart offer their Black Friday deals on their website? I'd love to get Community for $12, and I could go to a store at midnight, but I'm hesitant.

In the past they had seperate web deals, not sure what they will do this year. Last year I found that Amazon price matched a lot of sales.

Just for the record, I had two of my family members on Facebook friend Amazon, but they reported that amazon, as of mid-day today, only had about 10,300 new friends.  frown.gif

I want my cheap HD Mad Men!  tongue.gif

Amazon says that they didn't get the 50,000 people. But they are still going to sell the sets for $9.99 each anyway.

Having never seen the show, and for that price, I have to by those sets on Friday.

Same!

I'm all over it as soon as the price changes, but right now at their site no change yet.

Get Seasons 2 and 3 also.  I haven't ever seen them below $30.  Worst case you don't like them and sell them for more than you paid for them.  Weeds are $9.99 a season on BD too.

Yeah, definitely get all 3 seasons of the Mad Men BDs.  Weeds started out pretty good too, but it's been kinda downhill since the first couple seasons, so I've only been renting that w/ no real urge to buy it even at this price...

Is Mad Men worth it?  Good show?

Ron, Ive only seen the pilot episode.  It was good, a very diffrent show. Its kind of like a darker version of the movie down with love. For that price, just order it ,like everyone else.smile.gif Cant wait for the blus to arrive in a couple weeks, lol.

Ron:  100% worth it.  One of the best shows on TV.

I don't know if this helps, Ron,,,but, from Wikipedia:

Critical reception

Mad Men has received highly positive critical response since its premiere."[46] Viewership for the premiere at 10 p.m. on July 19, 2007, was higher than any other AMC original series to date.[47] A New York Times reviewer called the series groundbreaking for "luxuriating in the not-so-distant past."[37] The San Francisco Chronicle called Mad Men "stylized, visually arresting [...] an adult drama of introspection and the inconvenience of modernity in a man's world".[13] A Chicago Sun-Times reviewer described the series as an "unsentimental portrayal of complicated 'whole people' who act with the more decent 1960 manners America has lost, while also playing grab-ass and crassly defaming subordinates."[48] The reaction at Entertainment Weekly was similar, noting how in the period in which Mad Men takes place, "play is part of work, sexual banter isn't yet harassment, and America is free of self-doubt, guilt, and countercultural confusion."[49] The Los Angeles Times said that the show had found "a strange and lovely space between nostalgia and political correctness".[50] The show also received critical praise for its historical accuracy – mainly its depictions of gender and racial bias, sexual dynamics in the workplace, and the high prevalence of smoking and drinking.[7][14][50][51]

......

The American Film Institute selected it as one of the 10 best television series of 2007,[58] 2008[59] and 2009,[60] and it was named the best television show of that year by the Television Critics Association[61] and several national publications, including the Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, TIME Magazine, and TV Guide.[62]

.......

Mad Men was the most-nominated drama series and the third most-nominated series overall at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2008, receiving 16 nominations total – behind the NBC comedy 30 Rock and the HBO miniseries John Adams, with 17 and 23 nominations, respectively.[72] Alongside the concurrently nominated FX drama Damages, it became one of the first basic cable series ever to be nominated for the award for Outstanding Drama Series,[73] an award that it subsequently won. I try to avoid buying any seasonal TV series on disc, and Mad Men is one of just a few I do buy -- and during release week no less -- so yeah, I certainly think it's great. biggrin.gif

And for just $10 each, you really canNOT miss w/ this one.

Added about a dozen of the under $15 Blu-Rays on Amazon into my cart, and then slowly pared it down to three titles: At the $10 price point, it was worth double-dipping on Prisoner of Azkaban. I'd been waiting to see Get Him to the Greek at $10 or under, so that made the cut too. And while Mad Men has never interested me from the promos, I figured it was worth trying at $10 for the entire first season on Blu. I figure I spent more than that to see Saw 3D in theatres, and Saw 3D was completely awful.
