Wow, this looks pretty intense! I might have to see this one!

Kick-Ass, another alien invasion film...Love it, looks fantastic.

I have to admit alien invasion flicks are getting overdone, but the moment I see one of these trailers, I feel like a damn hypocrite. I'm heading off tomorrow to see SKYLINE.

Yep I think I'll pass on Skyline and wait for Battle: Los Angeles.

I've read a bunch of reviews and it seems they've done a Cloverfield on Skyline, with the whole film set in one building? Say it isn't so. Looking forward to member reviews.

CLOVERFIELD. Excellent concept, shitty execution. I mean, to do the whole flick through the eyes of a camcorder? I don't think so. Is that what this movie is supposed to be? Shit, maybe, I'll end up skipping this after all. THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT is about the only movie where this hand-held-camera technique worked for me.

I hated Blair, didn't work for me, at all. So I'll never bother wasting my time with Cloverfield. But this, this looks much better then either of those. Of course, more trailers will tell but color me impressed so far.

Thank God, I didn't pay to see CLOVERFIELD, I saw it on the FX channel a few months ago, and, if they had just filmed the flick like an actual movie I would have liked it. THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT works for me, and it's the only one that does. Go figure. Yes, I agree, the trailer has me insanely impressed, but I'll have to hear more about this, before I commit to a ticket buy.

Fangoria has a review up of SKYLINE and, basically, they're saying it's a been-there-done-that flick. I choose to ignore that review; this is one of those flicks I just need to see myself. If anything for the sheer visual effects eye candy.

UPDATE: Found some images of the alien marauders on DREAD CENTRAL. Well, at least, they appear to be humanoid. I wonder how far that description extends after all the armor is removed. Now that I look at it, maybe, that's not armor at all.

Yeah, the reviews of Skyline are horrible, 11% on RT last I check, still won't keep me away, just wow me with special effects and cool creatures and I'll walk out smiling. Same thing I expect from this film as well.

Ditto. As long as nothing insanely ridiculous happens, I expect to enjoy this flick.

Here's what I've read about the film...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Cheesy dialogue, poor plot, and the fact it takes place on, in and around one building. But, I've read the effects are top-notch.

Are you talking about Skyline or Battle:LA here?

Yes, talking Skyline. Sorry to derail the thread.

The directors of Skyline, Colin and Greg Strause, are visual effects designers on Battle: Los Angeles.

They also worked on Avatar and 2012.

Skyline wasn't worth seeing (I know, I saw it).  I'm hoping B:LA will.

Trailer looks cool as hell and I've really got high hopes for this flick. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

My biggest fear is this being another Skyline. The perfect example of a trailer lying about the actual film.

Finally, some pics of the aliens, albiet behind-the-scene pics, but at least it's better than nothing at all. Have a look and decide. Weird, man.

SHOCK TILL YOU DROP: The latest issue of "Famous Monsters" magazine (#254) provides their readers with a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Battle: Los Angeles, opening March 11. Within this issues pages: An early look at the invading aliens that take on stars Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez. These guys are described as "alien foot soldiers" and brought to life by Spectral Motion. Very "bio-mechanical," from the looks of it.

Usually I'll watch a trailer once or twice and that's it.  But, for some reason I like watching this one.  I think I've seen it at least 6 times so far and it doesn't get old.  Either it's a very well put together trailer that's covering up the bad spots well or the source material may actually be "a very good movie".

This does look fantastic and it's one I will catch the first weekend it hits theaters.

I'm starting to now see TV commercials for it and each time I get a little more excited and I just can't.  I must keep my excitement in check because this could be a real let down.  But damn, I sure hope it isn't. Like Ron-P said above, I really hope this isn't another Skyline.

An early, early review has some not so nice things to say about it.  But I'm not sure if I can trust the review.  I think I'll wait for a few more to come in.  I suspect this will be a 50/50 movie where half will hate it and half will love it.

Fangoria is billing this as the final poster. Looks SO cool. Please, if there is a God in Heaven, make this movie NOT suck.

I loved Cloverfield. Well done.

And yeah, that first teaser trailer for Battle-LA does look WAY cool.

It looks very interesting it will be good to hear some reviews. I think it could be good or it could just be ID4 all over again. :)

Fingers crossed. I hope this one turns out well. The trailer delivers hopefully the film will too.

I found this related bit of info interesting... it might explain how the disappointing Skyline produced some spectacular visuals -

Quote:
Sony Pictures Entertainment is contemplating legal action against Greg and Colin Strause, the directors of Skyline and the owners of Hydraulx Filmz – a visual effects company that contributed to Battle: Los Angeles.

According to Deadline, Sony feels that the Strause brothers should have given them a heads up about their plans to make Skyline before accepting the FX gig on Battle: Los Angeles, which gave them access to the film’s script, storyboards, and animatics.

More to the point, Sony is wondering if Battle: Los Angeles served as inspiration for the brothers to make Skyline and if they used the studio’s resources to polish up the effects on their modestly-budgeted thriller.

In Skyline,  ”strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame, where an extraterrestrial force proceeds to swallow the entire human population off the face of the earth.” The story is told from the point of view of  four friends who have just returned from a night of partying and the majority of it was shot in Greg Strause’s home.

At the Skyline Comic-Con panel, the brothers cited Paranormal Activity as the main inspiration for their approach to the film.  The independent production gave them the freedom to cast lesser-known actors and kept them free from studio interference.
