Deleting Private Messages

Thread Starter

I have several messages in my TRASH that I don't know how to delete. When I delete them from the SENT or IN BOX files I naturally assumed they were gone for good, but then I happened to check the TRASH file and found them all there, but no where is there a button to delete them from the TRASH permanently.

Can some one help?

It seems to me that one should be able to "dispose of" their trash.

I guess it's important to you to actually delete the PMs you've received.  IIRC, the space we are given for PMs is fairly large.

Let's see what we can find out.

I hate to admit, but, I'm a neat freak, to an extent, and, yesm that does translate to my emial and forum accounts. If something is in the TRASH, I generally like to empty it, rather than let it build up, even if there's only two or three pieces of Trash in it.

I just found it odd that there's no DELETE button for the TRASH . . .

I'll need to verify, but I think the last 20 messages deleted are automatically kept in trash "just in case".  Deleting the 21st message will permanently delete the oldest message in trash so you don't go above 20 messages.

I'm cool with that.

Upon investigating further I found that there is a bug where the 21st message is not removing the oldest.  I know its annoying, but its a low priority for the moment as we get a few other things tweaked.

Ignore my last answer and sort of go back to my answer in post 4.  Here is the real deal.  Deleted messages are put into trash.  At the end of the day everyone's trash is emptied except for the last 20 messages to be deleted.  So if you do major PM housekeeping (like I need to do) and delete 100 messages, they will all be in trash.  Later that night the oldest 80 will be removed from trash and permanently deleted.

Understood. Thanks for that clarification, Adam.
