URL shorteners from new members?

Maybe put a minimum post count for new users to be able to use bit.ly and goo.gl etc?

I saw this thread and was tempted to click it, then saw the user's post count.  I doubt it's a problem but I just had a twinge of doubt.

Maybe ban them altogether? Work of the devil, I tell ya! smile.gif

I certainly don't understand them: how is it easier to copy a URL, pass it through the bite.me service, and then paste the shortened version somewhere...than to just copy and paste?

But to your question: that's an active Amazon promo. I learned about it from some other source and used it. I have no idea why they use a bit.ly link instead of the actual amazon link. Must have gotten from a Twitter post.

I agree might be best to ban em all, and I use em a lot on twitter so i'll be put out, but it might be for the best
