TCM VAULT COLLECTION (UNIVERSAL): Claudette Colbert & Fred MacMurray: The Romantic Comedy... - Page 2

Thanks for the update.  I suppose this is o.k., if the delay means getting it done correctly, instead of

repeating 'The Tarnished Angels' snafu.

Here's what The Digital Bits reported today:

Universal and TCM will release the classic Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray films The Gilded Lily (1935), The Bride Comes Home (1935) and Family Honeymoon (1949) on DVD starting on 12/10 as part of their MOD TCM Vault Collection.

MOD?  I thought these were going to be pressed, like the Sirk set.

MOD? Hmmm..........I also thought the release date was 12/3 - was it changed again?

According to the Movies Unlimited website it is now expected on December 15!

Can you confirm these are pressed or MOD? That's the difference between buying and not for me.

Boxsets are always pressed.  Not sure about stand-alone releases.

It has been a while since I watched them but didn't the TCM Vault Collection: The Lost and Found RKO Collection box set consist of all MODs?

Yes they did, but so far the Universal box collections have all been pressed, but it has been reported that the individual titles are DVD-R.  I have no first hand knowledge for I have recieved the box sets and they are pressed.

I've read accounts of some of the individual horror titles coming as MODs so I would assume the same holds true for the others.

Love Claudette Colbert and will surely be buying this set; though when I first heard of the release I was a little sad it wasnt a Colbert with Fredric March set. Would have liked to see Manslaughter (1930), Honor Among Lovers (1931) and Tonight is Ours (1933) in a set.

Finally got around to ordering this.  Threw in the Ma and Pa Kettle disc to get the free shipping.  That also catches me up on all the exclusives I wanted.

Thanks for the great idea. I decided to order the same discs. Doesn't catch me up on the exclusives I want, though.

Just got an email telling me my Ma & Pa Kettle disc shipped but the Colbert set isn't due to ship until the 15th.  Just FYI.

Just got the email saying the Claudette Colbert & Fred MacMurray set has shipped, so looks like they'll be arriving in time for Christmas.  smile.gif

Scott, when you receive your set, will you please let us know whether these are in fact pressed discs?

Thank you.

My two cents are that these are all but guaranteed to be pressed.  I've got these being shipped as well, and I bought every TCM/Universal title to date from the TCM website and they have all been pressed so far, including the single release Remember the Night from last year

Remember the Night is no longer pressed.  I just received a copy today and it is most definitely a DVD-R.  The point being here is that it would appear they are only pressing the initial batch, so buyer beware if you plan on waiting around.

My copy of the Colbert/MacMurray Collection arrived today.  They are pressed discs with Robert Osborne introductions.  The Gilded Lily looks very nice!

I wonder how many units they are doing pressed before switching over to DVD-R - 500? 1000? 1500?

Did you buy from TCM.com?  Then it does seem there is an initial pressed batch that is released, with MOD discs being released when that runs out...Thanks for pointing that out.

Yes, I bought from TCM directly.

Received the set in the mail, and can confirm its pressed.

That is disappointing to hear! I just ordered Remember the Night, does the DVD-R still have the special features?

Yes it still has the features.  Looks to be identical to the original issue, just had that telltale blueish tint.  Popped it into Nero Infotool and sure enough, came back as a DVD-R.
