Finally, some real classic news! On real dvds! Perhaps this is a sign that the numbers from the colbert box and the flynn box reached or exceeded expectations? Warners, are you listening? Who am I kidding, they don't care...

"On real dvds!" And what are DVDrs? Pretend DVDs? I assume you meant to say pressed DVDs. "Who am I kidding, they don't care..." Is there any reason why they should?

But not Mitchell Leisen's PRACTICALLY YOURS?  Was it destroyed in the Universal fire?  It's very rare.

Maybe Universal will be doing a Leisen Backlot set? *fingers crossed*

Ah, so soon, an opportunity for those of us who bought the Sirk collection to put our 20%

discount to use!

I couldn't find this on the tcm shop . I will use my Sirk discount when it does come up . More Colbert is always welcome .

Movies Unlimited has it up for Pre-Order.

Welcome news, indeed!  It's hard to go wrong with Colbert.

I think the Sirk discount is only good at tcm shop .

I used the Sirk discount to purchase the Bing Crosby Collection at Movies Unlimited's own site.

My thoughts exactly...

Any reason why Pratically Yours and No Time for Love are not included?

NO TIME FOR LOVE was included in the Claudette Colbert Collection....as was MAID OF SALEM and the umpteenth repackaging of THE EGG AND I.

Don't be so thin skinned. Your precious dvdrs will last a long time, first as a lazily-and-hastily released cherished memory, and then down the road as a great cup coaster... I keep spending my money on dvd releases, so that's how i show i care. You care about what you want, as its a free country.

LOL ... and I"M think skinned? Ah yes, the paranoia of all DVDrs will self destruct. No evidence to support this but it doesn't stop the urban legend but I have one particular homemade DVDr that I play constantly and show friends at every opportunity. It's five years old now and if you can give me a "use by" date, it would be most appreciated.

"its a free country"

I think you mean it's, not its, but we at least we can agree on something. Cheers!

So far I've seen everything from one to ten years.  The problem has been that you just never know for any given disc.  Hope that helps.

Does anyone else think that, with the immense amount of unrelease material Universal owns, that TCM releasing these relatively obscure comedies and stuff like Taza, Son of Cochise is rather odd?  I am sure these films make someone happy, and Universal may be holding out on some titles it plans to release itself (like Alan Ladd hopefully), but can't TCM do better.  There are still some unreleased W.C. Fields films (Tillie and Gus, Follow the Boys), that I doubt Universal will ever release.  What about them?

"Relatively obscure" must be taken as a subjective viewpoint.  Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray were big time stars in the 30'/40's. Didn't Ms. Colbert receive an Academy Award

nomination for Best Actress for Gilded Lily ?

Sorry checking AA website.....Ms Colbert was nominated for Private Worlds in 1935 not Gilded Lily.  Private Worlds has never been released on DVD.  HINT HINT TCM !!!

Douglas Sirk has gotten a larger reputation over the years, so those films aren't as obscure as some others would be.

I'm not concerned though since the Universal/TCM started making this monthly.  Expect another set for December/January at this rate  (Yes, I hope to see Ladd, Cooper, Fields and others in such future sets)

I would not mind a few Henry Aldrich films.

I wish they would release more of their musicals but I am not complaining, more Claudette Colbert on pressed DVD is a very, very, good thing.

Yes, more Claudette Colbert is always welcome.  "The Gilded Lily" was a huge hit for her and made a star of Fred MacMurray.

The Universal title I would most like to own is 'Bright Victory'.

Have any of the orders for this set begun to ship?

Looks like it was delayed until December 3.
