Home Theater Forum App?

Hey guys,

I thought I'd ask if any thought has been made to create an App for iPhones and iPads? I don't think I've seen any mention of one here on he forum.

I just noticed on another forum that I rarely go to has an App. I understand that there is some problems between the 2 forums some time ago and I don't mean to bring up anything negative about that. I don't really know what went on and I don't need to know. My loyalties are here as it's the place I prefer to go.

So with that said, I tried that app and it works pretty well. Not perfect and I had to guess at how some functions worked, but overall, it works. Threads are easy to read on an iPhone screen.

Of course I realize you guys are probably thinking that not everyone has an iPhone or iPad and that the Android devices are getting wide distribution too. Just thought I'd ask.

Been wondering about this as well, or Tapatalk compatability....

It actually seems like everyone has an iSomething or "robot" in their pocket, or bag these days.  We are taking a slightly different tact.  Rather than come out with an app for iPhone/Pad, Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and whatever the next greatest thing is we are working on making the site more mobile friendly so it plays nice with all mobile platforms until our "universal" mobile platform is ready.  The next part of this is a "manual" editor that will be the default for mobile devices (and available for non-mobile devices too).  Look for that in the next 3-4 weeks.

Sounds interesting Adam and makes sense to be neutral so any device can play too.

It is interesting to see sites that I go to with my iPad that has a pop-up now that says, "We have a free iPad app for our site!". So it looks like the iPad is making a huge impact. Though I think you can't go wrong trying to be neutral.

I tend to prefer mobile-optimized websites, so I don't have to manage a multitude of apps for every website I go to. The two exceptions for me are Facebook and Twitter, where the apps are so well done and used so often, that they're worth having.

But with other websites I enjoy, like ArsTechnica or Engadget or any WordPress blog, the mobile versions work nicely.

I agree, but Huddler has said this isn't a priority in the past and their reliance on 3rd party APIs and other tools doesn't give me much confidence they can pull it off as cleanly as some of the best websites do, but I look forward to seeing what they come up with cause it honestly sucks to do more than skim HTF on my iPad and iPhone.

You know, I don't find accessing and posting threads on the HTF that hard on the iPad since the screen is big enough. However, I tried to read and post on the HTF once on the iPhone and it wasn't a good experience for me.
