The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

This week might be the first time I buy DVDs in a long time.  I might bite on one of the following: Pee Wee, Bionic Woman or the Lemon Drop Kid, or I might just take the week off and rest up for the rest of Q4 smiley_wink.gif

Thanks Mike and Pat for the RU this week!

Thanks for the Roundup.   Big week for me.   Both Harry Potter Ultimates at Target w/moviecash, Predators at Best Buy with the text message reduction, & Oceans/Crimson Wing probably @ Toys R Us using preorders for Toy Story 3 & a $6 coupon from their magical savings coupon book.  Glad all 3 stores are within a block of each other.   Too bad these are the first Disney blu ray combo packs without a $10 coupon.

I'll be getting the Psycho and Apocalypse Now Blu-rays.

In terms of dollars, next week is the biggest week of the year (and maybe even the biggest week in a couple years) for me so I may see if I can get someone to pick up Apocalypse Now for my upcoming birthday to save a few bucks this week.

Thanks for the prices, guys!

I was hoping Netflix would have The Psycho Legacy for rent.  I've already got multiple dips on the movie...

Heads-up: Fox Connect has the Predators BD for 17.99 with free UPS ground shipping if you sign up for their e-newsletter. Not too shabby. Coupon good for 10 percent off plus free shipping. Regular sale price is 19.99

Just a note: Best Buy was selling HTTYD on Blu for $22.99 last week, not $26.99.

Also, I noticed a few semi-recent semi-catalog Blu titles marked down to $13 at Target last week, including Taken and Ninja Assassin.  The latter kinda half-tempted me.  They appear to be permanent markdowns, not sale prices.

Hitchcock on Blu-ray for me ( BTW, the review link isn't working for me). Trying to decide on How To Train Your Dragon Thanks for the round-up.

Aye.  I was planning to order the Psycho BD from B&N as well, hoping that price would stay the same on release day (tomorrow) so I could apply a coupon on top,  but now, the news that the US version is missing a significant featurette (of the Lamb...) is making me reconsider going that route.  I'm willing to spend a bit more for the extra (but not a lot more).

Hey, it's Dave, the ORIGINAL "weekly round-up" guy here! I'm pretty sure Mike thinks I don't ever swing by here any more, but I do.  I usually don't have much to say, because I simply don't buy as much as I used to (down economy and all). But a quick word, which I just mentioned in the Bionic thread at the TV-DVD section here at HTF, and it's appropriate here as well.

Mike's showing $27.99 for The Bionic Woman - Season 1 at Amazon and Best Buy; I actually was seeing $26.99 when I woke up this morning.  I was planning all along to go the "instant gratification" route on this particular title, assuming prices were close to each other.  Since they are, either way, I was at my local Best Buy when they opened their doors this morning.  Sale price shelf talkers weren't put out yet in the New Releases sections for the other 2 streeting-today items I was buying: Rocky Horror Blu, and the Glee "Rocky Horror" CD.  I knew those were on sale because they're in the weekly flyer.  I "knew" TBW was on sale because their website actually says "on sale" when you look it up.

Was in a hurry to get home (got TSoD news to post, after all) so I didn't check the prices as they rung up at the register, but checked my receipt at home and found that TBW rang up for $34.99 instead of the expected $26.99!!

Called the store, spoke to "Sam" (who said he was the actual store manager), and he said they yes, it's NOT on sale in-store.  I can come back and ask them to price-match the website, though, and they'll refund the difference.

If you pick your TBW-S1 set up at Best Buy in-store, be certain to ask for that price-match with BestBuy.com up front, so you don't have to go through all of this mess that I did.  And don't try to find that title in-store at Walmart or Target; both chains decided to carry it as online orders only (I'm told Universal was LIVID about that decision!). Hope this helps everyone.

Hey, Dave!

It's always nice to hear from "the man" and know that you are still checking in...and still supplying useful info!

Best Buy still runs different pricing each week on certain titles as posted on bb.com, the Sunday flyer and the store shelves.  People need to be really cautious about getting their best deal at BB.

Maybe when you meet up with "Sam" you can talk to him about getting me on the list for those really awesome 10% "Preferred Customer" coupons.      That subject came up in passing here the other day.  Can you believe that thread was more than eight years ago!

Absolutely.  I'm told chicks really dig that...

My Bionic Woman Season One purchase went smoothly. I went to Best Buy with the printout from Barnes and Noble's $22.79 online sale price from last night/early this morning (it has since gone up a little to $23.99) and got a price match. FYI, I went to Target after that and they had 2-3 copies priced at $29.99 each.

The BB website usually has the better pricing over the in-store BDs if there is any price difference (and probably for DVDs as well, not sure since I don't buy DVDs) - I always check the website pricing first (see the next paragraph), then go to BB and grab the BDs I want. Like Dave stated above in post #17, if the movies are priced cheaper on their website, I just take them to the Customer Service desk, and they will price-match their website price. A good example: Just yesterday on the BB website, I found Spaceballs and both Fantastic 4 movies on BD, for $9.99 each, but on the shelf in the store they were all marked at regular prices - $19.99, $19.99, and $29.99 repectively - so I would have ended up paying $70 if I had just taken them up to the register.  No problem getting them to price-match all the movies for $9.99 each, so I got them for only $30, saving myself a whopping $40 just by checking the BB website first...

A tip for everyone, if you don't already do this:  I use the search box on the BB website to pull up a listing of all their Blu-rays within a specific price range - in my case, all BD titles priced under $10.  To do this, in the search box at the top of the page, I select "Movies" for the category and put a period (.) in the "Keyword" box, then click the search button - this will list ALL the movie titles BB offers. Then in the left column under "Narrow my Search" I click on "Blu-ray Disc" (4245 titles as of today) then after the screen refreshes, I scroll down to the "Price Range" section in the left column and select the price range I'm looking for.  Did you ever realize BB has over 200 Blu-ray titles on sale for under $10 at any given time?  I can then sort the list of BDs alphabetically, or by price, popularity, or release date. This is a convenient way to find some really cheap movies to build up your collection very quickly - I've been purchasing about 4 BDs a week just from the under $10 catagory, and new movie titles are rotated in and out at least weekly.  Another tip - if you right-click on the webpage listing all the BDs in a certain price range, and click "Create a Shortcut" to put an icon on your desktop (in Windows XP), you'll have one-click access to that list of bargain BDs right from your desktop, that you can easily check every week for newly-listed titles...

^ I do that every single Saturday night before I go to bed.  That way I know what I want if I hit BB on Sunday or Tuesday.  This week, for example, they have Silence of the Lambs for 9.99 (quite frequently, actually), both Fantastic Four movies for 9.99 each, the first X Files movie for 9.74 and some other specials which are also store prices (Daybreakers, The Crazies and Drag Me to Hell for 12.99).  I plug those into my Google calendar so I have prices and what I want whenever I'm by a computer.

Awesome!  A big bonus for me is, the office where I work is basically right across the street from both a Best Buy and an Ultimate Electronics store, which also has a under $10 bargain-BD shelf which they rotate new titles to every week.  I just mosey on over and hit-up both stores at least once a week after I've checked the BB website and the UE weekly flyer on their website... Heheh, good thing I'm single now, at least I no longer have any "wife factor" to worry about curtailing any wild BD purchasing sprees...

I've also been going down to Fry's every Saturday for a few weeks to find pretty nifty sales.  The BD two-pack of Dr. No and Quantum of Solace for just under $20, for example.  I just need to stay out of these stores since I have absolutely no will power!

The paycheck never stretches as far as I want it to, with this addiction and wanting to put money away and all that other stuff.  I have to stay away from those shiny discs!

I tried to pick up Dark Knight at Target after work yesterday, but they were all sold out by the time I got there. This is the biggest problem I have with that chain, because they shelve very small quantities of given titles.
