The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

The Specials

--I''ve got to just say that I really earned my pay this week putting together the WRU.    Not just the sheer volume of it (and there are other weeks forthcoming with numerous titles-of-interest) but also strangeness regarding release dates, re-releases of titles in DVD/BD Combo Packs, a ton of themed M-G-M film collections I waded through (but ultimately rejected for this week's offering), unusually bad forum bugginess, etc.  But, nevertheless, here 'tis.

--We start off this week's "Specials" with an EXCLUSIVE BLU-RAY RELEASE of 1986's The Mission by Amazon.com.

--To start off this week's "Specials" at Best Buy, I'd like to make a note about one of LAST WEEK'S new releases.  BB will have the Blu-ray Combo Pack of Iron Man 2 on sale for $19.99 this week.

--Best Buy has an EXCLUSIVE Blu-ray Two-Pack containing BOTH the 1984 and 2010 versions of The Karate Kid for $35.99.

--Here is one of those really strange things about this week's releases.  This week's Best Buy flyer has the following advertised title (which does not show up on any of my new release lists):

bb-mbv3-d.jpg  That same title is currently $14.49 at Amazon.com.  61e-9kYgmDL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

If the Best Buy version features the newer Blu-ray 3-D technology I can't find any info on it anywhere.  And, Amazon doesn't have it for sale.

--Best Buy has a FREE $5 GIFTCARD if you pre-order the HBO miniseries The Pacific on either DVD or Blu-ray.   Available only at bestbuy.com/pacific.  Offer valid 10-3-10 thru11-1-10.  Blu-ray and DVD available November 2.

--Best Buy has an EXCLUSIVE FREE LIMITED EDITION COLLECTIBLE TOY STORY 3 IRONPACK CASE when you pre-order TS3 Blu-ray combo pack by November 1.  Blu-ray Combo Pack available and DVD available November 2.  Minimum $7.50 deposit required.  Blu-ray and DVD discs not included with Ironpack case.  Pre-order MUST be made between 10-3-10 and 11-1-10.  Release date subject to chnge.  Limit 3 per title per customer while suppl;ies last.  No dealers.  Good in USA only.  Void where prohibited.  See a customer specialist for details.

--Best Buy has the following Blu-ray titles on sale this week for $12.99:  Coraline, Orphan, Halloween II, Daybreakers.

--Best Buy Odds and Ends:  A list of DVDs for $4.99 apiece.

--At Target this week an EXCLUSIVE FREE DISNEY PRINCESS CD with their copies of the Blu-ray combo pack of Beauty and the Beast.  Quantities limited, no rainchecks.

--Target Odds and Ends: Target has an exclusive "Iron Monster" Sesame Street DVD for $9.99.

A few bonus hours of the RoundUp again this week...as it's me, the free Wi-Fi, and that little library nestled in the Adirondack Mountains on a Saturday night!    This weekend will mark the end of the summer visits, though, and we should be back on a regular schedule for awhile.

Enjoy one of the bigger RoundUps in quite a while...

Something for everyone this week(except of course the first person who chimes in with a "nothing for me this week"...but I would still find that hard to believe).

Nothing for me this...wait, kidding.  USPS delivered Beauty and the Beast and Grindhouse today, which will make for quite a triple-feature.  smile.gif  Next up is The Exorcist.  And this is also a big week for John Lennon fans, as much of his music catalog is being reissued in honor of what would have been his 70th birthday.

Thanks for the round-up!

I'll be picking up the Beauty And The Best (Toys R Us has it for $13) and Grindhouse Blu-rays this week. At some point, I'll grab The Exorcist and Treasure Of The Sierra Madre too.

I already bought the Beauty & The Beast steelbook at BB, so I'll be getting the actual Blu-Ray there (with the $10 off coupon). Grindhouse can wait for a price drop, as can The Secret Of Kells. I'll also probably grab the Toy Story 3 steelbook while I'm at it.

Thanks Mike!  And yes, you were worth twice your usual pay for this week!  I'll be getting Beauty and the Beast and All in the Family season 7!  I have a sneaky suspicion that the wife has already picked up Iron Man 2 for my B'day tomorrow!  Um, er... today!

Beauty and the Beast for me!

Karate Kid combo pack & Beauty & The Beast.   Wal Mart has a movie ticket for Tangled with B&TB.

Two copies of Beauty and the Beast (thanks for putting it in "first" position up there, Mike!) and Iron Man 2 at Best Buy.  I would assume at least something from the FYE used bin next weekend, but I don't know that for sure.

After what seems like an eternity, my Mary Tyler Moore series will be complete!!! It shipped yesterday, so I should have it Monday. And a few of the various horror titles will end up as rentals for the Scary Movie Challenge if I have time!
Ill be getting grindhouse blu ray this week. I was 1 of the lucky few, that caught amazon"s 13.99 price mistake a while back. Itll be interesting to finally see the theatrical version.

Oh, yeah!  How could I forget?  Add Mary Tyler Moore to the list!  There was a time when I thought I would never see that happen!

How could you forget gunsmoke season 4?

What a week!

Beauty and the Beast and Grindhouse on Blu -- AITF-S7 and MTM-S7 on DVD ... and this is just the beginning of the "Fall Blockbusters" ... !!

Beauty and the Beast, for sure.

I was thinking of getting Ken Burns's 10th Inning - (what's the matter; you couldn't find a better screen capture?) -

but the idea of getting the entire set including the newest episode - albeit in SD -  for a bit over $30 extra seems

kind of tempting.

Edit: by the way, it's the Year without a Santa Claus, not Clause. The reason I mention this is that I wasn't familiar with this title and

I thought this was a new sequel in the Tim Allen series.

Lets see...Last of the Mohicans, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and when they hit the 10 to $15 range Mad Max, and The Maltese Falcon, all on Blu.

Beside that...nothing for me this week. Thanks as always guys.

Grindhouse for sure this week!!

Thanks for the writeup

Fixed the typo.  Thanks!

I actually had a couple other images at the ready, Marvin, for The 10th Inning!  Do you like these any better?

Given that it "includes 4 pairs of 3D glasses," I think this is just a regular old blue/green/red type 3D release, not the newer BR3D technology. I think they're just putting out these 3D releases to try and capitalize on the 3D fad in theaters. The recent release of Ice Age 3 in 3D was also the older 3D technology.

I don't quite understand the logic, as this red/green/blue 3D still looks awful and is nothing like the current digital 3D seen in theaters.

Honestly, not much of interest to me. But if I have to buy something, it would probably be Splice

The ketchup shot!

I guess I'll have to look for the real highlights once/if I get this.

"Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead"

Are they really?

My local Best Buy still had a few on the shelf when I was in there yesterday, so, you may want to check out a store(s) near you. I believe the only stipulation is that it is supposed to be a "pre-order" purchase (i.e. before you pick up the combo pack on Tuesday).

Guess it all depends if you're lucky enough to still find one at a Best Buy near you.   A friend asked me to get him one, and I had to visit 4 locations to finally find one for him on Saturday.  And it was the last copy at that location!  Best Buy's website & the individual store's stocking systems actually said my 1st two stops on Saturday should have had the steelbooks available, but couldn't find a one in the store.  Heck, the 4th store was supposed to have at least 4 in stock, but I got the last one from what I could tell.  They were being sold via an endcap in the movie dept at each store, and I think the copy I got was still there only because it had gotten placed amongst the other Disney blu-ray titles on the normal stocking shelf.  So, good luck on your hunt.  Oh, and as Gary posted, it's supposed to be a pre-order bonus, so it'd be best to check Monday vs waiting to see if you can still get one after B&B is released.

Picked up Planet Terror BluRay at Best Buy for $9.95. I'd seen it for $12.95 a lot, but I was waiting for it to be under $10 -- and with the release of the double feature version I guess that motivated the individual releases to go under $10.

Also picked up Resident Evil part 2, also on Blu for $9.95. I know that is the bad one, and I'm only getting it as a show of support for the other parts.

I think it was mentioned here somewhere, but I'm way too lazy to figure it out.  Best Buy has all six Saw movies on BD for $9.99 each.  I didn't see them on BB.com, but there are tags on the shelf in store.

Thanks as always Mike & Patrick.

I'm getting Beauty and the Beast BD this week. Disney Movie Rewards has a $10 off coupon valid through 10/12/2010:

http://www.disneymovierewards.go.com/promotions/special-offers/batblptw-coupon

Note that you have to be a member of DMR to print the coupon, but it's free to sign-up.

It will be interesting to see if Amazon has a significant price drop to offset the B&M $10 coupon.

I'm also getting The Karate Kid (2010) Combo Pack. Amazon has dropped their price on both BD versions. The BD only (single disc) version is now $22.99, and the BD Combo Pack (two disc) version is now $19.99.

Mike - just a heads-up that the both BD grid links point to same item: the Combo Pack version.

Fixed!  Thanks, Jeff.  And both versions of TKK @ amazon are now listed at $19.99.  Strangeness.
