Star Wars: The Clone Wars- Season Three

The new season starts next Friday (September 17) at 9 PM with two new episodes.

Glad to see the show is getting good reviews. (There's even a positive blurb in the new issue of EW about the fall TV season.) I think it's been really good. Hopefully, they will start to show more of Anakin's progression to the dark side; many feel it was too abrupt in Revenge of the Sith.

I have a feeling we may see Anakin being pulled back from the brink of the dark side at some point in the series possibly to do with Ahsoka. Would be good to see I think.

Yeah, I've been a big fan of this show myself. The major thing they're going to eventually have to deal with is Ahsoka's final fate, seeing as how Anakin no longer has an apprentice by the time Revenge of the Sith opens -- I'm sure the writers and Lucas have something of an endgame in mind, or at least a notion of what's going to happen to her, one way or the other.

Looking forward to this premiere.

Here's a thought I had about how it may play out - Anakin has visions of Ahsoka's death and consults Palpatine about it. He mentions he has had them before when his mother died and confides in him about how he reacted

Sounds obvious I know. Im sure Filoni has an idea in mind for Ahsoka and Im also sure it probably wont play out the way most will imagine it. Everyone is expecting her to die so who knows

That's the only reason that I think that Ahsoka might live.

Maybe an epilogue or something similar will depict her surviving long enough to go on the run, once Vader and the Emperor destroy the Jedi Order -- it could very well be that she meets her end as an adult, years later, on Vader's blade.

At least, that's what I'd love to see happen. It'd add some poignancy to the whole series, finding out that she later gets hunted down and murdered by her own former master.

I think that Ahsoka will mistakenly be thought killed in battle just before Episode III takes place (so it's still a piece helping to lead Anakin to the dark side) but she'll just be wounded and someone will take care of her and then Order 66 will happen. After that, she just has to hide out for the rest of her life.

Yeah, I had similar thoughts to that scenario, myself -- and I think that having Ahsoka somehow survive, grow to adulthood, but become this utterly spent, almost embittered, individual, due to having lost/deliberately suppressed her connection to the Force would be as equally powerful from a dramatic standpoint as having her killed by the Empire would be.

In fact, there was a comic book series (SW: Dark Empire) which dealt with this very issue, where Luke, Han, and Leia encounter a "fallen Jedi" (Vima-Da-Boda) who'd cast herself down among the lost and renounced her Force-powers in order to save herself from being hunted down by Darth Vader and the Empire, once the Jedi Purge started.

Seeing Ahsoka forced into this type of situation (though perhaps not 100% exactly identical) would be interesting.

Tonight's the night. Back to back episodes.

I had forgotten this was starting back up.  Thanks for this thread and Directv having Cartoon Network West.  I was able to set the dvr to record the west coast showing at 12am. (9pm pst).

Very good premiere episodes. Is it just me or is the animation of human facial expressions getting better? The previews for the rest of the season make it look very exciting. Let's hope it lives up to it.

I thought so, too. Especially with Asajj Ventress. Also, the clothing seem to be flowing a lot more then they did in the earlier seasons. Was that me, or did they really work on that?

I didn't realize it was a two episode premiere and thought it was very odd none of the main characters appeared in the first half hour.  Yes, the animation has been steadily getting better, including the movements and textures.  For a program being produced on a TV schedule, the increase in quality is very nice to see.

The battle on Camino in the second episode especially stood out.  A lot of it (shots without characters) looks close to lifelike, all things considered.

Cartoon Network edited the ARC Troopers episode by a few seconds. When Asajj Ventress kills a trooper with her lightsaber, she kisses him as he dies. You can see the very short clip here:

Needless to say, that footage will be in the episode on Blu-ray and DVD.

Great premiere. Count me in for this whole coming season.

The attack on Tipoca City was pretty cool, and Grievous's plan to hide subs in the debris of the large capital ships was a killer idea.

Found the first episode to be quite poor really, but great second episode. Will keep watching :)

I love this series!  It's ironic the quality of the the live action movies (particularly Episodes I-III) pales in comparison to the Clone Wars animated series.  At least to me.  smile.gif

Didn't much care for this one.  I hope next week's Mandalore episode is better, though I don't think any of the Mandalore episodes have been too exciting.  Mandalore is a little too Naboobish, with the queen in crazy outfits and all the talk, talk, talk about internal politics.  Maybe it's because we always pictured Mandalore as Sparta, with a bunch of Bobas running around cracking heads all the time.

Yeah, this wasn't the best episode but I kinda have to give them credit for taking a risk and not showing much of the Jedi in the first 5 episodes. I think Anakin and Obi-Wan have only been the focus of one episode and I'm pretty sure that Ahsoka has only been in one episode total. That being said, I'm hoping they spend more time on the main characters soon.

This season has been pretty dull.  They really need to get back to the clone battles.  And, Friday's was apparently a prequel to the season one finale.  What?  I've only seen the episodes once and certainly don't remember that far back.

Oh thanks for sharing a nice information with all of us.I will definitely watch it

I enjoyed the most recent episode with the droids. It was nice to focus on them for a change. I also liked that everything wasn't tied up neatly at the end - their memories were wiped, the bad guys got the info they wanted, and no one was the wiser.

You don't really have to worry about the chronology though. In the S1 finale, Cad Bane breaks into the Senate building (using the plans that he got from R2-D2 in this week's episode) but you don't need to see him get the plans to enjoy that episode and with this week's episode, it was about Bane getting the plans rather than what he was going to do with them. It's cool when I realized where this episode fell in terms of continuity but that's more like an easter egg than something that is important to fully following the story.

I liked this week's episode (juxtaposing R2-D2 in the spa with C-3PO getting tortured made me laugh) but I do wish they'd get back to some action episodes.

It just never occured to me that this episode was anything but current events.  Someone on another forum said, "I'm sick of them jumping around in the timeline."  I must be a lazy viewer, because I didn't even know it had happened before or was happening during this episode!

Yeah, it's been crazy this year. When they have a character or event that's supposed to give you an idea of 'when' it is, I get it but it's only because I know a frightening amount about Star Wars. Like I said though, if you never noticed it before, it goes to show that it doesn't really matter.

Off the top of my head, here's a couple examples of timeline jumping this season:

- The two episode season opener (with the untested clones training and then their participation in the battle on Kamino) is part one and three with 'Rookies' from early in S1 being part two of their story.

- The fourth episode (Sphere Of Influence with Bail Organa and Jar Jar on a diplomatic mission) chronologically introduces a Twi'lek resistance fighter character that was first seen in a few episodes near the end of the first season.

And even I needed the starwars.com episode guide to figure this one out but the chronology involving this week's episode is nuts. It goes:

- episode 216- Cat And Mouse

- 116- The Hidden Enemy

- The Clone Wars movie

- many other S1 and S2 episodes

- the Boba Fett episodes from the end of S2 (220- Death Trap, 221- R2 Come Home and 222- Lethal Trackdown)

- 307- Assassin

- 308- Evil Plans (the latest episode to air)

- 122- Hostage Crisis (the S1 finale with Cad Bane busting Ziro The Hutt out of prison)

- 309- Hunt For Ziro (the episode that airs on Friday night)

Judging by these clips, there's some potentially awesome episodes coming down the pike:

Also, there's going to be screenings of the episode in large cities around the country. You have to bring a toy for needy children but other than that, it's free and you get to see the episode about a month before it airs. The list of cities is here http://www.starwars.com/darthmaulsecrets/index.html

Heh.  I got a real kick out of the Hutt head headwear.  It's also amusing how they embrace elements some fans hate, such as musical numbers with Sy Snootles.

I have been VERY disappointed with this season. Am i the only one?

Boring, and a bit more "kid friendly" this season.

It's mainly because the whole damn thing has been a flashback.  Who cares to fill in those gaps?  I know they have a limited number of years to work with, but I want clones and clone battles, not an extended riff on a forgettable storyline from two season ago.  I did like this week's, though.  I'm a sucker for swamps.
