The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Lol, Mike...

I thought of you Thursday night when I left the store after closing and there was a couple in our parking lot, both with laptops, enjoying Starbucks' free wi-fi!

Thanks Mike and Pat!

Nothing for me this week but that's probably a good thing since next week is fairly expensive (Lost and The Simpsons Blu-rays).

Thanks for the prices, guys!

The only titles on Blu-ray that interest me this week are Dexter: Season 4 and Hamlet.  Won't be getting them right away though.  I'll wait for the eventual price-drops.  Thanks guys!

The Bourne films in "slim packaging" is on sale at Amazon. Does anyone know if this "slim" version is three individual slim cases, or is it a fold out hard-plastic gatefold kind of thing?

The exterior looks similar to the older 3-pack which was a box with three full-size cases inside. But this is a different item, different SKU, and half the price.

Anyone know details?

Prices remain ridiculous so nothing new for me.  I may bite on The Crazies at $20 but that seems to be only a matter of short time till it's under $15.

Thanks as always, sorry to sound like a broken record on these prices but I have zero interest in new releases when they remain that high.

When I was typing up BB's bonus disc for the Dexter release, it struck me that it seems like it's been quite awhile since BB has offered up any exclusive bonus material.

Not that that's a bad thing...

^ Next week, Lost has a Best Buy bonus disc.

The producers of Lost have certainly taken things to a new level then!

It probably includes behind-the-scenes interviews with blue and yellow shirted employees about what goes on that customers never see.  We used to say they had photos of me up in their break room in case I ever showed up with counterfeit "Preferred Customer" coupons...

Sold, thanks!

Assuming my shiny new BB card gets here this week, I will be procuring a new PS3 as well as making a little headway into rebuilding the collection...but with a twist this time.

I will actually watch what I buy.  :)

Hey, Aaron.  We were talking once about getting FYE Backstage Pass cards, right?!?

I went ahead and got one and it's terrific.  10% off everything you buy and a coupon you can print up for every time you go in the store for further discounts on any one item.  $25 bucks for the year.  I decided to get one since FYE is one of the few B&M retailers I have left and the locations usually have a nice selection of used stuff.

I actually did get one, but I canceled it after getting the initial $20 gift card because I just don't buy things there very often.  I stop in sometimes when I'm at the mall, but their prices are generally not too exciting.  I remember going in on my birthday for the 20% extra discount and walking out disappointed.  Their used BD prices mostly suck and their used CD selection is not that great.  IIRC, there were some other benefits related to restaurant and travel discounts that seemed OK -- do they still offer those?

At least, I think I got the initial $20 gift card.  Not sure where it is.

Most of my recent CD purchases have been made at, believe it or not, Hot Topic.  I got their new loyalty card, which is free (and, coincidentally, runs on software for which I write the documentation :) ).

You must've got their card with the monthly fee?  They have two different ones.  The one I got has a one-time cost of $25 and is good for a calendar year.  It gets you 10% off all items purchased and then there are coupons for 25% off one item or 40% off one used item--things like that.

For those interested in the blu-ray combo pack of The Last Song, you can get a $10 coupon at www.thelastsongcoupon.com.  Hurry though as it is only good through Aug 22nd.

Hm. . .now that you mention it, I think that card was something like $10/ month.  I don't remember for sure though.
