This is now at the top of my must buy list.

What I plan to do is buy it from the studio

store when I go to Paramount in a few weeks.

I feel that's the only way I can be assured of

getting the newer version.  I don't feel safe

purchasing from Amazon.

Ron you won't be disappointed. I couldn't spot any type of filtering or edge enhancement whatsoever. The grain is resolved beautifully. It's a perfect example of how a film should be transferred.

FWIW, I took a chance with Amazon, and received one with the yellow bar code from them today.  Picture quality confirmed that it was the corrected release.  smile.gif

My replacement disc arrived today, almost exactly two weeks after I mailed it to Paramount.

Kind of funny.  I was at the Paramount studio store

on the lot today hoping to nab a copy of Gladiator on

Blu-ray.

Thought for certain they would have the new pressings.

What they had were an entire row of Gladiator Blu-rays

with white UPC labels on the back.

So, I am going to wait to shop locally to see if I can

nab a copy with the yellow UPC label.

at this point wait til thanksgiving sales, might get a good price. i lucked out last year and paid 10 bucks for it, then got my 10 buck rebate for owning the dvd.

on another note im sending back my disk 1 today, we'll see how long it takes to get a replacement

I received my replacement today.  I sent the disc 10/25 USPS first class, and received the replacement via FedEx Ground today, 11/16.  That's just over 3 weeks.

Someone gave me GLADIATOR BD as an early

Christmas gift.

It was bought on Amazon.

Wouldn't you know it, there is no yellow UPC sticker.

Is the replacement process still the same?

I take it no need to call the number first?

UPDATE

Called Customer Service at Paramount.

Seems that I have the corrected disc despite

the fact that the packaging does not have the

yellow UPC label.

They had me read off the NA code embedded on

the data side of the disc.  It ends in B1R2

Allegedly, this is the corrected disc.

Anyone else can verify?

I take it if this is the incorrect disc I will

immediately notice the inferior transfer quality?

B1R2 is the correct remastered disc. I think most discs in the U.S. are now the correct ones, they sent all the bad discs to Canada, wrapped in new cases with yellow stickers. That's what we get for stealing alot of movie production from Hollywood! laugh.gif

Okay, so I don't have to worry about the fact that

the disc arrived without a yellow UPC.

I guess they just aren't putting them on the replaced

copies anymore.

Mine arrived with the yellow upc and had the wrong disc inside. Thankfully, I sent it back to Paramount and a new B1R2 replacement arrived two weeks later. That's about the only thing in this whole mess that worked out right the first time.

I'm trying to find the post that shows the mistake or the bug of this Blu-Ray release, can you post the link?

I'm curious to see/know/understand the problem with this disc. To date, I never found the new release with a yellow UPC in store.

Thank you,

The arrows in the opening sequence were apparently scrubbed from the picture.

Got the movie for Christmas and finally got around to watching it this afternoon. Was very disappointed in the video. Parts looked okay, but it was nothing near the presentation of Braveheart. Called the number and was quickly asked to look for a yellow UPC. (Mine's white) Then was asked for a number that was on the data side of disc 1. The number started with NA and I was unable to locate it but read off a BVDL number that was used to verify I did not have an updated version. I will be shipping it out today or tomorrow. God speed, Gladiator.

Hi Matt,

Well, at least some good news out of this.

You saw what you felt was a disappointing transfer.

Had it been the correct version I would have been

disappointed to hear it.  Thankfully, it was the wrong

version.

I can tell you that the corrected version is a real

treat to watch.  They did a superb job on the remaster.

I'm glad I watched it before returning it. I really am looking forward to seeing how much improved it is.

I got it in the mail today. (03/14/11) The clock is ticking. :)

Received my replacement yesterday (03/29/11), just 16 days of wait time. It was shipped back to me by FedEx.

I'm much happier with this presentation.
