Where should I place the TV/Sound System in the Den

My layout is linked below..it's one big elongated den area...  I'm trying to get a nice home theater setup with good acoustics for the sound system. Is it better to place the speaker system/tv on the narrow or wider area of a room..does it make a big difference?

A) Layout A would be to place the tv all the way to the right of the room(Narrow Side)
Consit's hard to get a sectional to fit in that setup due to the narrow area(can fit one but most would only leave about 12-14 inches to get in to the tv area)

B) Layout B would be to place the tv on upper right beige square
ConsLoss of sound quality due to setup?  Only two chairs at the table can view the tv.

What are your thoughts?

How much light comes in those windows and patio door?  I think you best bet is in the upper right corner (or the lower right corner if reflections are going to be a problem)  something similar to this.  You could put the couch against the wall if you needed to maximize space.

If you run the corner setup with a plasma, you'll not have an issue with the table viewing the TV. I used a corner setup for my previous house in a similiar area, and it worked fine. I also agree on swapping corners if the windows are an annoyance, if you can? Have you bought any gear yet? I found that a down firing sub worked better in a corner arrangement. The sub is a Klipsch, and I built and painted an MDF base for it so it could fire against that, instead of carpet.

On the flip side, putting the setup against the flat wall would allow you a little better speaker configuration. I noticed more immersive sound when I was able to kick the fronts out wide, and angle them in towards us. I could not do that in the corner setup.

Is this room already built or is it being framed still? If the room is finished then you can experement with placement. Either format you can do a 48-52 inch screen. Try placing it and testing the sound to see what your preference is. One thought - your fronts dont HAVE to be flush with the screen and bringing them closer could create the perception of more width...

If you are in framing you can pre-wire for both setups. What Ii did was pre-wire after drywall, texture and paint. I tied fishing line to the wires, pushed them back into the wall then patched the hole with a few inches of fishing line sticking out. I can recover the lines whenever I want and the fishing line is quite invisible - I have to run my hand over the area to find it.
