Eureka Season 4

Premiere was tonight, and I thought it was an excellent way to shake things up where they were starting to get stale at times last year.

Anyone else watch?

Yeah, I thought it was pretty good.  Summer TV is just good fun "popcorn" type programming, but it suits me.

I really enjoyed it.  It was fun and funny.  I had a good laugh at the Fargo time travel entrance.

Loved it. Nice change of pace. James Callis morphs from Dr. Baltar to Dr. Trevor Grant.

Pretty bold bit of storytelling this week, to completely throw everything we know up in the air and say "it's all different now".

So far I've been enjoying this season quite a bit.  I thought the last season was really week and I was close to giving up on watching this one, but I think it's gotten interesting again.  Let's hope they stay on track.

I thought they were going to somehow get back to the original timeline, but with this week's episode it appears that will not be happening.  This week's episode was direction by Colin Ferguson, which may help explain why he had less of a role than usual.  It was the second half of the crossover with Warehouse 13.  It didn't follow seamlessly from the Warehouse 13 episode, but it was a fun experiment which may have introduced viewers of just one of the series to the other.  The Eureka episode was more of an arc episode than the Warehouse 13 episode was.

I hope they actually go somewhere by bringing Beverly back, that could be awesome.  ... Or it could be the kind of thing they ignore after an episode or two.

I see them all getting returned to the previous time line just as they are getting used to this new time line.

Well, it looks like they will go to another timeline in the mid-season finale.  I think that it can't be exactly the previous timeline or this one we've been seeing most of the season.  It will have to be a third with some subtle changes brought about by Dr. Grant's knowledge.

I guess we'll see.  In any case we should still have the character growth they experienced so far this season.

By the way, check out the Eureka Unscripted site for more info.

About the next episode:

A:  It's the MID-season finale, not the season finale of season four.  We still have 10 episodes left to air and, no, those episodes don't have airdates yet.  But our money's on winter, spring, or summer. :)

I'm sorry, but if the second half airs next summer, it's not a mid-season finale, but a season finale.  They pulled that with season 3 (which is why I consider this season as season 5) and why I figure they'll pull the same crap again.

And the last episode shows why the show really misses the Jack / Stark dynamic.

Well, color me surprised with the events of the "mid-season finale."  As mentioned above I thought they would be changing enough in the past to go to a quite different timeline when all was done, but instead things were just wrapped up with Dr. Grant.

I am very glad to see that we at least will be getting a special Christmas episode.  If we are lucky the season will then resume in January or February.

The Christmas special aired last night.   Haven't seen yet (just on the DVR) but here's the promo

It's a good thing this show is on OnDemand since I missed it.

I think I'm digging these shows airing a Christmas special.  I'm hoping more will do the same that have some sort of long, seasonal hiatus.

The Christmas special was fun.  It was great to see Taggart again.

The Warehouse 13 one appeared more "in continuity" than Eureka's did.  Eureka's played as if they could play it again in any future season.  It was as if the framing device was some future year while the story inside really felt like it was a past season in the current timeline.  At least Fargo's actions and perhaps the Zane/Lupo interaction did.
