Yes, it was a terrific episode. In the last 10 years, the Simpsons has done some of its best work when it turned to no-holds-barred political humor. (Circa 2004, there was one where the Simpsons went to jail for being un-American, only to find Michael Moore, Bill Clinton and Elmo in prison; best line: "Elmo chose the wrong friends.") The show's parodies of Fox News over the years have been spot-on and deadly funny. Glad to see such a strong episode in the current season.

Not sure when the next new Season 23 episodes will air, but "Politically Inept, with Homer Simpson" is one of the next few episodes I'm looking forward to seeing, along with "The Man in the Blue Flannel Pants".

There was an episode from one of the earlier seasons of The Simpsons, which had this hilarious scene where Bart plays a prank on the churchgoers. Turns out it was the episode "Bart Sells His Soul". In the scene, he switches the hymn sheet for another one with the words for The Garden of Eden. It isn't until fifteen minutes later that Reverend Lovejoy realises what's happened, and then the elderly lady playing the church organ collapses on the organ keys, following the end of the "hymn".

Not long to go now till the 500th episode milestone (a fortnight yesterday).

Tonight's episode (The Daughter Also Rises) has a funny couch gag.

Tonight's the 500th (!) episode.

I liked the message at the end saying to go outside and get some fresh air before posting on the internet that the show sucked. Made me think of HTF as they have been posting here for years that the Simpsons suck. LOL

^ I'm basically the guy that they're talking about but I do think the episodes in the past few years have improved quite a bit. That or I've accepted that it's impossible to be as good as it was and my expectations have finally shifted to accept the show for what it now is. smile.gif

I laughed outloud at Chalmers' line about the school system that "teaches the test, sneaks the kids the answers and still fails."

I'm sure the writers, showrunners etc. have been perfectly aware for many years now of the internet has been saying the show has sucked. Still, good to have a sense of humor about it.

Season 23 resuming next month, so Sky 1 should be showing the 500th episode around late April/early May (if they show a new episode every week).

Felt The Simpsons wasn't as good in the 11th and 12th seasons, but then it rejuvenated itself after that. Any or many veteran TV shows will have duff episodes, and while I prefer the earlier seasons because of the amount of gags per episode, The Simpsons more than holds it's own these days against other comedy series.

Tonight's couch gag was one of the best I've seen in years. Comic Book Guy had to have written it.

I haven't seen the episode yet, but the couch gag was absolutely amazing. It was awesome that the GOT producers allowed them to use the score.
