SYNOPSES

Back to the Future

From the Academy Award®-winning filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis comes Back to the Future, the original, groundbreaking adventure that sparked one of the most successful trilogies in Hollywood history. When teenager Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is blasted to 1955 in the DeLorean time machine created by the eccentric Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd), he finds himself mixed up in a time-shattering chain reaction that could vaporize his future—and leave him trapped in the past. Powered by innovative special effects, unforgettable songs and non-stop action, Back to the Future is an unrivaled adventure that stands the test of time.

Back to the Future Part II

Getting back was only the beginning as the most spectacular time-travel adventure ever continues in Back to the Future Part II—the sequel that proves that lightning can strike twice! Picking up precisely where they left off, Marty and Doc (Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd) launch themselves to the year 2015 to fine-tune the future and inadvertently disrupt the space-time continuum. Now, their only chance to fix the present is by going back to 1955 again before it’s too late. From Academy Award®-winning filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis, Back to the Future Part II provides more of the timeless excitement that made Back to the Future an unforgettable adventure.

Back to the Future Part III

They've saved the biggest trip for last as the most popular time-traveling movie trilogy ever comes to a rousing conclusion in Back to the Future Part III. Stranded in 1955 after a freak accident, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) discovers he must travel back to 1885 to rescue Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) before he becomes smitten with schoolteacher Clara Clayton (Mary Steenburgen). Now, it's up to Marty to keep Doc out of trouble, get the DeLorean running, and put the past, present and future on track so they can all get back to where—and when—they belong. From the Academy Award®-winning filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis, Back to the Future Part III is a spectacular grand finale to the unforgettable blockbuster series.

My most anticipated catalog release.....

I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!!

So glad they are doing some new documentaries with folks who weren't involved with the previous release.

Pretty cool.

I knew BTTF was rumored to be coming this year but this was a pleasant surprise since the date and specs of a title this big usually get leaked out a few days or weeks before the actual studio press release.

With Universal, one always has to be leery of problems with picture quality.  Hopefully, the likes of Zemeckis and Spielberg will make them do it right.

Travis,

Every site was sitting on this news since late last week.

We were told not to release it until Monday @8:30am EST

I was very surprised none of it leaked out except for two

sites that jumped the gun this morning 10-15 minutes early.

I saw in another announcement that the image will retain the film grain too.

Yup, over at BTTF.com, Bob Gale said that the HD masters are beautiful and film-like. My mouth is salivating....

Isn't it nice to hear this directly from the filmmakers? I hope Universal is listening. It isn't just us fans that want film grain preserved.

The Digital Bis is also reporting that they've received news from www.bttf.com via Bob Gale that some of the Eric Stoltz footage will be on the new set!

Words cannot express how excited I am to get my hands on this set.

Yippie Yeah

Aweome

the good

director involvement

spielberg involvement

film grain

the bad

missing drew artwork for all three titles

I'm hoping that's just a slip case and inside each film has its own separate case with the original poster artwork. Even if it doesn't its still better then the dvd box set cover. That thing was ugly, especially the Canadian version with its horrible french text all over it.

Anyone notice Elijah Wood gets mentioned in the press release like he has a big part in the films? Don't blink during the Cafe 80s scene or miss his very notable performance.

everything looks perfect, too bad it has to use that awful u-control feature.

I couldn't agree more Tony.  U-Control is simply awful.

First of all, "you" really can't control anything.  You have to watch the entire feature just to access bonus content that could just as easily have been put on a menu page.

Still, looking forward to this BD.  Looks very promising other than this one item.

This is heavy, Doc!

"Why are things so heavy in the future?  Is there a problem with the Earth's gravitational pull?"

One of my all time favorite lines!

Good, just like the artwork on the laserdiscs! Each film had this same art, pretty much, of Marty and the Delorean with each character added per film.

This is going to be a great Fall Season for BD releases, this and Forbidden Planet.

I can not wait for this title!  Back To The Future Trilogy in 1080p and lossless audio, quick someone pinch us all so we know it's not a dream, ROFL.  But seriously I like many here love this trilogy and never seem to get tired of it so I can not wait for it to come out on Bluray.  Not sure however what I will do with the dvd version?  Are there any screen shots available yet?  I remember there was a one time viewing of the first film from the Bluray master and the opinion was that it was a really good transfer.

Of course not - it's an embedded YouTube vid in Flash format. Just fire up the YouTube app and search for "Back to the Future 25th Anniversary".

Can't wait for this set!!! Any early blu ray reviews online yet?

Well, maybe review will start showing up in a week or so. Lets not forget its still a month away.  Im curious to how these will look. A while  back these were playing on a hdtv channel, they were a noticable improvement from the dvds.  Im assuming the blu rays will be even better than the hd tv broadcast.

Haven't seen any of the screeners yet.  Probably another two weeks out and give another few days for a thorough review.

I haven't seen anything come my way yet.  My last screener has been Get Him to the Greek.

I figure I won't see anything from Universal until at least the 11th, and probably not until the 18th.

Of course, I could always jump forward in time, get the copy and then come back to write the review.

Does anyone have a modified DeLorean and 1.21 gigawatts of electricity available?

But I must find 1.21 gigawatts somehow!  Tom!  Al!  Isaac!  It's never been done!  How can I get 1.21 gigawatts?....
