Storage sleeves for Blu-ray (1 Viewer)

I was shopping in Target and saw these, made by Atlantic:





Which I thought looked somewhat similar in concept to these, made by MMdesigns:





But at almost a third of the price once shipping is factored in!


When I got them home I was disappointed to find the sleeves are only meant to hold inner materials (and what DVDs include those these days?), not cover art, coming in about a quarter-inch too narrow. But it occurred to me it would probably be just fine for Blu-ray's slightly smaller case size. And here's the result:





Although I'd like to find something similar for DVDs at a comparable price, if you're like me your DVD collection is relatively static or slowly shrinking compared to Blu-rays, so in one way it makes more sense to shift to sleeves for them.


That said, there are the occasional inconsistencies with the disc holders (which are a separate sleeve which goes into the larger envelope that holds the cover art), being a pretty tight fit on some and just fine with others. But the material will give and stretch, you just have to finesse the disc into the holder initially.


Of course they don't really address releases in special packaging or with slipcovers, but you'd face those issues with any compact storage solution.

One thing you can do is scan your dvd cover, and print it out. Then you can cut it to fit the sleeve. This way you don't ruin your original cover. If you don't have a scanner, you can go to this site and download the cover and print it out for free. http://www.cdcovers.cc/

They work pretty well, but I'm not in any rush to replace all my DVD cases with them. I tried out a batch and that will tide me over.


But the real coup was finding the Atlantic Sleeves on clearance for 50% at a local retailer, coming out to about 25 cents each.
