The Movie

Cheech and Chong’s Hey Watch This is a concert film of the duo’s "Light Up America" Reunion Tour recorded in 2009 at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Texas. The stoners are joined by Chong’s wife Shelby as well as a number of other characters also played by Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong.

Some documentary style "behind the scenes" footage is also cut into the concert performance to show the shenanigans occurring backstage during the show. Marin and Chong play a number of different characters, other than their usual ones, and those characters are not nearly as interesting as the Cheech and Chong we know and love. As a result, the various performances in the show are hit or miss. There is an amusing skit in which the comedians play a married couple watching a skin flick in a porno theater. Chong also talks about his real-life experience being busted and going to prison.  Other than that, the best parts of the show consist of Cheech and Chong doing what they do best, which is playing the dopehead characters that made them famous.

Video

Hey Watch This appears on Blu-Ray in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Video quality is excellent as to be expected for a film recorded on HD video. Grain is non-existent except for the backstage portions of the film which are deliberately grainy, though minimally so, to lend a documentary aspect to the film. DNR and edge enhancement are not apparent.

Audio

The English Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks are excellent in providing an immersive sound experience with audience cheering, applause, and music employed appropriately from the rear speakers, giving you the feeling of being there in the theater with the audience.

Special Features

The special features are limited to 4 deleted and extended scenes that were cut or shortened in the film:
Extended Tommy Chong Standup Routine
Shelby Chong's Extended Introduction
Backstage with Red Hickey and Shelby Chong
Shelby Chong with Doug and Dougie

Conclusion

Cheech and Chong’s Hey Watch This is an amusing concert film of the duo’s 2009 reunion tour. Perhaps half of the show is very funny and the other half not so much. The video and audio on this Blu-Ray are first rate, even if the material varies in quality. The special features are superficial, which is usually the case with concert films. Fans of Cheech and Chong will definitely appreciate this film, even if the material varies in quality (like their films). If you enjoyed Up In Smoke or Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie, then you will probably enjoy Cheech and Chong’s Hey Watch This

The porno skit sounds like a reprise of a scene that they did in "Things are tough all over" (1982). The film was mostly complete garbage, but their reactions in the porno theater scene were hilarious. It was just the other 80 minutes or so that was brutal to watch. It's worth a cheap rental for that one scene alone.

Edit: I should add.....assuming it is available on DVD. If I can find this film as a rental I may take a look at it. I'm curious how the skit you described would compare to what they did in the film.
