Great news about the eighth season. thumbsup.gif

Did Ironside's ratings drop enough for it to get cancelled, with three episodes unaired?

Well, June is well past now, so either Shout! is kicking this down the road or they've had second thoughts. On the up side, Season 8 (the show's last) has been announced in R4. Would love to see this show get finished in the States (can't stand the PAL speedup) but at least it will be finished somewhere.

I'm not happy that for the second time, Shout! hasn't been truthful regarding the future of this series. If it's going to be stalled out, fine, but don't have your representatives sending messages out to the contrary and falsely getting hopes up.

Actually, the last official news on it was in May, where it was only said "Later this year", not "June".

There's still plenty of later left in this year, and Select titles aren't officially announced until about a month before release. This could be coming out as early as September, but we won't probably know until after the release date for the next Select title passes.

Cliff McMillan said in another thread that they're done with the series for now. And that they are done with the series unless they pay more to acquire the later seasons and they are still analyzing the series to see if they can make the numbers work. THAT'S the holdup.

So I guess it's back to square one.

Huh????? Shout said they had rights to the *entire* run in the past.

No, we don't. Someone thought we did, but they were incorrect.

Jack, I do recall a Shout! spokesman stating that Shout! owned the rights to all seasons of Ironside. While it's a shame that the domestic releases have dried up, there are still the Madman releases, if you want to venture beyond the Barbara Anderson years.smiley_wink.gif

(1) I am not going to plunk down money on a set I can only play on one machine in my house when I already have boots that are from uncut airings in Canada and (2) I am frankly very disgusted to find that for the second time, this company has not been capable of giving accurate information on this title. I understand how it works when a title gets stalled but when hopes get raised *repeatedly* that there is going to be more and then the rug gets pulled out from under that is when the company doesn't get a free pass from me as far as how I feel about their conduct. And whatever goodwill this company was raising in other quarters just went down the toilet for me again.

Yes Im upset with Shout! too. Besides the unprofessional never ending story Ironside season set releases shenanigans it looks like Shouts! abandon Adam 12 with season 5.frown.gif You've got B Ward on Shouts fan forums (supposedly a Shout! employee and Forum spokesman?) doing the same set release dog and pony show shout! did around 1st failed release of season 3 of Ironside now its s6 of adam 12 furious.gif. Yep Adam 12 looks like another Shout! abandon series. Cliff Mac I'm sorry your company is quickly sliding back to the company disingenuous b*stards that strings fans along with false hope so fans wont boycott Shout!'s other sets or have completion worries on new sets that the company releasing. Worse most of the time I think Shout! knows way in advance that they have no plans to release the full series due economics (to expensive to secure full series rights, copyright issues, music score issues etc....) or have the guts or ethics to admitt that series sets were canceled due to poor sales . And I still dont understand the collusion you guys have with the Mad Man R4 Ironside releases ? Why does all your box work, dvd case artwork and even dvd menu images look identical on the Mad Man r4 season sets to the Shout! R1 releases? WTF??????? Im sorry but Shout sliding back untrustworthy dirt bag company who word is abusultely worthless and why should I buy any dvd set runs the risk of not being completd?.thumbsdown.giffurious.gif

P.S. Which has me all the more worried about a release of Kojak s2 frown.gif (one my all time favority cop shows) by Shout! is the quality going to be decent (ie Adam 12) and due to the joke of advertising budget Shout! has, no one will know its out and S3 will be canceled poor sales? This is a big one for me Shout! this is one of top 10 all time favorite tv shows period! Botch this you will never here the end of my bad mouthing here, amazon reviews , etc..... . frown.gif

You should pay closer attention, especially before being so critical.

Season 6 of Adam-12 was confirmed last month. And Shout employees made several public statements over the past year that the series wasn't abandoned, season 6 was indeed planned, and that they just had a full slate of releases keeping them busy to explain the delay since season 5.

I feel safe in saying that Adam-12 will be finished. Even if season 6 does poorly at retail, I have to think the worst case is season 7 just becomes a Shout Select title.

Which is fine and good but still leaves us with an "Ironside" problem. At bare minimum this company was dropping more than subtle hints that not one but *two* more seasons of this show could be expected and to suddenly get an announcement that "Oh, we've never had the rights to all the seasons" which flies in the face of EVERYTHING that his come out from this company going back to the pre-select days when we were seeing the same stunt go on regarding a S3 release doesn't sit well with me at all. I'm grateful that the show was finally resumed in the Select category but if the show is going to get stalled out then I don't think it's too much to have asked for candor *from the start* which was what didn't happen the last time as well.

Hmmm sorry the Adam 12 s6 release date had been moved around at least three times and de listed from amazon at least twice and now all that amazon now has for season 6 is to notify amazon prime members (which I'm one) by email when a FIRM RELEASE DATE becomes available, based on Shouts! track record I will believe Adam 12 season 6 is coming when I get the Amazon pre release order email and I get my s6 set delivered to my door step . I totally agree with Jack P a load CANDOR would go a long long way with Shout!. Look if its economics (i.e. low sales or difficulties with secure the copyrights making too expensive to continue the releases ) SAY SO UP FRONT be adults for a change . Its a massive bummer that your fellow fans (of what ever series) didn't support the show with enough sales to continue releases but most adults live in the real world and know dollars and cents matter and will get over a series set being canceled due to low sales. And if its copyrights issues sometimes fan interest can be expressed to studios/producers/music score writers, etc.... though fan email and letter campaigns to get things moving . But these points go back to the candor issue with is in short supply at Shout!frown.gif

I don't really know what you're talking about, but it sounds like your problem is you don't bother to look up information on the status of a specific title beyond Amazon. You need to look up information from sites other than Amazon. They routinely make guesses, estimations, and so on for everything from a release to the MSRP and release date itself. That's why, for instance, that sites like TV Shows on DVD and fans at this forum are being cautiously optimistic about The Bob Newhart Show being restarted since all we have to go off right now are Amazon product pages. And everyone knows that isn't any real confirmation, just a hopefully good sign.

I follow news on Adam-12 at this forum, Shout Factory, a popular mailing list, and elsewhere. And I'm a regular reader of TV Shows on DVD. I told you exactly what Shout Factory employees said several times at their official forum when people inquired about the status of this title. The first hint that it's release was scheduled was in early July with the first link I'm posting below. It became "unofficially" official in late July.

Didn't you wonder why all these supposed release dates, delays, and such were never discussed here when past Adam-12 releases were routinely discussed? It's because there wasn't any information to discuss at the time until now. There's plenty of room to criticize Shout for things like cut episodes in several season 1 releases, but this isn't one of them, in my opinion.

Let's not lose sight of what the matter of this thread is supposed to be about please. Injecting Adam-12 into this one was wrong because the info has indicated otherwise that that title was in no danger and the only qualm I have with Shout! over that title is the long delay between releases (and if there's no bonus content of note in S6 I'll be even more perplexed by the delay but I'll just take having it). So let's stick to the matter of Shout's conduct regarding "Ironside".

Found a store in Australia with some great sale prices on DVDs. Its called JB HiFi. Unfortunately, I don't think the sales carry over to online purchases. But in the store itself, I was able to pick up seasons 5 & 6 of Ironside for $20 each, seasons 5 & 6 of Rawhide (complete, not split) for $25 each and the first season with the real 60 minute episodes of McCloud for $20. The later seasons of these shows are still at full retail as they have not been out that long yet but I would imagine they would drop in price after a while as well.
