Ok all you multi region DVD player equipped Ironside fans Ive confirmed there pre order status from Madman au for season 5 of Ironside  www.madman.com.au/actions/series.do . Yes I know alot of you folks don't like non region 1 DVDs or players but I'm impatient and honestly don't trust shout to revive a abandoned series any time soon, so next paycheck I'm putting in my pre release order. I just though  let other  fellow impatient Ironside fans know the good news!
I won't be going this route, because even if God forbid Shout! abandons this again, I have a sufficient uncut unmentionable set for my own R1 player.

Ironside Season 5

Well, "Ironside" is still selling well enough as a Shout Select title to keep continuing in that program!

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Ironside-Season-5/15003

This year is notable as the first for Elizabeth Baur, and also the only time Barbara Hale made a guest shot on her former co-star's new show.

Glad my resistance to R4 sets was vindicated for this title! :)

I never liked this show any more than Perry Mason, because Raymond Burr is just

so irritable!

But the one thing I always loved about Ironside from occasionally watching it in reruns years ago is the theme music. When the 5th Season began in 1971 the series' theme was re-orchestrated on a grand scale.  A small portion of that "hipper" theme was recycled by Quentin Tarentino in his first "Kill Bill" movie.

Of course, Jack's resistance to the R4 Ironside releases means that he'll wait much longer, and pay more for the pleasure, but at least he can feel vindicated.smiley_wink.gif  I wouldn't think that he'd even bother picking this one up, given how he feels about Elizabeth Baur replacing Barbara Anderson.

Actually, I don't dislike Baur, I just think she's not quite as good as Anderson was.    I only meant that if the show ended up abandoned then S4 would be something easier to live with as opposed to S2 or S3.    Now that it's proceeding bring them on, and I can toss another Canada boot set! :)

Elizabeth Baur never made that much of an impact as an actress.

She was certainly pretty as Barbara Anderson was but looks alone aren't enough.

Baur was a regular on the Andrew Duggan "Lancer" TV western series in the late 1960s.

She and Barbara did get to work together in the 1990s in the reunion movie "The Return of Ironside", which Raymond Burr did in between Perry Mason TV movie sequels.

Baur's father was a casting exec at Fox which was what helped her get her foot in the door in the business.    She had a minor part in one of the worst episodes of "Batman", the final season episode with Barbara Rush as the uber feminist villainess Nora Clavicle.

"Return Of Ironside" was one of Burr's last projects.    I think he made only one more Mason film before his death.     He was planning to make a series of more "Ironside" films had he not died.

I'm glad I waited as well.

Something for us to agree on! :)

Unfortunately I did get seasons 3 & 4 from Australia but at that point who knew if Shout was ever going to do any more sets.

Sometimes, patience is a good thing.

I learned this after the R1 Ally McBeal set was announced soon after I bought the R2 set.

Oh, and I'll be picking up S5 or Ironside.

You know, it's funny... Ironside will soon have as many seasons released as Perry Mason, and Ironside has had a few years without releases, and is now being sold exclusively through Shout's website.

I never opened my R2 Ally McBeal set but I remember seeing that they put one of the seasons, 4 maybe, into widescreen on the individual season releases over there. Do you know if its that way on the box set?

Well its nice to see shout FINALLY restart Ironside after a boat load of bs with there original on again off again s3 release and abandonment of Ironside for years left a bad taste , the only thing I've been buy from shout is the Adam 12 seasons. I've got a region free Philip's DVD player and have been very happy with the Madman region 4 releases I missed the season 6 release (which I get soon) and got season 7 as Happy B day to me gift and I'm two disks into the set and loving it . Very serviceable set it bring back flash backs of watch the re runs on old channel 9 here in San Gabriel Ca in 80's and 90's and later on 56 in the 2000's. Lots of fun.smile.gif

Ironside Seasons 5 and 6

I Emailed Shout Factory to find out the status of Ironside Season 5 (they had previously let me know that 5/17 was the expected street date). They wrote back that season 5 was not, in fact, coming out on 5/17. Good news though in that they stated that both Seasons 5 and 6 would be released this year, although no street date has been given. They instructed me to check back with them in June for more info. Just passing this along.

Thanks for this information, Frank!

Please pass along anything else you may learn!

That means that this year, there will be more seasons of "Ironside" available on DVD than "Perry Mason" which I never would have guessed just two years ago.

Well, if it isn't coming in May, I'd say August and December would be the most likely months for the two seasons. June and July are both already spoken for, with two Transformers box sets.

I emailed them too and was informed that there are "rights issues" they are trying to work out with Season 5. I was not given a date, but was told that they were working on it. Got the email earlier today.

Thanks for giving us the good news on Ironside.  I hope all 8 Seasons of Ironside get released.  Can you email Shout and ask them about Adam-12 Season 6 and Season 7?  Thanks!

God Bless!

Robert

Good News For Ironside Fans, Madman Are Releasing Season 8 The Last Season In October, I Liked The First 4 Seasons Best, Eve Whitfield Could Arrest Me Anytime.
Does it have all three unaired episodes as well?
Alas, it looks like we are back to stalled out and abandoned by Shout once again in this country. I will have to make due with the boots for the remaning seasons (which are uncut from Canadian airings, and I have no reason to get a R4 version of the same)

I have to confess that for the *Second* time, this would mean Shout was not candid regarding the future of this show since as this thread reveals one of their reps was promising a May release date for S5. I can handle a title being abandoned, but what I don't care for is the sense of having been misled. And this, sorry to say, is something Shout has been guilty of even amidst all the things they do that I don't hesitate to praise them for.

Not sure of the episode list, but according to the listing on the Madman site it does include "The Return of Ironside" movie.

***Correction*** - the Madman listing has 19 episodes in the set.

Excellent news - very glad I stuck with the Madman releases after original hiatus with the Shout releases. Happy to see the unaired episodes and 'Return of' tv movie included.
