Mike, what makes you think I was joking?

Gotcha.  So you said we'd be doing this by phone?!?  Just post your number in this thread and we'll see about taking care of ya, Gene...

Well Mike, you're safe for tomorrow at least. I made it through the first game. Only the Giant's can take what should have been a blow-out and turn it into "Torture". But there's still a long way to go.

Dang it.  I got up early for nothing.

That was quite the ninth inning last night.  Very fun!

THAT was awesome, Phillip!

BTW, for anyone who wants to throw some wood on the fire...I decided to fire up the stove.

While I am not playing really close attention to the World Series, I have seen plenty of compelling baseball in this series, so far, to be very entertained.

Every play is so much more important in a series like this!  It is just amazing to see an infielder muff a ground ball and then realize how much more crucial that base runner might be than in the long drawn-out season.  I love baseball!

Here's a nice AP story on the appearance at WS Game 4 of the two Presidents Bush.  MLB says its the first time two former presidents have ever attended a game together.

But here's my absolute favorite part of the story:

Quote:
Barbara Bush appeared to be keeping a scorecard of the game in the early innings.

That put a HUGE smile on my face!

She didn't have much to record on the Texas side.

Colby Lewis looks like Wil Ferrell

Props to the Giants. A pitching clinic this series.

Congrats to the Giants. It's probably going to feel like another earthquake in SF with all the partying that's going to be going on.

Funniest thing about the Bush father and son appearing was then they switched TV over to Barbara, she had a little digital camera, she was taking snapshots of the event on her own camera!  I LOLed.

Congrats to the Giants.  Way to represent REAL BASEBALL.

Good pitching usually beats good hitting, and it really showed here in this series. I remember hearing this talk about all the firepower that the Rangers had, and the only time they came alive was in Game 1, and they still lost that game.

Congrats to the San Francisco Giants!

holy crap, Jeter just won a gold glove.  even Yankee fans can't believe it.

Causing SI Writer Peter King to wag:  "does that now open the door for Wade Phillips to win Coach of the Year?"

Elvis Andrus must be thinking he's the Rodney Dangerfield of AL shortstops.  Jeter kicked his butt in the All Star balloting, too.  IIRC, it was 2:1.  But, Gold Glove voters should "know better."

He apparently wrote it on Twitter.  But the comment can be read in this Boston Globe story by Peter Abraham.
