I will definitely rent this and check it out. The Director's Cut at 119 min. would be about 17 min. longer than the theatrical version.

Rental for me as well, too many bad reviews to risk a blind buy.

I quite liked it; the acting was pretty solid, and I've always been a fan of Joe Johnston's work. Definitely picking up the Blu-Ray!

I'll have a review up later today.  Just watched it last night, now going through the supplements.

The movie is actually ok.  It's not nearly as bad as the rumors say.  It's a little slow, and I don't know that it makes a lot of sense, but there's a great feelling of atmosphere and period, and some pretty effective jolts throughout.   There are a lot of callbacks to the original film, and there's some great makeup gore from Rick Baker.  And there are several callbacks to American Werewolf in London for good measure.

The alternative endings, on the other hand, are simply ridiculous.   If they had actually ended the film with them, I would have exploded laughing.  Come to think of it, I did explode laughing while watching them.  The actual ending for the film is better, although I admit it isn't very strong.

The Blu has a really good picture and a REALLY good sound mix.  Lots of directionality, and a lot of variety.

Almost hard to believe they filmed the second alt ending, Looks like it was intentionally funny.

btw the streaming of the original wasn't bad.

I did see jaggies or some aliasing, still watchable.

Also, has anyone seen any of the extras on the disc yet? Like the Rick Baker cameo?

Looks pretty sweet.
